Untapped potential

This plot surely could have been spun into a suspenseful tearjerking melodrama that while not too new definitely will tug at many people's heart strings. Love triangles when done right can turn out to be very powerful and emotionally impactful. Unfortunately that's not quite the case here; the manga's tone feels too light and bright and execution too dreamy and uplifting, which does not fit well with the nature of the story. Even the author herself admitted she wasn't used to writing more serious stuff and this work came more as an exception in her repertoire, which definitely showed because her inexperience certainly revealed its weaknesses here. Coupled that with her chronic 'trademark' of creating very shallow and flat characters, and you can get an idea about what went down wrong this time.

Loved it!

This is a great manga, I don't really have any dislikes about it other than the usual "which it were longer than one volume".
It's a love triangle that is complicated and not easily predictable.
I liked all the characters and I just loved the tension between them all and especially the way it ended (except that I would have liked another smut scene).
To me, the characters were realistic, easily afraid of being hurt or showing their true feelings and misunderstandings happen too.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The uke sleeps with the guy who's in love with him at one point, while liking someone else. So what, it happens and I think that part was realistic too. It might not be the rose-colored, beautiful manga way but it's just sex, they don't need big feelings for it every time. At that moment, the uke was still unsure of who to be with and about what would happen.
I liked that this event made it even less predictable.

Of course the whole "guys secretly in love with each other over years" could be too boring for you, but if you enjoy good love triangles and oh so good looking guys then give it a shot!

horrible uke!

the uke was disgusting and had no backbone to speak of, he is in love with a guy that loves him back. but neither knows that, so the man he loves (Souji ) sleeps around with women and gets married rather than lose Yuusuke because of his feelings. then there is Masahito that loves yuusuke also, and yuusuku feels indebted to him for he has been a good friend. the story so far sounds good, but yuusuke keeps dragging both guys around even after he finds out they both love him. instead of being honest with both guys what does he do? sleeps with them both! i know he feels indebted to masahito but who sleeps with someone out of pity. and i dont buy that it was rape, because yuusuku said it himself, that he never even fought him off, he just allowed it to happen. at the end all 3 guys stay as friends, which is weird that yuusuke would be friends with someone that he knows loves him, and that soiji would want him around someone he slept with so easily..... not a good story over all

Complex Feelings Towards Two Friends; Too Rushed
by MightyMaeve

Another unusual one for Yamato-sensei. She steps away from extreme-babyish uke combined with the beautiful, dark seme to not only give us a slightly more 'adult' looking (he's still very youthful looking) uke, but also a clear, explicit, and believable relationship with more than one man.

The art was a little more crowded in this piece, but still very beautiful and flowing.

I found the emotions of the uke to be compelling--it was refreshing to see a character that had complex feelings that were very real toward two friends. That said, the feelings of all three men were much too briefly explored...For example, I could have had my heart fall out for the friend that was outside the dynamics of the main two; instead, I felt just a twinge of a heart beat happening for him...then...the downside to the tankobon...

The downside to this tankobon was it's length--it felt 'short,' like it could have easily been two volumes. The ending and several scenes felt like I was being pulled and pushed along when I really wanted to take my time and explore with the characters in a more in-depth way. It was still comprehensible, but it seemed like the flashbacks and the present day scenes were all just the bare minimum.

Turns are a bit too sudden

I'm kind of glad that I didn't end up buying this manga, because this is one of those mangas that are okay, but not quite great enough to purchase and keep on your bookshelf. The art was lovely as usual and the characters were somewhat believable; but the twists in the story were kind of sudden, and seemed to happen too many times. There were too many lies from one of the main characters, and the one that gets rejected from the triangle even feels a sort of vicarious pleasure from seeing the other two characters together?! By the end of the story, I just wished that all three of them would get together and sure enough- there was a joke about a possible threesome at the end of the story! I've never read anything terrible from Yamato Nase, and this certainly isn't bad either, but just not good enough for me to rave about!

Usually I dislike plots based on misunderstandings but I enjoyed this manga, maybe because it doesn't stretch out for too long (after all is just one vol.).

Seeing
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Souji running away was a little frustrating but he had his good reasons

The only thing I honestly hated was the first sex scene that pretty much can be considered a rape scene.

It was unnecessary
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Yuusuke could have decided to sleep once with Masahito for some wrong reasons instead of being forced like that at the beginning!
and it even made me dislike Masahito a little, even though I do like him and his determination to just see his loved one happy.

i looked through the raws of this manga, and i have to say that i am disappointed. this author usually doesnt write about characters that are so indesive, weak, and pathetic. i mean from what i saw, the uke, Yuusuke? is really annoying, one page he is kissing one guy, and then the next another guy. one page he is having sex and crying with one guy, and then he is throwing himself at the other guy, and having sex with him too. its like make up your mind already!!! At the last page all three guys are calmly sitting on a table joking around, the uke obviously having made his choice after sleeping with both guys. what a weak annoying character. this author usually writes main characters that know what they want and dont jump around to different guys.
