From Beautiful Soup:
"B Grade" is a manga that takes place a few years after the two lead males have graduated from high school. One of them came out in high school, and the other was a scary sempai who kind of took care of him. But now they meet at the same office, several years later, where the kouhai has yet to come out of the closet...

It's not only sweet, but real by nisamohi on December 11th, 2008, 1:00am

This series is definitely one of my favorites, for it is very real. There's so much romantic fluff and stereotypical uke/seme characters in the shounen-ai and yaoi genres, and over time I've lost the taste for it. This series does not fit into the classic BL love story formula, but instead features very real, normal characters, a truly plausible plot and realistic artwork. The artist neither idealizes the male body nor the gay characters with their drawing style, plot or dialogue.

Overall? Cute, quietly romantic and firmly fixed in reality.

And the artist can really draw kisses, and even from many different angles, well. That takes serious talent.

Gorgeous. by elisegrey on August 29th, 2008, 7:50pm

One of my first manga, and certainly one of the loveliest BL tales out there right now. It does suffer a bit from dodgy translation, so I can only imagine my confusion when I first read this - coming back to it a few years later, though, it really holds up as a solid series. Ima Ichiko's artwork has matured wonderfully, especially in the second volume onwards, and she has the ability to conjure up a convincing atmosphere of closeness between lovers, even as she employs fadeouts (grrrrrrrrrr) to subtly draw a veil over proceedings. Actually, that's my one gripe. Why? Still hot and still affecting, but dear lord, fade outs?

The later volumes are only available as raws at the moment, but if you liked the first one and want to know what happens next then they're definitely worth checking out. I can't read a single character of either Japanese or Chinese, but I'm glad I made the time to give the second and third ones a shot.

And seriously, Ima Ichiko draws kissing like a dream. She is like a smooch goddess.

Ahhh... such moving tales by Lord_Lucifiel on July 5th, 2007, 2:53pm

This is yet another of my favourite series. Somehow, it moves me and leaves a taste of bittersweet memories.

I hope someone can do volume 2. bigrazz
