Description
From Del Rey:
Hana Suzuki loves only two things in life: eating and sleeping. So when her handsome classmate Izumi Oda talks her into joining the school hockey club, how is she going to survive getting up early, working hard, and playing well with others? True, the Grand Hockey Club is full of boys - super-cute boys at that - so maybe it won't be so bad after all…

Probably a go, if you are looking for a slow romance. Definitely a no-go, if you are looking for a sports manga. For all it matters, it could have been Gokuraku Seishun Tabero Bu, or something.
I've re-read this manga for the 6th time now and still haven't got tired of it. Yes, there's not much plot on the majority of the chapters but the comedy and the lightheartedness of it totally captured me. The romance took A LONG TIME to build up and, truth be told, the focus on romance just started about several chapters away from the end of the manga. This story is more comedy than romance, but when it did get to the love part, it didn't feel weird nor out of place (unlike other mangas I've read where the romance felt awkward when the mangaka tried to integrate it to the storyline) . Morinaga Ai really did a great job on this one.
And compared to OHSHC? Both are good and everything, but I really prefer this over Ouran. How much do I love this manga over Ouran? Well, I've read GSHB six times, as I've previously mentioned, and only read Ouran once. You get the idea, no? 8D
This was refreshingly fun and witty at the same time.Comedy was great, and I pretty much couldn't get myself to stop laughing over their hilariously crazy antics. Although this really dragged on for some time, I do think it suited the manga well despite the twisted plot and all. You'd keep wanting for more even if it's actually going nowhere...at least, that's what I think. True to its reverse-harem category, expect romance progressing at a snail's pace. After all, with all the other protagonists around, there's obviously little room for any romance, right? There is,however, something going on with both leads and I'm pretty sure you'll be quick enough to notice that. As for the title? I assume the author wanted to create something purely out of her own wits amongst a group,so explains the hockey thing..except that it started to conceal itself a few chapters later, and you might even wonder why it was called "My Heavenly Hockey Club" in the first place. Hana and Izumi probably make up the best parts of the story for me. They're both extremely childish that I somehow find it cute and interesting, although I wish, like the rest, for better chemistry. It's getting there, hopefully.
I love this manga. the story is similar to OHSHC but it has a different... i dunno, FEEL i guess. But it's so hilarious and i think it's much simpler than ouran host club, even though it's just as good. FUNNINESS!
The jokes are funny not lame, the story is a bit........... Unstable... It does not have any specific plot, the characters have no goals which makes it really funny xD so this manga is for no smart pals, its more for pass time and for those whose looking for fun new breeze NOT stressful manga xD 9.5/10 (^_^)
this manga is funny great read but really there is nothing to do with hockey... all they do is make up excuses to travel around. Rich kids have nothing better to do then to travel around and waste money.
Ai Morinaga is my favorite shojo mangaka, and this manga is really good. I like the obscene amounts of food, the comedy can be pretty funny and the core cast is pretty likeable. The only problem is...the two leads have NO romantic chemistry at all. None! Nada! Zilch! They're more like siblings, or friends who don't like each other all that much. It makes the romantic scenes really awkward and unconvincing, but Morinaga improves matters by keeping such scenes few and far between. Hope she keeps the status quo as it is or this manga could go down the drain in a hurry.
This manga is so funny. I wonder why it isn't as, if not more, popular than Ouran. Though this manga is similar to Ouran, I like this manga more. I find it funnier, in a nutty kind of way, but I also like how the characters are actually developed. I like the strong personality of the female lead, and I think that everyone's distinct personality ties the story.
And this manga is sooo funny I couldn't stop laughing!! I highly recommend this.
At the beginning, it was quite something. However, as the characters got more confused and oblivious about their feelings and others' it was not funny anymore, rather, annoying, cliched and stupid. So I skimmed through probably the last three volumes.
Meh, at least it somewhat "there" 8.4 probably a bit less.
