Usagi is the granddaughter of the leader of a prestigious ninja village, but she's such a klutz that she's never made it out of the lower class. Frustrated with Usagi's lack of progress, her grandfather sends her to marry Lord Hanzo with an order to breed many ninja children. But the lord has no interest in her or her childbearing potential!

If you want to read something funny..
I recommend this 100%. Each individual character has their own unique personality they were all well written. It was a cute manga so if you want something more on the serious side I wouldn't really recommend this. Personally for the laughs alone this has become a favorite. There are some more serious notes that come about and they don't just brush over them with the comedy it was really well balanced IMO. The main character is a bit slow and a cry baby but it made sense with the story line. She was just a really clumsy lazy girl trying to become a ninja.
Kind of a joke
I somehow read 35+ chapters but I can't fathom reading 60 more. Way too long and drawn out for a comedy shoujo. While it is entertaining at times, it's lacking a serious main character and plot line. Definitely not a read that will make you think, nor does it feel well crafted and thought out. The female lead is only "hard working" to combat her perpetual laziness and the mild character progression is in no way profound or applicable to real life. She's dopey and child-like through and through. Additionally, many of the story's characters are flat and just shift around to however the plot was written but dont act as believable individuals.
The plot does no one justice. It's just a bunch of arcs one after another of her meeting a new person, usually a hot guy, only to prance around trying to become wifey material with them. Many adventure manga have similar arcs but in the least still have something deeper tying things together. Usagi's betrothal is the only thing standing.
Regardless, it's a matter of preference of what you want to read, so if you're looking for something fun it might be for you.

Development. Takes time to reach the good parts.
Finished the whole manga in 2 nights. I like the development and character growth but some parts can be pretty predictable. And.. Ranmaru! He's so multi-dimensional! I also like how the author wrapped it up.
Not worth a second read
There were some good points and some bad points. I loved how hilariously it started though Usagi was your typically clumsy, no-good, crybaby heroine she was filled with some misplaced inspiration and determination. This was pretty good because she was such a comic relieft. As the story progressed, there were some unexpected twists and turns that made the plot good, but some parts were just bad and too typical of shoujo. Towards the end though, I felt that it was a bit rushed and forced.
And I really hate this part:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The manga depicted Usagi to be a stronger and tougher ninja after the destruction of Iga, but when she meets with her family the supposedly new Usagi became the old Usagi, a crybaby and always seemed so helpless, which is really weird because I thought she was an elite shinobi. I was finally excited to see a new and improved Usagi but they just had to spoil it by making her dependable on the same people that helped her before.

Jesus freaking Christ
One thing I can't stand about this manga is how love-crazed everyone seemed to be, especially (and unsurprisingly) Usagi. Where the actual f**k are your priorities? Life-or-death situation, and she daydreams about Hanzo. Someone's in trouble, she daydreams about Hanzo.
Hanzo Hanzo Hanzoooooo. God! I can't stand it!
I understand that its only a shoujo romance, but at least try to fit the personalities and antics to the historical context. =_= It would've been a bit better if Usagi grows up a little over time, but sadly, she just doesn't. There were sudden personality changes, but the moment Hanzo comes in the picture, everything gets thrown out the window. Usagi was downright stupid, making things difficult for everyone around her.
(Still, I found the manga charming, for reasons I can't pinpoint)

I really love this manga. I can't even count how many times I have re-read it lol. I think what appeals the most to me is one, the great romance and two, the comedy. I just can't help myself from grinning like an idiot while I read. While I admit it isn't increadably realistic and totally inepth with every detail, I think all the important points were definitely covered. Also, I like the whole idea of a slightly unrealistic story, that is the whole reason I read, so I can escape reality for a bit. I find it relaxing. But that's just me.
All in all, I really want everyone to read this all the way through! Don't stop at the first few volumes, it gets SO much better later on! <3 ....this manga has an ending you will not regret reading 100 chapters for. Perfect ending!! ^_^ <3
An entertaining ninja story
First off, I have always really liked this mangaka's art style. I've re-read this series 3-4 times and I enjoy it each time.
I probably like it so much because I understand Usagi's inability to get the guy and be good at athletic stuff. She's really great at medicine but people only want her to be a ninja, which just isn't her thing - something I get. She is a little annoying sometimes, what with being pretty lazy and kind of a crybaby at times. I feel Usagi embodies the lazy crybaby in all of us. At the end of the day, she does what is necessary and takes care of those she cares about.
I also enjoyed the political intrigue and the glimpse into Japan's history. The series is pretty long so it can seem like it drags out to some people, but I thought it was pretty exciting and it always gets me hooked, every time I read it!

.....This left a bad taste in my mouth
Maybe I'm just becoming cynical after reading 100+ shoujo series.
Either way, this manga was nothing short of awful, and had little real substance to it. It was just like any other bad shoujo series...incapable girl falls in love with the unattainable hot guy, the hot guy doesn't care for her....then later, childhood friend shows up with romantic interest in the incapable girl, and hot guy becomes jealous and wants the incapable girl after realizing how loyal/cute/fun/etc she is. The cycle continues and ends with happily ever after for everybody.
I wouldn't have minded the generic plot above if the manga had delve deeper into the characters' inner struggles/feelings/actual romantic developments... but none was present. The main girl was cute enough and I loved how she was very good with making herbal medicines, but her development and the scenes were so hastily done that I had no chance of relating/bonding/getting attached to her at all.
I wouldn't have batted an eyelash had she been killed and then fed to the dogs. In fact, I would probably given this manga a higher rating if that had happened.
The art was good though, and the guy was hot--so it deserves credit in that respect. However, the plot and story falls behind by a stretch. Don't waste your time if you want to read something complex.

I got the first volume of this series as a Christmas present ( oh side note: dont give ppl books unless u know that they really wanted that book bc I got 6 different series n I hate all of them..), and as I mention ina really long side note, I hate it. The main character.... I CAN'T stand her.. she is so man crazy!!! I read the pre-quel in the magazine and I freaking love it (I read the prequel 3 times!) So I tried to reread this again.. this time I got up to 1.5 volume before I gave up.. so if u hate useless, man crazy girl, then dont read it. I like the rest of the characters though (esp. The main boy.. oh myyy xD)

One of my favorites.
The characters were likable. They were well-drawn and developed along the way. The art, though not great, is still fine, too. But what really hit it for me was the plot. It is amazing. There wasn't a point where I got bored. It's refreshing since it's not your ordinary type of shoujo. The ending's very well done too. There were no loose ends and it was satisfying.
I just finished reading this and it is absolutely fantastic. You wouldn't regret reading this.
