Description
From Del Rey:
Hana Suzuki loves only two things in life: eating and sleeping. So when her handsome classmate Izumi Oda talks her into joining the school hockey club, how is she going to survive getting up early, working hard, and playing well with others? True, the Grand Hockey Club is full of boys - super-cute boys at that - so maybe it won't be so bad after all…

this manga is funny great read but really there is nothing to do with hockey... all they do is make up excuses to travel around. Rich kids have nothing better to do then to travel around and waste money.
Zomgg never in my life have i laughed so much and for so long. Seriously, every page of this manga i'm like BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and my lil brada next door will start shouting for me to shut up while i keep on laughing and i end up unconsciously having a screaming match with him
I LOVE THIS MANGA! its seriously sooo hilarious and there wasn't much romance but that there is a slow progress. i think everyone who want a good laugh in a shoujo should read this. promise.
this is one of the best mangas out there. why is it not famous? so underrated.
for those who compare it with ouran, heads up guys, GOKU STARTED FIRST accd to wiki. GOKU: year 2002 ouran: year 2003 so who copied who? well, it doesn't really matter. let's just enjoy both series. ^^,
somebody mentioned about the lack of romantic chemistry. i do get your point since this manga focused more on the comedy rather than the romance. so their chemistry may not be really visible for some people. i know, their nonstop bickering and elementary school antics are not the most romantic thing. and being unaware of their feelings towards each other doesn't help either. but for me though, i find the two main casts suited for each other. they have this weird connection. they just need a little more push from others to realize their feelings. good thing the romance gets better in the later volumes. XD
the humor in this manga is amazing. i can't help but laugh. the plot is so random and nonsensical that it boosts the comedy factor in this manga. another funny thing to note is that no matter how irrational some plot is, the other characters are still aware of reality. for example in one chapter, a bear became their goalie. the readers are convinced by the main cast that it is already an accepted circumstance in the manga. but when the ending came, reality strikes. a bear can never be a hockey player. LOL.
i've already read up to volume 9. but i just really want to ask, will they ever get to play a decent hockey game and win their first victory? XD
This is probably my 2nd favorite (shoujo) manga right now! I absolutely love all the awkward/sweet moments between Izumi and Hana. Not only is this manga awkward/sweet it's also hilarious! I laughed so hard on some parts! By the way I think everyone needs to stop comparing it to Ouran... yes they ARE similar... but we've all established that. And well My Heavenly Hockey Club actually came first... So maybe Ouran should be the one with all the comparisons. Anyway this is great manga, a total MUST read!
Ai Morinaga is my favorite shojo mangaka, and this manga is really good. I like the obscene amounts of food, the comedy can be pretty funny and the core cast is pretty likeable. The only problem is...the two leads have NO romantic chemistry at all. None! Nada! Zilch! They're more like siblings, or friends who don't like each other all that much. It makes the romantic scenes really awkward and unconvincing, but Morinaga improves matters by keeping such scenes few and far between. Hope she keeps the status quo as it is or this manga could go down the drain in a hurry.
This manga is so funny. I wonder why it isn't as, if not more, popular than Ouran. Though this manga is similar to Ouran, I like this manga more. I find it funnier, in a nutty kind of way, but I also like how the characters are actually developed. I like the strong personality of the female lead, and I think that everyone's distinct personality ties the story.
And this manga is sooo funny I couldn't stop laughing!! I highly recommend this.
I love this manga. the story is similar to OHSHC but it has a different... i dunno, FEEL i guess. But it's so hilarious and i think it's much simpler than ouran host club, even though it's just as good. FUNNINESS!
This one really resembles ouran a lot. The lead guy is an idiot in love with the oblivious lead girl. The cold calculating best friend of the idiot guy. And the twins!! How many mangas actually have twins in them? And with the same characteristics!! I have to admit that this is very funny really, though repetitive that at one point I decided to stop reading it. However, if you're just looking for (lots of) laugh then you should read this one.
It's just like MissRaw said; it's very simillar to OHHC however the art is very different what makes it acceptable and besides who doesn't like reading that kind of story even if it resembles another manga
Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Club reminds me of Ouran High School Host Club. The characters (the twins, the smarty, etc.) and the situation she got herself into, in the beginning (like Haruhi broke the vase and was forced to work as a Host club member to pay it off). It's too similar [at the beginning] actually.
