The very essence of mediocre, but...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main story is same old from the same old - cute and infantile uke meets mysterious and cool seme and after few minor misunderstanding the two falls deeply in love. And of course, they all lives in an all gay world where women are scarce like dodo birds.
There are some squeaks in this story, the main factor that bind this two together to begins with - the chair, seems to me a bit silly and far-fetched. Why does a normal student be so obsessed over a chair? Even if he was an industrial design student it would have been weird for me that he went to a bar and drown his sorrow for the loss of chair! Even more silly was Jin's Story about the reason that he became a chairs designer: His brother had some disability, he needed a chair and they haven't got one at home since they had a traditional Japanese house so he built him a chair but it was crooked so it damaged the brother even more... this really crack me up. It's such a blessing that there was no Ikea branch near by, otherwise the world would have miss such a talented designer!

Anyway, I was going to pass on the spin-off but I changed my mind after reading the oneshot (chapter 4). The oneshot is really lovely and interesting, built very well and in a realistic manner. After the cliche main story it was a really refreshing surprise. Definitely worth reading.

The art is just like the main story - predictable and mediocre.

it won't stay with me for long (ha; in fact i already read it once before and forgot), but it's pleasant enough, and the setting is at least original. also, azumi and jin saw things in each other that make sense to me, while in a lot of BL people fall in love with others and i can only scratch my head and wonder what the heck they see in each other. furthermore everything is consensual, and the uke doesn't protest the entire time; so yeah, a step up from average.

and by this time hasugawa's boys are nice eyecandy. well, the seme are; azumi and madoka are a bit too uke-ish for me.

I found Azumi's character and their relationship a little too unrealistic. However the oneshot in chapter 4 is sweet and cute, where Sakaguchi starts to tease Hayasaka when he realizes Hayasaka likes him, only to realize he likes Hayasaka himself. xD

I don't think this manga is trying to be anything more than "stock yaoi" and it does the job right. I hope someone will license/scanlate the spinoff because it sounds interesting.
