Haru visits Canada to spend the summer holidays in the woodland house of his strict, strong-willed mother, Haruko. There, she burdens him with the responsibility of caring for his younger adoptive brother - a wild and unruly little boy named Ren who trusts no-one and prefers to wander in the woods with Haruko's dogs rather than associate other people. Haruko orders Haru to 'civilize' Ren. As the young man strives to teach Ren how to live in human society, their relationship gradually improves - so much so that Haru plans on taking his 'little brother' to Japan with him once he finds a job.
Unfortunately, fate has a cruel habit of interfering with one's plans.

ren falling for haru isn't as far fetched as some seem to think.
ren was severely abused and treated like an animal before he came to live with haru's mom. haru brought him out of his isolation and taught him all his basics; i.e. how to hold his tableware, the need to wear shoes, and so on. haru was the first decent person to connect with him (haru's mom made things worse at first), and in this story ren is completely haru-centric. his world, especially at the beginning, revolves completely around this person. part of the ongoing story is about ren learning to make connections with other people.

as for people saying that no kid would act as mature as ren, again, i disagree.
ren is extremely intelligent, and most highly intelligent kids act older than their age. add to that his early horrible traumatic experiences and you've got a kid whose brain runs at light speed and whose life experiences far outweigh most kids his own age. hell, his life experiences outweigh a lot of adults i know now.

and on top of that, once haru "tamed" the wild beast, ren spent the next several years in the company of adults. only adults. its no surprise to me that he would be far more mature than kids his own age and i'm surprised, given this background, that people seem to think he acts too mature for his age.

on another note, the japanese school system is different than ours. ren would have been 15 when he graduated jr high, not 13. so he's 15-16 when they move into the house. whether you count that as shota or not is up to you i guess. most kids fool around at least a little by that age and i don't have a problem with it in this case.

i also don't really have a problem with the age gap. there are a TON of shoujo stories out there with a 15-16 yr old high school girl dating her teacher or someone else with the same age gap so it seems hypocritical to condemn it in this story just because they're both guys.

lastly, they're not blood-related nor were they raised together. there's no incest taboo to break because there is no incest.

as you might guess, i like the story. i always enjoy abe miyuki's work, which tends to make me stop and think a bit, and the art is lovely.

for those who find the contents offensive but enjoy the art i suggest you try Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike! instead, its barely shounen ai and the mc is an only child.

One of the best Yaoi manga

I heard that there will be anime version of this manga coming out >.< this is seriously one of the best yaoi, i know a lot of you disgusted by the relationship between haru n ren, but for me, Im totally ok with it. For those who said that there will be no child like Ren exists in real life, I just want to tell u all that I myself have a sister that acts like Ren (only that she is a girl and she can be considered as mature at early age) .. and I did found out that this manga took more time to read than other manga.. I used 3 hours straight to finish 15 chapters and now my eyes are so tired =.= maybe because they have 50-60 pages in a chapter?

Although there are some reviewers saying that Haru is a pedophile and that they're committing incest.. this is not quite true. First of all, they're not actually brothers and Ren wasn't really raised by Haru from birth so its fine for them to develop romantic feelings for one another. Also, they don't have very much of an age gap, and the only reason why their relationship would make anyone uncomfortable is the fact that Ren is so young when they start being sexually attracted to one another. However, when compared to real boys its actually quite normal for Ren to start doing those kinds of things at his age. He's a teenager, and he's going through puberty so its only normal for him to start being sexually attracted to the person that he loves. At least Haru is keeping himself together and not jumping on the opportunity to have sex with Ren. Haru is constantly telling Ren that he belongs to him regardless of whether they have sex or not, and that they should wait until he's an adult. I find that very admirable. As for all the kissing they did in the first few chapters where Ren is still a child, it was innocent kissing between a child and a teenager!! Its fine for a young adult to kiss or show affection to children. If you try to turn the story into something perverted it WILL become uncomfortable for you so just take your yaoi glasses off and read the manga like a normal person.
In any case, I really enjoyed reading this manga. The whole process of Ren growing up was shown in a very natural and realistic manner. The mangaka went so far as to include his childhood stage, his sexual awakening, and his rebellious stage. Its nice to step away from all the other smut filled BL mangas, and to enjoy something thats so full of life and innocent love.

