I can't stand Nikaidou!!!

Before that ***hole Nikaidou entered the story, I would've given it a 10 out of 10. However after an insensitive bast*** ***hole like him came along, I'm demoting this whole thing a full 5 points. Kill him or get rid of him otherwise, but I can't stand that ****ed up shi* of an idiot that repeatedly and always destroys the mood this manga managed to give me. -.-

I'm going to be honest and admit something a little embarrassing: it took me a couple tries to really get into sangatsu no lion. I'm not quite sure what it was that initially made things difficult for me. Maybe it's just that the plot seems so superficial at first glance. The whole setup is laden with cliches and rife with the potential for petty melodrama. Initially I think I just wrote it off as such.

The reality, however, is quite different. Reading a little more closely, there's a strange depth to the storytelling. My personal impression is that this is the result of the script being written almost in the style of a novel- unlike we usually see with most continuous projects, there are very clear events that seem to have been planned meticulously in advance, all gradually progressing towards a highly intentional ending. As a result, the pacing is fantastic. Everything has relevance, and the atmosphere is changed in order to deftly guide the reader's interpretation. Even the aforementioned cliches to the setup are wonderfully subverted by infusing reality into the personalities and situations, and lightening the melodrama with appropriate touches of humor.

The art, while slightly flowery for a seinen project, still suits the environment perfectly well, and its technical aspects are up-to-snuff.

Give it a read.

This series, although only having six chapters, shows much potential as to be expected from Umino Chika. I can see that this is going to be unique because the reader does not have a firm grasp on the genre of this novel and it can really go anywhere as of now. Here's to an update soon, and that the project will sustain.

I wish for more chapters. I really like how the story is going so far. I want to know what's going to happen next because the characters have their own issues to deal with and it is interesting to see what they will do when the time comes that they have to face it.

Of course it looks shoujo-ish! The mangakas last series was Honey and Clover, a josei manga/anime. People don't just suddenly pop out new genre-cliches artstyles out their asses

But the manga itself seems interesting so far =D We'll see how it goes from there
