The manga tends to emphasize cliche shounen elements way too much.
Basaras battles soon fall into the typical receive huge amounts of damage and win with the power of guts scenarios. Even though Basara is supposed to be a sword fighting prodigy, carries a holy weapon and has a special power, he is outclassed by most of the people he fights.
The fights in the anime are much better. Fights are shorter, Basara is portrayed as more skilled and doesn't get hit any where as much as in the manga.

The plot is interesting and the art is awesome, but so far, the series suffers from
(1) Fairly generic characters
(2) An overabundance of silly ecchi stuff
(3) Way too many shounen terms, like random battle techniques, jargon, and a veritable crap-ton of attack names.
It's not a bad read, but if you can't take too much shounen in your manga, you'd wanna skip this.

I agree perrinaz, it somewhat resembles the lead characters in High School DxD(body structures and characteristics) and gives me some of the parts in the anime where female lead lives with the male lead.
The story is like Hagure Yuusha no Kichiku Bigaku,which were made by the same author, where the hero protects the demon lord.

Does this not remind anyone of Highschool DxD? We have a forearm that becomes armor. A red-headed Demon/Devil boss.

The art work of this series is good, story concept is interesting enough. However the extremely slow pace makes this series forgettable, and the cliffhangers are just frustrating as usual.
Actually pretty entertaining first 3 chapters honestly. I went in with extremely low expectations though. We've all read the X-millionth LN -> Manga adaptations and know how shitty they can be, but so far this seems to be doing alright and the art is really nice.
My suggestion: take your penis out and turn off your brain and you'll like it.

i didnt really know what to make out of the first chapter so i waited for the second one to write this and so far this looks pretty good. Its basically a fantasy manga in the modern world with demons other other beings. i like the plot so far,the art is great and i didnt know if the main character would be the classic random guy getting launch into a new setting but after chapter 2 the main character has my approval. anyway i hope this keeps going good