Yes, it's kinda have similiar story like Oniichan to Issho. The difference is just Super lovers is yaoi and the other is straight love.
It's story about not related blood sister like/love each other with the oldest brother.

I don't think the age gap between Haru and Ren is that big, the thing is that at first Ren is too young, but at chapter 22 he's already 16 years old (if this was a story about a 20 year old guy dating a 30 o more year old man, no one would say the age gap is big...). And how a lot of reviewers already said, at first it's not really yaoi because there's nothing really going between them, they start developing feelings but it's nothing explicit, it's cute and really lovely.
So I don't think this is shota, it's not incest either (they're not really sibilings, you know), and I don't think the plot is unconfortable... It's just like any other yaoi there is, but the story take a lot more time-gap to develope (and I found this like a good thing).
I love this one a lot, and I think it's one of my favorite yaoi. It's cute, touching, funny and sad, and the art is just amazing =) The worst thing is that it takes a lot of time to update hehehe

Promising manga but seriously?? I completely forgot it was yaoi when I started reading it. I think this would be better if Ren and Haru didn't went into that kind of relationship at all and just stayed as brother complex duo. I'm usually okay with incest or characters with huge age gap but this just made me kind of comfortable. Though I could say I've read mangas that are weirder than this, super lovers was just plain Pedobear LOL. I mean Ren is like 13?? If Ren was at least 18& up I think this will be tolerable

For some reason this didn't feel like shota to me until I sat back and thought about how old Ren was supposed to be (the age gap is actually really big). His personality and his behavior don't match his age whatsoever. Which if a kid like that really existed, I can't even fathom what he'd be like. He'd probably have no place in society to really belong because he'd have trouble getting along with most people, which is really sad to think about. Anyway, that's not the main point. This was really good from the beginning, but then, I stopped reading it. Maybe it was the combination of slow updates and mind-boggling developments that made me think, "What the heck is wrong with everyone in this series?" I'm not really sure, but I got frustrated and bored with it. It had a lot of potential to be better than the way it developed but then it took a pretty typical path with some unnecessary melodrama. If I'd wanted that, I would have read a shoujo instead. Anyway, it is in fact shota, so read at your own discretion.

Let's just talk about something...

Well, although I understand why people often tends to feel awkward about this manga and its plot, I just want to remember to everyone that this is a fictional work intended to satisfy a certain audience that, let's be honest, wants to satisfy some fujoshi's thirst of kinks and that japanese public (the most relevant public for authors) it's kind of ok with all this and more.
Besides that, the characters are really well developed, the art, as always, is remarkable, and the plot is great.
About the characters, I'm the same age as Haru and I remember just fine when I was Ren's age, maybe because of that it's easier for me to get both sides; first they're not normal people whit normal backgrounds and normal feelings, people this way tend to be attracted to the same kind of person (that's why I like how everyone seems to agree on how similar they both are). Second, it seems that some people thinks Haru's some kind of old fart who's being a horrible adult, I just want to let you know that at 22 people are NOT perfect adults who knows everything, and actually the thoughts Haru has about Ren it's a very realistic way of showing how young adults trouble their minds because they're dating someone too young or too old, his worry about how far he can go with him is the realest thing I've ever saw with a plot with a kinda relevant age gap. Third, kids Ren's age nowadays are parents and it's not surprising teenagers want to have sex or being reassured of they're feelings through sex, let's just not pretend as if all 15/16 year olds are some kind of pure angels fallen from heaven because they're not.
About the plot, the element that makes it interesting is that they're have all kind of REAL LIFE PROBLEMS. It's not just the relationship between Haru and Ren, it's also about them and the twins, the guardians, they're friends. Even if Ren and Haru are some kind of hikikomori/antisocial type, the plot makes us see how they get through everyday life as they met new people; they have also family and school problems beside the 'couple' problems, which just makes it more real than some manga with a happy go lucky plot. People minds are all diferent, complicated and unique, that's what makes this manga interesting enough to follow it.
Sorry for the really big text, as a final statement I just want to make it clear that this is my point of view and I don't intend in any way make you think the same as me (except maybe the part of teenagers being sexually active at young age because that's a fact in pretty much everywhere), so feel free to love age gaps or to feel disgusted by it, and if you don't like it or Ren seems too shota for you, then do you a favor and don't read it !

