Haru visits Canada to spend the summer holidays in the woodland house of his strict, strong-willed mother, Haruko. There, she burdens him with the responsibility of caring for his younger adoptive brother - a wild and unruly little boy named Ren who trusts no-one and prefers to wander in the woods with Haruko's dogs rather than associate other people. Haruko orders Haru to 'civilize' Ren. As the young man strives to teach Ren how to live in human society, their relationship gradually improves - so much so that Haru plans on taking his 'little brother' to Japan with him once he finds a job.
Unfortunately, fate has a cruel habit of interfering with one's plans.

I agree with OmNom. The beginning was so promising! I really enjoyed it (although the huge age gap made me uncomfortable, although I do sometimes read shotacon). But as the story "progressed," I really began to dislike it.

I suggest only reading the first 5 chapters.

This manga is heading almost exactly towards the direction where Junjou Romantica's title story was. The start is promising I don't deny, but once the fluff wears off the naked truth remains, exposing the repetitive cycle that keeps going on and on forever to such an annoying degree one just can't take it anymore. Character growth? Development? Seriously, people, what have you been reading? The best asset that the series offers could only be the pleasing-on-the-eye art unlike its familiar friend Junjou Romantica. But even that couldn't save the whole thing from going downhill steadily and reducing to nothing but a train wreck. I'm just more than eager waiting for this manga to end so that I could finally add it to my complete list and move on with my life. My rating might be too harsh but it's worth balancing the ratings out to make it more accurate. People overrate these types of mangas too much. Too much.

This started off really well, I have to say. In the beginning I really thought this was going to end up being something special. However as things have progressed, it's definitely become pretty average or even below average. The art is often very nice, I will give it that. Haru really, really comes off as a pedophile. He wants to touch Ren, but sees him as a child and doesn't want him to grow up. It's very uncomfortable for me to read, personally. I would enjoy this much more if Ren didn't look so young. Sometimes we see something interesting, but for the most part, the most interesting parts of the story happen pretty early on. At this point it's mostly just Ren and Haru fight about something and then make up. Ren wants to grow up. Haru doesn't want him to. Rinse and repeat.

My favorite! Love it! I think its the art that caught my attention, then the growth of the charcters that kept it. I find myself rooting for Ren/Haru and I get super excited when I see the next chapter is out! I love the relationship between the two. Not really realistic but thats what makes it super cool. All in all it does what its supposed to do: takes me to another place for 10 minutes and emerses me in a really cool story!!! 9/10 for me!!

Right now, Super Lovers is the best yaoi manga i´ve ever read.
At first i was a bit unsure because Ren and Haru have eight years apart, and Ren was or is still very young compared to Haru. But theres is something that makes this manga really addictive. I don´t know what but i just love it!! I´ve already read it four or five times, and i think i´m slowly becoming crazy biggrin

This one definitely crosses the shounen-ai threshold. And there are quite a couple of intimate scenes to look forward to. I love the first 3 volumes, it definitely satiated my cravings with 10+ chapters to read at one shot.

However at the moment I feel that the mangaka seems to be dragging out some scenes - continually having (side) characters remind Haru/Ren how important they are for each other, but it seems like their relationship is taking baby steps towards growth/change.

At moments I can't shed the feeling that Haru is taking advantage of Ren and that their relationship isn't that healthy. The way Haru frets about people being around Ren, he has to realise that a true relationship isn't too much about possession, he needs to give space to Ren to grow up as well, and to forge more healthy relationships with people around him.

Hoping that it gets better; at the moment I still can't see their relationship growing into anything romantic yet. But at the same time I hope the mangaka doesn't drag things out either.

What else could I say? They already said it all. And I must say, this is one of my all-time favorite manga! *laughs* Well... the title.... I didn't actually think of this as lame or ridiculous. But it sounded like as if it's the super cliched 'you-and-me-against-the-world' crap, so I somewhat hope it isn't. Fortunately, and as what the story seems to be as of the latest chapter, it isn't.

The art... I simply love it. It's Abe Miyuki - sensei, after all (my favorite mangaka). The pages are all clean and clear. The eyes [which is bothersome for some readers - they say the mangaka have drawn it awfully big that it doesn't seem to be proportional to their face, most especially from her previous works]... they're just fine with me.

The plot... step-brothers relationship.... they aren't belong to incest, right? They're not blood-related, after all. *laughs* A slow-pacing story, it is, which I totally like. I mean, it's not like because I want her [the mangaka] to have numbers of volumes for this manga [think of her Komatta....the title's too long for me that I can't remember it 'til now]. I just want a manga where it could show how would the characters evolved during the series, how will the plot be more interesting as it goes by, and how the protagonists will truly feel the love as it develops during that slow yet sure flow of story as clearly and definite as possible. I just don't believe that love could've already been felt within a chapter or a book [but I know some exemptions with this. *chuckles*]. However, the 'amnesia' part, I think it's kinda neglected. I don't know...

The characters... well... Haru is an airhead idiotic brother/lover! Doing those 'stuff' with Ren and saying things as if what they have done isn't related to it. Nah. He's too dense. While Ren, he's just too cute and cheeky but matured enough for his age. I wouldn't be sticking to this manga if it wasn't for Ren (aside from the fact that it is Abe - sensei's work). The side characters as well, they don't seem to be like some nuisance useless figures on the story. All of them seem to have a purpose to keep the story way interesting as it is than when they aren't present at all [I don't like 'bubble-kind' character who goes poof and poof out of the blue]. BTW, I also like the twins - Shima and Aki [I'm a fan of Shima. Haha!].

I just hope... hoping with my all... that it won't come out as like how Komatta has. I mean, it's not clear if they ended up together... not as friends but more of it. Yeah.

All in all... I love it! biggrin I'm giving it 9 for now.*evil laugh*

I totally agree with previous comment! After I read Super Lovers (weird name but to dummy like me it's easy to remember) it's almost impossible to find better. Love it.

Story is going forward slowly, but every chapter gives something to it's reader. Character desings are great, and I love their expressions. I simply can't find anything negative at Super Lovers.

If you haven't read it yet, read it now. It's more than worth it! .. Also sorry my bad english *A*

Ignore the comment below (haha, joking, or maybe not), but I feel like you didn't seriously give this manga a try or maybe you're just using the wrong words to describe your opinion. Yet who am I to judge, since this is your own opinion. Anyways...

I want to say that this manga is ridiculously wonderful, so good that now my expectations are so high and now it's so hard to find manga that reaches to what caters my attention. The art is amazing, it's nothing at all of what you'd find in typical 'screw and let's fall in love' yaoi manga, it's breathtaking and detailed - it can be beautiful and it can be adorable, and the characters are not at all shallow.

Super Lovers, despite its odd title name has a really well-developed plotline along with their characters, and the romance is really cute... It's slow, but well-paced. The age difference doesn't really bother much either, because while 'sexual activities' do show up, they won't be doing anything until 'Ren' is of legal age - because they really do consider that here, ... I also enjoy how light-hearted it is, how the siblings can accept their older brother's and their younger's awkward relationship (along with their friends and most of their acquaintances). It's nice reading something realistic, but at the same time refreshing and away from negative energy.

It's so warm and cute, I really adore it.
