I'm so disappointed with how everything turned out in the end. The beginning was so good, I really enjoyed it, even when the thing with Yuuki happened I really enjoyed the Yuuki/Kaname plot but everything else was complete bullshit. So bad.

8| Dat ending?

I didn't expect to like this manga, and I still don't at the moment, but never did I expect such a stupid ending.

Aside from the confusing ass web dealing with people's relationships, I really did not like that love triangle. I always like the underdog so Zero was my favorite, but it was frustrating that he still went after Yuki despite all the circumstances. Leave her to live out her life with Kaname or kill both of them; I wanted Zero to come out on top of his game.

BUT DAT ENDING.

Confused.

The story gets confusing at times along the way but that is fine. However, up until the end, the most confusing thing would be who Yuki really loved. Apparently she loved Kaname to the point that after living with Zero she gave up her life for Kaname. Before that, when Kaname "died" as a vampire Yuki and Zero started reconnecting again. This time it was said that she loved Zero. This is just confusing. Or is it that I just want her to choose one even if the other dies?

In addition, who then is the Vampire Knight?
At first I thought it was Zero but things started again to blur... maybe it's really Kaname??

The art is fine, but some characters look really alike.

It started out strong...

Let's all agree it went downhill after
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
she found out she was a vampire...

I mean, Yuki was a really strong character through out the whole thing but her wishy washy love for both guys get ANNOYING!!! First she'll be like "I believe in Kaname!" and then she's like "I'll kill Kaname for you Zero!" Then she's like "Let's get this straight Zero, I belong to Kaname! let's look for him together!" The heck girl? There'll also be a chapter where she finds out she loves Zero, then the next she sleeping with Kaname? Like seriously girl? I mean wtf? Are you just doing forplay?! Even before that we can see that she only has eyes for Kaname but then why would she even admit that she loves Zero and kiss him and such? I HATE the yo-yo type of girls. She's obviously playing around with them in her hands and the puppets are going along with it too.

Then there's the sequence where whatever Kaname starts anything, never had a true meaning behind it. First, I'm guessing he killed the pure blood to turn her back into a human but then suddenly he decides he wasn't doing it anymore and wanted to become a parent. I mean I can see why, but all those pure-bloods' lives were just wasted away. Even Ichijou's lover, Sara. And when did he ever find out how to turn pure-bloods into vampire anyways? It was never mentioned or exaggerated until that last bit. Unless I missed something. But the whole plot is a little confusing and hard to keep up with too.

Next, we understand that Zero is obviously in love with Yuki but he say he'd kill her the next time he meets her and then suddenly they went to the ball together and he suddenly bust out his dancing moves. Which is totally out of character. I mean there's nothing wrong with getting out of character but ease us into it, just don't throw it out of no where. And plus that whole memory loss thing was VERY unnecessary. It didn't have any point to the storyline whatsoever. Still Zero is a yummy character to look at. he also never got revenged and his whole emo character just didn't have a resolution in the end.

Then I'm also curious about the ending section, where all the vampires are out to get Kaname. It's like all the vicious and hardcore vampire hunter and ice-making and fire-breathing vampire suddenly becomes so powerless. No one was using their power to fight and all Yuki was doing was running around with her spare. Then suddenly Zero just blossoms out of nowhere and the fight is over? Wahhh?!?! Confused.

I guess it's safe to say that the storyline just lost track somewhere along the way and the main climax was just that Yuki was Kaname's sister. Then towards the end, it was rushed and undeveloped.
Even so I do gotta say I LOVE the anime and the first half of the manga. I waited so long and it was disappointing but I can't really bring myself to hate it too. Anyways this is my review of it.
BTW
Why'd Zero died? Does half breeds not live forever? What happened to Aido? And something that spark my interest is, was Yuki's children also in a incest relationship? None of them had a 'partner' next to them even though they been living for a thousand years. O.o Many things felt unresolved.

I have many things I would like to say about this manga.... It started out well enough, and just kept going downhill from there.

1) Art style. Ok. Not much complaints here. Her bishounen guys are hot hot hot hot hot and the girls are enviable. But, there are times when I can't tell one character from another because they pretty much look the same.... (especially for side characters)

2) Trivial things that really really bothered me.
WAY too many characters introduced without going into things--and they served no purpose except to provide more angst to agitate the readers.
Not to mention all of them had names hard to remember. (probably because I don't know Japanese)... Yuki and Zero are easy enough to remember, but after that Maria, kaname(is that even his first name??), shuki?, and etc just became too much. And all the surname mixed with first name usage confused the hell out of me.

3) Plot
I'm not here to complain about who Yuki ended up choosing as mate--- I don't even care. After the sereis went down hill, i finished just so i can be finished with it. I was already emotionally done.

Instead, I'm here to warn you guys that the plot gets more and more meshed up and twisted to the point you'll probably get confused (very confused) if you take a break from the manga and come back after 5 months or something. The entire thing is frustrating, and these plot holes keep popping up and are never covered.

And because everyone on board is a freaking vampire, they only have the expression of looking stoned and bored out of their mind.

4) Positive parts
- the bishounen guys can be make genuinely care for them--that's how hot they are drawn.
- character development is pretty good (especially for the male characters out there)
- Spicy situations bigrazz
- humor (most of this disappeared after Yuki changed)

Ending and misunderstood Kaname

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I knew the girl was Kaname's daughter even before reading the epilogue. I find it befitting actually; since chapter 89, I just knew the author would end with a 3-some-esque scenario. So there, Yuuki consummated with both guys, bore children for both, lived with one while died for the other.

This epilogue pretty much confirms who she ultimately loves more: Kaname.
Who is THE vampire knight? Kaname.

The author loves Kaname a lot. Both the last chapter and the epilogue end with him (being happy). I can understand why Zero's fans are so mad though, his appearance in the last chapter and the epilogue does make him seem like only a substitute while Yuuki is waiting for Kaname.
I'm not mad because even though I love Zero and Kaname, I do love Kaname more. From the first chapter, I just knew there was something behind his pensiveness and angsty aura. That something was eternal loneliness and selflessness shrouded behind a stoic face. He is so misunderstood, both by characters in the story and a lot of readers.

DAT ENDING THO

First off, I love the art. I love Yuki's character design. I love looking at the characters, the scenery. Basically, everything about the art style is just fantastic. 10 out of 10.

Now, on to the story.
Even after having finished the series a few months ago, I still cannot help but HATE the ending. With all my might. I just, I just.......I just can't.

All I have to say is, if you want to read a story with beautiful art, here ya go. But BE PREPARED for a looong headache.

It started off really well. The plot was interesting and drew you in. Alas, that did not last. The story just got more and more ridiculous as it went on and at one point the characters become so unrealatable you just want to stop reading. The drawing is beautiful though - you could just read it for the bishounen bigrazz

I feel as if the series should've ended when
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yuuki turned out to be a vampire. I mean, the the beginning was good, but then it just went downhill. Everything after Yuuki's awakening seemed forced.

It was a big enough twist that Zero was a vampire, but then Yuuki too...it would've be nice for Yuuki and Kaname to live happily ever after and have a few kids, and let Zero be moody for the rest of his life.
