It was definitely different from what I usually read, but I liked it nonetheless. I do not think I will read it again, but that doesn't mean it wasn't memorable. I found it cute, touching, romantic, but not as satisfying as it could have been. A good first read with a brilliant plot and likable characters.
Awww..... This is really cute. And addicting. Wish it was longer .It was a bit rushed though. If you read this, it was worth taking up your time .But I wanted to see Kippie's and Kokoro's children and Yuzuyu meeting Kippie again. I felt something was missing. I loved it when Miki went to his school and saw Kippei and Kokoro kissing. Back off, Kippei is Kokoro's ! They're perfect for each other! Anyways, it was super sweet and had a good romance even though it was a subplot. *****Opinions***** Art:***** cute Characters:*** Yuzu was like an angel. Not reality. Plot: ***** Full stars for BOTH!!! Romance: ***** so sweet
That is all that I can say. It was really cute, ha-ha. I especially love the relationship between Kippei Katakura and his 5-year-old cousin. It is so adorable. If you like cutesy manga, this is for you =D
This is a fun and light-hearted manga, but has subject matters that really should not be dealt with so lightly. A 17-year-old boy suddenly takes care of a five-year-old, but he does it with amazing success. The little girl always acts like a perfect angel - no temper tantrums, no whining, no problems, really. She is happy with a rice ball for lunch. The manga also glosses over topics like child abuse, sexual violence, and abandonment.
Aside from the failure to adequately address these issues, however, the manga is a fun read. The little girl is cute, and the art is of decent quality.
I'ma little sick right now so i'll fix up this comment later. in short: romance -> great. I liked that the romance got resolved pretty fast and the couple fit each other perfectly without really being the stock 'perfect couple' (apart from the whole rich/straight-a part >.> though she had emotional flaws which made up for this). I also liked that what seemed like a contending love-interest was not shown or dealt with as such. child-rearing -> the story seems to stray from this with a couple of short arcs but mostly well dealt with. That one complication with Yuzuyu near the end just reminded me of the similar part which I hated in Kodomo no Omocha, though.
if there was no standing out romance line between Kippei and that proud idealized beauty (Kippei's classmate). With an ugly scary stalker-girl, it all looks like a kitsch and soup opera. I just can't bear it.
Also, I have two little nieces (near Yuzuyu's age), and they don't say so profound things like Yuzuyu sometimes says. I remember myself in that age - I was too shy to say smth like that, and I simply couldn't find words. So her speech looks rather unbelievable to me.
First: The art is mediocre at best. The mangaka use large eyes to make children and bigger girls cute, some of them so big that they look somewhat like an alien.
Story: The mangaka doesn't know how children talk, think or what is right to do whit them and what is not. So in the end she let them talk and behave like short grownups and not like 5 years old children. Yes, Yuzuyu is cute. But not a 5 years old child which has lose her mother AND father (the mangaka seems to has forgotten about this and so Yuzuyu has forgotten about her father completely too). In the end this manga is only a romance and about difficulties for the main male protagonist to get himself a real girlfriend while taking care of his cute 5-years-old cousin. IMHO the best character in this manga is the older sister of Kippei. Which is very strong, to the point of being over dominant, but who have her heart in the right place. I really do enjoy this character.
If you like to read something heartwarming and moving about children and grownups interaction read "Usagi Drop" (very good) or "My Girl" from SAHARA Mizu. Or if you like a cute and humoristic story than try "Yotsubato!" (beautiful). This Manga is definitely not on the same level like the three mangas which I suggested. You can read this manga but you would ask yourself many times why was the mangaka thinking children would say this or that. Or why it's normal for the ppl in this manga that 5-year-olds can walk alone trough the city to visit somebody. Or many more things like that. The romance part is OK I guess but nothing extraordinary.
The ending is quite sweet, but if the author added a few pages (about what's going on for each character or add flashbacks of current situation before the final scene), it would have been more complete.

For Aishiteruze Baby, I would prefer that it ends the same way as Usagi Drop". But of course, the main male character already has a girlfriend, if he would end up with the girl he raised, I would feel sorry for his high-school girlfriend. So I think it has a sweet ending, just a little incomplete (at least tell us what's going on with Yuzuyu and her current life, and what's going on with Kippei and his girlfriend. It left me hanging in an emotional state that Kippei and Yuzuyu never got to meet each other after the depart. lol
but this was quite addictive. Hard for me to stop halfway. I don't know why but the ending...It feels like there's something missing. There's no extra chapters about how Yuzu is doing when she's with her mom. Not so recommended.
the only complaint i have is that i felt it needed another chapter, the ending was too abrupt and it doesn't show enough about the solution to the many important relationships at the end
