Description
Yasuie runs the Kiryuuin Detective Agency in Tokyo's Shinjuku Nichome neighborhood. With no clients and no money, it's a constant struggle just to live and pay the rent. For the past seven years, Yasuie's assistant and partner Yoshiyuki has been willing to suffer throught all the good and bad times with him--even considering Yasuie's playful advances, which approach sexual harassment--but life has a way of changing things. Faced with his family's ultimatum, Yoshiyuki must choose between a penniless future with Yasuie and a more traditional lifestyle. Can Yasuie convince Yoshiyuki to stay with him? Even if Yasuie does confess the true reason he brought Yoshiyuki into the detective business, will it be enough to change his partner's mind?

This one was pretty weak. The plot was super shallow and the characterization was flimsy as well. I can get past those things if a work has amazing art. Unfortunately in this case, the art was very rough. Proportions were way offf and it was so awkward looking at times that I couldn't decipher what was going on from panel to panel. In short, this just wasn't good. There's much better BL out there. I suggest leaving this one on the shelf and seeking out something else.

There was something very dissatisfying about this manga. There's nothing really admirable about the seme - he's just a deadbeat loser who doesn't seem to have any drive at all. The uke's attraction to him is explained away with some BS excuse about how he finally had a place he could call home. Their whole relationships and every interaction is so forced that it's kind of like watching two very crappy actors trying to do a romantic scene together.
And then there was the rape scene. It was just so freaking typical. Uke does something to upset the seme, seme rapes him. Only this time the seme doesn't seem to be really contrite about his actions. It was as if it didn't even occur to him just how serious his actions were. The mangaka unapologetically turns her laidback, cheerful, deadbeat seme into a rapist and there's absolutely no retribution. We weren't even allowed to feel sympathy for the uke, because what should have been a traumatic situation was just waved away.
I could go on and on about how much this manga bothered me. The plot had no real conflict, the characters were uninteresting and typical, the art was mediocre. My final words: This was BORING, and a waste of my time. At the same time, I'm always a huge proponent of forming your own opinions. However, I wouldn't recommend this if you can't stand ridiculously insipid characters, a weak plot, and utter dismissal of rape.
