Maybe don't make child abuse a running gag in your childcare manga?
Like it is so grotesquely out of place in this otherwise entirely sweet and heartwarming manga, and every time it happens it is treated as totally normal narratively. The toddler cries every time and there was a single time where they actually addressed the problem because he hit him too hard... and then the status quo never changed, he kept hitting him in future chapters!
That's not to mention the character whose routine joke is that he gets a little too excited about how cute the babies are causing excessive nosebleeds which makes the characters around him think he is a pedo.
I don't know what the fuck the author was thinking with these gags but reading this series genuinely makes my blood boil.
Want a similar series without child abuse and tangential references to pedophilia? Read Hanamaru Kindergarten instead.
Reading this manga is like having a warm soup during a fever. Amazing characters, cute story
The toddler characters are cute. I just don't like the part where the older Kamitani brother hit his younger brother and made him cry. The author kept using this as a running gag, I don't really get it.
Maybe it is a cultural difference, I guess watching a child crying after getting hit is funny for them.
Every time i go to ytube I have in my feed the scene of Ryu crying cuz he cant report anything to his parents anymore. Even when i think of it randomly, i get teary eyed. Oh gosh, im tearing up again
If you need a great pick me up this is it.
Let’s be real though there’s absolutely no plot to this at all and nothing substantially happens except for day to day activities of the kids and honestly it’s okay that there’s no plot.
It’s downright sugary sweet and super funny with its cast of very eccentric characters and the writing is cute how it emulates how children speak
This is one of the rare shoujo you can come back to after not reading it for a while and still get what’s going on.
Dunno how they’ll ever try to end it but hopefully not I really like the episodic format it’s had for yeaes
Idk about the comment who is beneath me, u know im reading crayon shinchan and doraemon since i was child and Shinchan always Kindergarten (tbh there a chapter in manga when Shinchan goes to elementary school or become adult) but then the story comeback to shinosuke being kindergarten child again.. or like Nobita always bein in 5th grade all my life but its just how the story goes and.. seeing the genre this manga its comedy and slice of life. oferall this is so good i love this manga and anime too so cute ans adorable ( ˘ ³˘)❤
For some reason, the passage of time in this manga makes no sense. In the manga, winter passes, then summer, then winter again, and for some reason as of chapter 43, the students are still in their first year of high school. Not sure if the author just randomly jumps around or what, but I find it too ridiculous.
I know it's silly to have a manga move me this much (it is a comic after all...) but damn, those first 5 chapters got me crying. Tokeino Hari's artwork is one of a kind...too cute for words! And although the message of each chapter is silly and light hearted, it's done in a heartwarming way. Tugs at my heartstrings!!
So this was a series I was skeptical to start reading at first, it seemed a bit too sappy for my tastes. Well now that I've started reading it I can confirm that yes it is pretty cheesy at times but that doesn't mean it's not full of heart. For one I think that this may be impossible to hate, if you find someone that completely dislikes this manga they may be some sort of emotionless serial killer. Practically every page is bursting with these super adorable children that it's hard not to smile from just the visuals alone. On top of that though there's still the interaction between all of the characters, with plenty of scenes where people bond with each other and the imparting of life lessons. The relationship of brotherly love between Ryuuchi and Kotarou in particular is extremely touching, it's refreshing to see an older brother who has such unconditional devotion to a sibling.
Sometimes I do wish they'd focus on the non-children characters just a bit more because I think that would help the story feel a bit more rounded but that's a pretty minor complaint. The only other issue I even have is that the story pulls on your heart strings enough that it could start to feel a bit... emotionally manipulative at times. The children in particular are so small and have such large innocent faces that when they're sad you really feel it. This is probably also a weird complaint but it is something I thought while reading.
I really like this story. It feels like a manga someone made because they wanted to make it, not because they thought it would appeal to the most amount of people. Every aspect of the story has a lot of heart to it, and when I read it I frequently had to stop because I would get the feels. Give it a shot, if nothing else it's charming and doesn't feel like a cliched story premise.
