Description
Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine... for a horror movie. With her jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor, she's often mistaken for the haunting movie character Sadako. But behind her scary facade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when a popular boy in class befriends her, she's sure to make more than just that--she's about to make some enemies too!

In 2008 it won the Best Shoujo Manga award in the 32nd Annual Kodansha Manga Award. The series was also nominated for the first Manga Taisho awards in 2008.

..can't be as slow as another very good shoujo out there : Skip beat (try 190 chapters without a single kiss). What makes Kimi ni Todoke special is that it doesn't just focus on the main couple and forget all about other characters. This manga focuses on just not romance, but also friendship between the 3 girls, between the guys or even relationship between rivals etc. Flash backs are there to explain and further solidify that specific "couple"'s bond. Overall a very solid manga, which caters to a wide range of interests: popular guy-shy girl, shy guy-shy girl, childhood friends, love triangle, bromance, etc. Kimi ni todoke deserves its popularity and is definitely worth reading.

The overall story is good, but it is so padded with useless fluff in order to stretch things out. Who wants to read a 4 chapter childhood flashback flashback about a minor side character. I can't even remember that last time the main characters even had a real conversation in this manga. This manga has become painful to read.

I really can't understand why this manga is so popular. It's just sooooo f*cking slow. Ok, i don't wanna transformed the genre to smut but OMG, why don't you do something? Soo many volumes and nothing!?! Really?!? They will end up saying i love you before even kissing! And hey, that's not realistic, what everybody said to justify the slow progress.

Anyhow, it's realy frustrating, but aside that, it's a good manga, really good manga, reeeeeelly. But i won't wait every month for it, i just will wait the 25 volume be out and then , MAYBE, with luck, some kiss or sothing really romantic it's gonna happen.

so if you don't care about the slowness, dig in!

I started watching the anime first then I moved on to the manga. It is a sweet and endearing series but recently, I am losing interest in the manga after Sawako and Kazehaya got together. 65 chapters in and they still haven't kissed (if my memory serves me well) and the series is now focusing more on the side characters which is great but there's nothing of a major importance that is happening in the storyline to keep me interested. I ended up just skimming the pages. Sigh...I hope the pace will pick up soon. It used to be the manga that I waited for every month. It's still a great manga though I just wish it can be a more fast-paced than it is now.

I love this manga, but I am never reading a manga like this again because it is very, very, innocent for me. This is the only exception. It is slow paced, but that's what keeps you reading, well to me anyways.

It was one of my favorite mangas ever. It started off cute, and it kept getting better and better but now it's just a little...boring. They make a big deal out of every little thing, and it was fine but now it's just..boring. After a while, you expect the characters to stop being shy around each other, and it has happened, but too slowly. Also, it is the same thing over and over again, and when something major happens, it's only every 10 chapters.

I just think it's about time for it to end.

my only gripe with this manga is that sawako is GORGEOUS and pretty and not frightening-looking AT ALL. i mean, i know this is a shoujo manga and all but if the theme of the whole story revolves around a character looking scary/ugly/etc., i kind of expect them to :/ take for instance kuragehime, which is very true to the un-cuteness that all the characters are described as.

OMG Sawako is soo cuute!! I don't see how anyone can hate her and find her scary. She's so pure and timid (which is understandable due to what she's been through) you just want to hug her and just eat her up!! (in a you're so cute "lil baybee" way lol) I love (really love) the story and the art. Such a nice tale of love and friendship =]
I also love to see when a character develops and mature, it kinda makes me happy, and sorta puts me in the story lol I hated that before Sawako and Shouta got together, there were so many interference in their relationships. It was so frustrating! Like how dumb can you be to misunderstand that?! I would definitely say this is a must read <3

It's realistic. The love progress. How's your feeling when you're holding hands,first kiss,hugs.meeting family. I like Chizu and Ryu's relationship more though. hehe~<3

It may start off slow but it picks up and definately becomes an unstoppable page turner once Sawako and Kazehaya become boyfriend and girlfriend. They make an adorable couple, plus the side characters are really captivating as well and they start to get romantically paired up. Then it becomes a love story bursting at the seams with romance.
