Volume 3... <3

It really took me three volumes to fall in love with this story. If Tamago no Hi had been written by anyone other than Naono Bohra, I would have given up back in chapter 2. But I stuck with it because I love Naono's style (it's rare that yaoi artists can handle females well, and she takes the prize), and boy did it pay off.

It's primarily a nakama type sci-fi story, so you get the standard "group traveling to fight demons" plot line, which is why I had trouble keeping interested. But the ending of volume 2 (not translated, so you'll have to read it in Japanese) hooked me in and I bought the third volume right away.

Tamago is not yaoi, but you can't expect someone who's been drawing male pairs for nearly 20 years not to slip one in...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I don't want to spoil too much, but AHH, SO CUTE, THE SCENE WITH WIESE AND PLATIN IN THE ONSEN!!! <3 <3 Think Fushigi Yugi but with a reversed revelation.

There is a subtle shift in art style between volumes 2 and 3, given that Tamago is one of Naono's earliest titles (and no one draws the same way forever). But I was so busy admiring the men (and envying Wiese) to be distracted. Platin even looks like he could be Rakamu's brother (from Dokunoaji).
