Description
From Manga-Sketchbook: After a major natural disaster, earth is slowly transforming into a desert in which mankind tries to survive. Water becomes a precious resource and the center of political intrigues. In the middle of this, a young boy, member of a gang, encounters a beautiful girl who's a merciless warrior and holder of the key to the salvage of humanity.
The story could have been much better, maybe is just me , but I can't seem to follow the story , it jumps so much from memories to action to other places that there are so many gaps that one just gets bored or just can't seem to understand what is going on.
Used to be 10/10 but last couple of chapters have been really bad its even like a different manga altogether. so now 6/10 because not very good at all.
The first few volumes are really good but with the recent chapters it starts to lose track of the main story and becomes quite boring and confusing. The art, while being quite good, gets hard to follow at times and can leave you wandering what just happened.
When i first started reading it I got so obsessed. It really is good because it's got a lot of action and sci-fi, and a tinge of romance (I really like Rael and Juju together). But then it got so freaking confusing and slow and long I had to give up on it. Ah well, lots of mangas get like this so it's not just Agharta...
Looks like this could make one of those Cyber-punk classics but the storyline, if I dare say, is messed up more than intended to. Having a plot rich like curry is kind of a must for this type but when you don't know which is the base and which is the hidden taste, that's not good. I've read Akira, Appleseed, Eden etc and I was able to comprehend the stories after the 3nd read at most. Maybe this one needs a 4th or 5th, meaning good re-read value provided it interests you that much.
The drawings and action sequences are well planned out and are drawn well, but the story itself flows poorly. Poor characterization makes it hard to care about any of the protagonists. I gave up on it after 3 volumes.
As said in the description: Beautiful heroine->check. Possible romance development between hero and heroine->check. Good art->check. Action->check. Interesting storyline->check. What else could one ask?
I like the art alot, and the story...yes it can be considered unique, kind of. You know...depleted resources...and then a girl who makes water or something like that? The story is a tad confusing, left me scratching my head, hopefully they'll clearly explain everything later on but for now it's something I'm keeping my eyes on.
