Kuragehime follows Tsukimi Kurashita, an 18-year-old who moved from Kagoshima to Tokyo to become an illustrator. Tsukimi is a jellyfish otaku who comes to live in a shared bath and toilet, women-only apartment, Amamizukan. Other tenants include fujoshi, NEETs and others who consider fashion their natural enemy, calling themselves "Amars". One day, Tsukimi meets a fashionable and beautiful girl, Kuranosuke Koibuchi, who saves a jellyfish that is about to die at a pet shop. She later discovers that Kuranosuke is merely cross-dressing in order to evade inheritance of his father's occupation as a politician.

This is actually really interesting. I didn't expect much from the beginning, but it grew on me. The fact that the guy cross dressed was actually a turn off, but I stuck with it, and it's actually a nice and warm manga. It's very genuine and quite realistic. It's entertaining in warm your heart kind of way. I would recommend it as a light read.

WAAA!!! Just finished reading Ch.22 (latest post as of this review). So good! Like nothing I've ever read. The main characters are otakus, which is pretty weird and unconventional and you won't be disappointed. They are so lovable I want to keep reading, maybe because I'm a little strange myself and it's refreshing to see a main character with similar feelings (and drawbacks, sigh). The main protagonist loves jellyfish and it stems from the author's obsession of jellyfish. The author was an otaku back in the day. You know a work of art (literature, manga, whatever) is good when it's based on something personal to the author. The storyline is totally cheesy and cliched, some I've seen millions of times, but somehow I never get tired of these things. Plus, it's so adorable and cute (main character actually) with it's own unique spin. There's quite a bit of fashion in this too. You'd think with a house full of otakus, they'll never be exposed to fashion but the contrast is entertaining (the makeovers are the best part! who doesn't love makeovers?). Plus, the romance is pretty good. I love this. Please, whoever is scantalating, I'm counting on you.

Just now i finish to watch anime and i fascinated by it! Its simply adorable, funny, fresh and serious at the same time! Characters are amazing, each of them very unique, even if almost all of them are females its not some stupid annoying ´harem´! The author brings up a lot of important questions of modern society: obsession with beauty, NEET and otaku, child\parent problems, even the problem of housing and land´s development; fashion line and drawind style remainds me about my dear Paradise Kiss! This anime definitely gonna be one of my favourite! I wish there will be second or even third season! Pretty Please!!!!

... Found the joy of watching anime once again....after a 2 year does have some of the shoujoesque nuances, which had put me off shoujo in general but it has one aspect I like a lot
Spoiler (highlight to view)
cross-dressing straight guy
. which is why I picked it up. Its simple with lots of "innocent" characters, but a good read and watch. Anime follows the manga the latter of which is a bit lagged in the english translated bits. but at least cures some of the hunger for more when you are done with the latest chapter release...wish there were more of this type of quirky Joseis..

the anime compresses volume 4,5 and 6 into one episode.most of anime events are ended by chapter 29,volume 5 but a few bits of the anime continue into volume 6. some things are different between the anime and manga...

It's a great between piece. Humorous, light and quick with a steady background story that keeps the plot moving. The characters are wonderfully human and interesting- one without the other is no good. A pleasure to follow and I intend to buy the lot as soon as I can.

I watched the anime of this first and was already hooked by the opening. I just love how this mangaka creates such unique characters. Indeed, it is funny, but not too comedic. After I watched the two episodes, I read the manga and thought the anime had better quality of illustration even though their basically the same. I'm not saying I don't like the manga; I totally looove it! It doesn't say much about romance, but I am 99% sure there will be. If you love shoujo manga, I would recommend this.

well.. based from those two chapters that i've read... it's comedy and kinda mature... but i like it! especially kurara.... you guys should give it a try... it's really goood ;D...

Ehem! After a week i decided to edit my com. From before(which was the one up there) ^^^^
i'm sure people(some) who check out this manga watched the anime first(becuase for the past 6 weeks before the anime even came out, this page doesnt have enough info nor visitors till the anime was aired) well naturaly it'll become popular .. BUT THE ANIME AND THE MANGA WILL CONFUSE YOU!
I'm telling you,, both of them are good! BUT CHOOSE ONLY ONE OF THEM TO SEE ... Cuz since the manga and the anime ALMOST has the same day of release date... You'll get confused between the two, BUT! If u can bear with it... Go ahead..(^_^)