Okay, here's the thing. I love this manga a lot for the art and the somewhat realistic conflicts that Ren and Haru both have with each other. But I also hate this manga for the relationship progress of the main pairing. REN WAS A KID FOR GODSAKE (not that I'm against shota or anything) BUT OMG HARU YOU CANT JUST DO THAT TO A KID

Halfway reading, it sort of feels as though Ren is inclined to love Haru not only as a brother anymore because as it was stated in the manga itself, Haru had imprinted himself on Ren. I know that Ren has issues but to me, him falling for Haru feels...forced..?

(Spoilers ahead)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Okay so Ren hates kind people, he's scared of them. Haru was the first kind person that ever tried to get close to Ren and it worked. Imagine if it wasn't Haru. Imagine if it was some girl from west canada just like him. Would he feel inclined to fall in love with her too?? What if after Ren returned to Canada without Haru chasing after him? Would he still feel inclined to love him? It's like Ren was forced to love him for the absurd reason of opening the kid up on one fateful summer. I just feel that Haru doesn't understand what he has done to the kid (who is a teenager now btw)

I dunno, maybe it's just me.... Then again, anyone remember Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike?? What if Kyomine never met Takara? Wouldn't he still be chasing Ayako?

Anyway, this manga has upset half its readers but still pleased the other half. I'm on the bridge with it because I don't like where their relationship is going but I'm still reading to see where these two will lead us.

Needs a big fat label warning: SHOTA!

Yes, the MC is a big fat pervert with an ephebophillic love for Ren. Characters in the story are also not reporting statutory rape as they should and his problematic comments have comedic uncomfortable reactions. One could argue that Ren consents and wants it, which is true, but one could also argue imprinting and that Ren never really knew anything else. I'm personally for the former, because we're taken through the story in a way you can obviously see how they fell for each other. Oh, and if anyone ever accuses any objection Ren ever had,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the reason that Ren said no those few times is because he was trying to desperately maintain a brotherly role to Haru because that's what he thought Haru wanted of him. Ren did this because he thought his love for Haru (romantic) and Haru's love for him were not the same. Which was obviously not true, but alas.

That Ren acts like an old man-child is no excuse, but it certainly is a huge reason I can read this. Ren is a very lovable character, and possibly the best kuudere I've ever seen in fiction. Haru is... well. He's trash, but I don't hate him. As much as I'd have liked him to hold out until Ren turned legal age--welp. I guess she didn't want to do the time skip. And also, as a Canadian, I'd really like to insist that people are not kissing monsters there.

If you're fine with reading a story that has that, everything else is literally amazing. The art, the characters, THE WRITING. Dear god. Like, their relationship is /profound/. How Ren so often manages to say things that just shake Haru's heart, especially. Hnngf. It's not just romance romance romance, either. There /is/ focus on sense of belonging, and relationships between the actual brothers, and between Haruka and Ren.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I was actually really glad she didn't go with the typical idealistic "oh your mother abandoned you because she had no choice" and instead went with it more realistically. Oh, and as a child that legitimately despises their mother, I can tell you right now it's 1000% possible to do so.

Basically, only read this if you're capable of separating reality and fiction (and really, young'ns of Ren's age that actually act like that just do not exist) and have no intention of letting this impact you in a way that'd lead you to harm minors. ...Unless you are a minor, in which case, I'm pretty sure depends as long as both consenting parties are of legal age? Not that you should be reading this at all, but I have no right to tell you off for it. (cough)
