The first story was beautiful but I had a hard time concentrating on the rest, to be honest. So, about the 1st chapter: the art is nice but not by Bannin standards, which is unfortunate, but the characters are soulful and passionate. The inconclusive ending is nonetheless melancholy, although personally I'd like to think they made it through the rain after all. It was very beautiful indeed.

Rating for the 1st chapter: 8/10

I thought the fifth story was the best

Wah I'm kind of surprised reading people's comments, didn't anyone think it was clever how Kunieda
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
made you absolutely unaware of what Yuusuke's true guilt was until the final pages?
After reading it I just sat back and had to process it all. That's what I love about Kunieda--you THINK you know what's going on or what's being hinted and then you're always slightly (but oh so critically) wrong. You can see this in the first story as well. Honestly, you have to go back and re-read them to appreciate how deftly she leads the reader around and how the characters' "throwaway comments" are invested with so much more (usually horrifying) meaning. Gaaaah I LOVE her work!

One story - must read, one story - you can just leave it

You can read all of the stories, but I would like to just express my humble opinion on two stories.

1st story - I was simply amused by this story and I totaly agree with below comment of MightyMaeve. What's a twist, what's a turn, what's a drama.. The end was amazing.. And unexpectedly (or maybe not), I felt that I like Ryouichi as well as the boy.. That's why I think Kunieda-sensei is just brilliant.

5th story - I don't want to be rude but - what was it...??

For the 5th story only 9/10, but looking at entire work - nice one..

The fourth story happened to be my favorite out of this series. Imagine my shock when I discovered it had been adapted into a film. Sadly, though, its not available in my region on DVD. However, if you are interested, *cough cough*

Though much of the BL is toned down, its a really good film.

The fifth story ruined everything

This is exactly what I hate about reading a one-shot collection. All the stories are good except for the fifth story, which is unbelievable and doesn't make sense. sad
Spoiler (highlight to view)
He raped his sister because she wanted to run away with some man.
What's the point of that? I don't get it.

That's all I've to say. Read it. It gave me something more than entertainment, though of course I enjoyed reading it immensely. It's bitter-sweet and splendid. Thank you PresenceDear for scanlating this wonderful manga! Hopefully a good English publisher will release this title soon.

A collections of comedy, drama, and tragedy.

I'd read this quite some time back; I've always love unieda-sensei's works, especially this, Natsu Jikan, Mirai no Kioku, and its sequel, Kaze no Yukue. The first story look really simple from the start but ended up with such a turn of event at the end. I highly enjoyed the comedic chapters (story 2-3 & 6), while once again Kunieda-sensei throws in another story which is bittersweet (story 4) and also highly unexpected (story 5).

It's great to see the variety of her works, from comedy to drama and tragedy, with a way of inserting the least expected plot into it. Finally it was nice to see story 7 as a continuation from the first story of Natsu Jikan. I wished some of these one-shots were longer, but the impact of the stories are much more apparent as just one chapter (or two 8D).

Title Story INCREDIBLE!

Oh man. *DIES of sheer emotional overload and loves every second of it*

This is the story that made me fall in love with Kunieda-Sensei! It is amazing the way the story is introduced and then the very ending - DRAMA, twists and turns and HOW!

I like how Ryouichi is a well developed character that is neither good in his saving of the young one and enjoying his life (finally happy!), or evil in his choice of profession and violence tendencies: He just is. And Saika Kunieda makes me love him and feel for him.

I'm eagerly awaiting the final story and will review the whole volume at that time.

Quite intriguing collection of short stories: some cute, some sad, some cruel. I like how relationships end up not being a simple matter of two people loving each other and that when you think things can't get more twisted, they do. The fifth story is my favourite so far.

Yupp, it´s how I will describe this oneshots collection. Heartwrenching stories with a unknown future to each and every main character. A typical creation by my favourite KUNIEDA-sensei. The artwork are quite impressive and you really can feel the mood in those short but memorable stories *(^_^)**
