Surprisingly, it's my cup of tea?

In fact, I like it. Very much. I don't understand how people think it's average? This is as close as I'm ever going to get from a SHOUJO so similar to Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. Readers from the mentioned manga would understand because we THIRST for the two main protagonists to become canon. No matter the amount of fanfic flooding the Internet, couples/pairings in mangas of shounen genre don't usually get to become actually REAL. Take 'Yondemasu yo azazel-san' for an example, it's shounen yes. So naturally, the cool main guy gets paired up with a cute four-eyed but hey I don't think it's ever going to be canon. THIS manga, is a shoujo. So basically, it's a newfound treasure for me. Anyway, don't take my word for it.

This is the first work by this mangaka I've read. I must say this is the best "girl summons demon" manga I've ever read. Compared to stories like Akuma na Eros and Mitsuiro Devil it's much better. Akuma to Dolce might top it but was more boring in the long run. What I'm looking for is a different than usual presentation of characters and story pacing and this manga - while no masterpiece - got that.

The art is eyecandy too.

I absolutely love shoujo's that can really make me laugh, like the comedy tag is there for a reason! This manga is hysterical and crazy you still get your heartpouning scenes too. I really recommend this manga if our into funny shoujo manga. The relationship between Meiko and Lui is just awesome, the beach chapter (3) was so funny!

But be patient with the romance, its not quite there yet, but definitely stick with it!

I expected better from this author; I really liked some of her other works. But this one is just your typical shojo... The ending felt really rushed, and a lot of things got crammed in to it. This story starts off better then normal, but soon deteriorates...

Not expecting too much

Well, I don't think there will be anything above average shoujo's in here. Not that I expect any...

Two chapters in, it seems to be your run-of-the-mill shoujos, exactly like I expected when I started reading. Not unreadable, worth killing time, but there's nothing that goes above average either. You see these quite often, some girl summons or gets involved another way with a demon (king) and becomes his slave, after that she falls for the demon king and happily ever after. I dunno about the second half, but it does seem pretty accurate in this case.

The art... well, I'm probably a bit biased, but I don't think it's all that great either. But like I said, there's a high chance that there's certain amount of personal preference in there. Rui simply doesn't live up to my expectations of a demon king, much less Lucifer at that.

And of course... Meiko has your average looks, run-of-the-mill settings too. I mean that by, stupid but kind (pronounced ignorant) but annoys other girls (including me) by being together with their ideal men. Honestly... it's your typical heroine, if not boring and/or annoying.

With all that said, I'm not saying this is horrible either. It's just... average. The good thing is, it doesn't make you expect anything else other than what it can give. You won't find yourself disappointed and smashing your laptop, but neither will you find yourself crying or moved. The most this will be is funny.

Volume 1:
I wouldn't say it centres too much on romance in this story - especially based on volume 1 where most of the chapters are introductory and is not much in the "development stage" yet.

I loved the interaction between Meiko and Lucifer. Meiko isn't afraid of Lucifer even though she knows he's a big badass who could end her life any moment. In fact, this story avoids the cliche that makes the female lead fall for the male lead at first sight and becomes as realistic as it can be by taking it slow between the characters. In fact, I don't even know what Lucifer really wants with Meiko!

If you're tired of cliche romance shoujo manga and want something that has a bit of girl power in it, I would totally recommend this series once it's up for scanlation! smile
