Lame ending

I enjoyed it a lot because I love gore and play or die/survival game scenerios. The manga has a lot of flaws, the ending being the biggest one, but was still fun to me, just binge read all 5 volumes. I don't regret buying them.

It's also kind of funny how adults almost don't exist in this manga. The teens are out at night all the time but who cares. Parents? What parents? lol

Atrocious

I was interested in the manga at the beginning, but the final explanation for the game is so ludicrous - even if we accept that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
an email can hypnotize people and make them able to psychosomatically decapitate themselves or cause themselves to spontaneously combust

(which we really shouldn't), this fails to explain things like the origin of the confirmation emails.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
How did the virus magically know what they were doing? Why would the 'letters spelling out a secret message' ever be a thing? Why and how did the virus write a note about being in the classroom? Is the virus an artificial intelligence? Why did I not check the rating for this manga before reading it?

Besides the unbelievable plot, the characters are awful. Each one is portrayed as either a horrible person or a saint who's happy to sacrifice themselves for their friend(s), plus one sociopath who dies a horrible death with no apparent pain (but may be the least cringeworthy character nonetheless). There are also the adults, who rarely appear. The police have no interest in investigating the King's Game even though all the kids die in exactly the same way as the messages they receive, because that makes sense. The teacher is never in the classroom, and the kids have no concern about their parents or siblings at any stage, only the relationships they have with their classmates.

I disagree with the other reviewers who posted about the ending.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He definitely didn't defeat the King's Game, he won it by being the last person standing. Also the scene with his girlfriend is just a flashback IMO - it's meant to be ironic because the game asks him 'what do you want', and the only thing he wants is his girlfriend who just died because of the game. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this manga did throw in some random time travel just for the unbelievable hell of it, so I could be wrong.

Don't waste your time on this one.

Disappointing ending

The start of the manga was great. The random killings, how people had to follow different rules to survive...then it got weird, starting from the starting of the sex commands. Those commands were almost fan-service like. It then went even further down, with the various commands and 'impossible' commands to fufill.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Honestly I wished pretty early on Chieme was the killer. Don't know why, lol. During the manga, though, there was this HUGE slasher filler. From 20+ people to 13 people. It dropped pretty quickly within what, 5 chapters? Very filler like, if you ask me. The 'unnecessary action' was to cry. Which pretty much...everyone did. But the messages, they seemed to be mocking/having fun.

The ending was very unfufilling for two reasons: the entireee story was summed up with 'the killer is everyone, but no one. It was a hypnotic virus.' and what the main did in the end was go back into the past/ revive his girlfriend. The summing up of the virus, however, was what irked me the most. Throughout the entire manga, people's necks were twisted, limbs went akimbo before shooting off, killed their friends, and for some reason, spontaneous human combustion occurred (spontaneous human combustion has never actually been proven why it happens, from what I know). I doubt hypnotism can actually cause that. 'That' meaning necks turning 180 degrees and limbs shooting off. The messages too, hinted that it was a human behind all the killings. Why were some people spared? Why were others killed? The manga was not specific, and to me, didn't manage to cover many things in terms of explanation.

The plot was kinda okay at first, ignoring the plot holes and impossible circumstances
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Rei (was that her name?) being the infamous hacker despite being only 16-18+
it was okay. But towards the end it kinda got suckish, then...nope. Not really recommended. Unless you wanna see friends betraying each other (and to a certain extent, how 'shallow' humans can be when protecting themselves) then yes, this is the manga for you.

The Game is apparently an hypnotizing virus (used to create world peace) by Chemi's mother who is a scientist. The game was defeated by the main character Nobuaki by playing a video game on Rei's laptop (she died playing the video game).

Once, Nobuaki finished the game Chiemi died but was revived by Nobuaki and the two live happily ever after The End.

The only reason I haven't dropped this is because I want to know who the King is. This manga starts as promising but end up annoying in so many ways and I won't ever recommend it to anyone. It has so many flaws and one thing irked me the most is the mangaka took the death issue too light.

I love this series so much, yeah first of all I'm also a sucker for survival game like this, secondly the beautiful art hooks me in.
The story is progressing, more and more depressing, you can see that the main boy though still survives , he practically lost of lot of his important friends. Every time he tries so hard and desperate yet he's still at loss, what a huge tragedy.
And of course, as everyone else, I'm curious for whom is Ou-sama

extremely disappointing ending

I'm a sucker for stuff that explores human behavior in extreme circumstances. In that regard, Ousama Game looked promising at first... then somewhere along the lines players just started dropping all over the place, and that whole psychological aspect breaks apart. So a warning to those looking for the same thing I was - this manga does not have it.

I personally kept on reading despite the incredibly irritating main character because I wanted to find out how the game worked and how exactly people were being killed. Given the events and hints dropped throughout early manga, I expected a suspenseful story leading towards the King's final reveal. The suspense was mostly there, but the end result and final reveal here was incredibly anticlimatic and unsatisfying.

what a rotten potato

Basically I felt the same as the guy below me
What's wrong with this dude, I don't know anymore, it almost feels like he gets aroused when his bestfriend f*cks his girlfriend.
The fact that the main character has the same name as the author doesn't help either, feels like he's just the kind of guy the author is.
Ah well I figure the mystery is just some kind of hypnotism, shallow mindbleaching and all that.
This whole sex thing drove me out of interest, so, this is a rotten potato for me.

it starts very promising, but further all action revolves around "have sex with you partner's friend". well the first time it was interesting but the second time made me lose interest in this manga
