OMG Sawako is soo cuute!! I don't see how anyone can hate her and find her scary. She's so pure and timid (which is understandable due to what she's been through) you just want to hug her and just eat her up!! (in a you're so cute "lil baybee" way lol) I love (really love) the story and the art. Such a nice tale of love and friendship =]
I also love to see when a character develops and mature, it kinda makes me happy, and sorta puts me in the story lol I hated that before Sawako and Shouta got together, there were so many interference in their relationships. It was so frustrating! Like how dumb can you be to misunderstand that?! I would definitely say this is a must read <3

It may start off slow but it picks up and definately becomes an unstoppable page turner once Sawako and Kazehaya become boyfriend and girlfriend. They make an adorable couple, plus the side characters are really captivating as well and they start to get romantically paired up. Then it becomes a love story bursting at the seams with romance.

everyone keeps saying that they dropped this series because they found the slow pace boring, which it it (slow paced i mean) but i really love it because of that because it makes everything seem more real and more meaningful. i also ADORE sawakos character, shes not some weak cliche airhead who gets the sparkley bishounen, shes shy humble and kinda clueless, but you just cant hate her for it because its one of the aspects that makes her so cute, and kazehaya isnt the cliched bishounen, hes a normal guy and hes popular because hes fun to be around and not because hes rich or drop dead gorgeous, which is really refreshing. another thing it the art, i love this style because it looks more real and the eyes arent huge and shimmering like a normal shoujo and i think that the faces can express different emotions more clearly, like when someones supposed to look scary, they look scary. i find thts not always the case in shoujos. you HAVE TO READ THIS!!! even if you dont like slow paced stuff you will adore kimi ni todoke, even my friend who likes almost nothing but smut fell in love with kimi ni todoke when i made her read it! ^-^

It's pure, simplistic and refreshing. However I think what I'm not use to about it is that it's slow and it takes a while to develop.
For those of you claiming it's not cliche, truth is, it is. But as there are some who mentioned, the way its presented makes it original and unique. I dropped it after the third volume because I found it boring but I think I might pick it up again considering I have so much time.
I recommend it even though I found it boring because it's slow-paced. I know that a lot of shoujo fanatics would love it. Girls in shoujo mangas are always naive, but I think what makes Sawako stand out from the rest is her personality. She's not obnoxious but she's humble, modest and meek. And I suppose this is what really connects her with the readers.
I really love the characters, they're real and they pop out of the page.
EDIT: So I gave it another chance and reread it. My heart is exploding from the sweet fluffiness and I guess I have also joined the group of fangirls. It's so heartwarming and endearing. I absolutely love the anime btw.

First of all, if you're not a shoujo fan, I probably wouldn't read it. Because you will feel disgusted by the sweet shoujo-ness that oozes out of it every chapter.
But for shoujo fans, I would recommend it. NOTE: It does move slower than other shoujos. This is NOT, as some may believe, a drag on the story however, it is the author's attempt to develop all the characters. In this story, the side characters aren't ornaments that need to be paired off with each other––they each have their own struggles and their interactions with the main characters help all of them grow in their own ways. Yes, there are several misunderstandings, but taking the context of the story and character's individual personalities into mind, THEY ARE BOUND TO HAPPEN. It would be ridiculous if the author suddenly threw away Sadako's innocence and naivete and Kazehaya's insecurities. I found the story somewhat refreshing, as far as the characters and character developments go, but the plot is so-so. Overall?
Characters: 9.5. I don't give this score often, but the way she develops the characters is actually quite realistic. My sincerest apologies if you don't appreciate this.
Plot: 6.8. It's a shoujo high school romance. The characters save the plot from becoming a 5 or 6.
Art: For me, at least a 9. But to each her own.
My advice? It's not exactly a new thing to shoujo. But it is adorable, and the characters are all likeable in their own ways if you open your mind to it. However, as for all shoujos, it's not for everyone.

I really enjoyed this in the beginning. I really liked the characters and the style of their relationship-- I love love love romances which involve the two people growing and improving through knowing each other (not just making gooey eyes and acting like retards).
All was fine and dandy, and Sawako and Shouta were getting along adorably, when up sprang an interminable arc in which they both angsted, interminably, about whether or not the other one liked them.
Now, this arc was a shock to me in part because I had actually forgotten that Sawaka and Shouta hadn't officially started dating yet...since it was THAT obvious that their relationship was already one of mutual affection...
But in general the entire thing felt contrived, and ridiculous. So I waited, impatiently, for it to end so that we could get back to the actual story.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Eventually I gave up. But it is a pity...

I admit that I definitely did push this series aside because I thought it was boring and really slow-paced but after some persuasion from a friend of mine, I decided to give it a try and honestly, it's one of the cutest manga I've ever read. Sure, the romance is slow and the misunderstandings in this series really agitated me but in some sense, I thought that it was realistic and showed developments in each characters. Speaking of characters, Sawako is really adorable. Sure, she's not physically strong but mentally, I think she's the strongest of all. She has never let anything anybody said phases her. And she only takes them as encouragement and is really hardworking, which is an amazing trait for a female lead. Shouta, on the other hand, has got to be the most perfect male lead EVER. He is sooooo cute and like Sawako said, extremely refreshing. The way the mangaka drew him.. god, he's adorable. And I'm always smiling whenever he smiles hehe. Anyways, my biasness aside, I found the other characters really lovable as well. Including Sawako's 'rival' Kurumi. I think the charm of the series itself is how innocent and pure it is. The art and main characters gives off a very fresh and.. honest feeling. Or maybe it's just me lol. All in all, I really enjoyed this manga and I'm trying to wait patiently for the next chapter to come out I find Sawako & Shouta's relationship so lovable and despite what everyone said, very enjoyable and not boring at all. I mean, I'm tired of mangas that has the leads jump right into a relationship after meeting each other. imo, those are cute.. for awhile. But nothing's better than a sweet, realistic romance like Kimi ni Todoke.

Alright so maybe their romance was a bit slow.. it took him 30 chapters to confess and10 more for them to actually go out.. LOL. But it was cute nevertheless.

i would say its a very cute manga, but reeeally boring if you watch it in a three days in a row...there is no action, everything revolves around misunderstandings, its a vicious circle, because when finally SOMETHING starts to happen, after a second, the story goes back to the begining, its really frustrating...but actually, i would still recommend it, if you are patient and love a cute romance

I like this type of manga, i'm addicted to shoujo.
I like the first volumes, maybe till the 9th one, but we're now to the 14th volume and i have to say that not really much happened. I'm getting sick of sawako. She was so cute in the beginning and she is still cute but now it's boring.
I was about to stop reading it but in the last release the story of some of the side characters grow further so i'll stick a little more.
