Having only read the first two stories in this series of tragic human extinction, Saber Tiger is a novel by means for Hoshino to experiment with. Of course, he's had ample opportunities to do that in the past.
Great presentations from psychological warfare in the second story conclude a fantastic story, one that defines a few myths in the telling.
Hoshino is known for his works in science fiction, and he has a real knack for it. His art is exquisite and very realistic, although character design has maybe one or two flaws.
Granted, a series of stand-alone stories, Saber Tiger is a nice read, and I hope to read the rest of the novel someday.
