Amazing Historical Manga

Reading and completing this made me think back that i was in my right mind to pick it up. I loved how the mangaka used charaters from the actual past to make this manga into something great. The art really flowed well, and the story made me want spend all my time reading it.

The charater development was i little off, case it point, i still don't know the past of some of them, even Aje Tae (one of the most evil people i ever read in a manga), but i have to say also that this manga revolved around Munsu's adventures and past.

And lasr but not least the ending, kinda abrupt and you could actually predict it coming but great end, sad but great. I recommend that people who are looking for a good manga to read and be drawed into, start reading.

This is a pretty good manga, but nothing great. The tragic tone at the beginning really captured my interest, but it disappeared and the story became the typical good-vs-evil fight.

The main problem with this manga is that very few characters got any development. Most characters, including the main villain, have no history so it's impossible to understand or care about them.

The ending felt like it was rushed. Villains are thrown in with no introductions just so that the good guys have opponents to fight. The villains were defeated way too quickly and easily. And a ton of interesting questions (like what creature the main villain is) were left unanswered.

His art is something that i have to admit borders on being extraordinary. although theres always something lacking in the plots of the authors that he decides to draw for. It always leaves me not completely satisfied when im done reading. This effect probably stems in greater part because his mangas are usually dark and tragic. But I believe that it also stems from the fact that his conclusions are all pretty much done in a style that leaves little bits and pieces of untied strings leaving the audiences to piece together the missing parts (this is so with zombie hunter, legend of soma, island etc, as i came to believe. whether u think it so yourself is for you to decide.) . Hrmm anyways his mangas leave me hanging. i know many authors outside the works of mangas such in films, books etc also leaving things hanging like the ending of sopranos for instance and many people hate it (few appreciates it). My personal belief is that an author's job is to weave a story that people can immerse their conscience in and throughly enjoy the make believe. it is their duty to follow through with them to the very end making sure that their journey has been a memorable and an enjoyable experience for the majority. in this respect my thoughts on the mangaka he draws for makes me somewhat sad. Its a good read, give it a try and i recommend few of his other works as well which are all drawn beautifully.

and for those who have a problem with me giving it an 8, well in my book 8s a great score, in fact its only 2 off from perfection

No other way to put it. If you understood it, it was beautiful and mesmerizing from beginning, to the very last page of the very last chapter. Even the ending left you satisfied. The only thing I found sad throughout the whole manga is Sando. Especially her fate after the manga ends.

Otherwise, there's just too many brilliant little details that make this manga worth a 10/10. If you keep up with the story, it's definitly worth it.

As for people asking how it's comedy, come on xD no way you didn't laugh when Munsu ate those "poisonous mushrooms"... And then Sando did something which he doesn't remember, that made her blush ^^.

I really enjoyed this series from beginning to end. It's sort of episodic at first, but it doesn't take too long to get into the main plot. The story is really rather common good vs evil fare, but it's interesting and well paced. The action is good, the drama is touching and there's just enough comedy to keep it from feeling overly somber.

The flashback arc, "Deeply Rooted Tree", which spans multiple volumes took me out of it at first, but it was well done and greatly developed the characters. The main story actually did move forward at the same time so I've no complaints about it.

The art is absolutely top notch. Most of the characters were well crafted and many were developed well enough to feel a real connection with them. However, some got a lot more attention than others that were really only touched on and I'd have liked a bit more information about them for added depth.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable series. It gets bonus points for being a good length; it's long enough to develop and conclude itself nicely without ever feeling too dragged out. It also gets bonus points for having Sando in it. Just because. bigrazz

One of the most best manga i ever read that wasn't extremly long.Manga like berserk are really good but after couple hundred chapter you begin to lose interest. the character and story are well develop. From the begining to end i find this manga great. If your tired of a manga that use typical shonen formula try this manga it a lot less predictable and also alot more intresting

Easily one of my top 5 mangas of all time, and I've read many many mangas, of many genres. Still waiting for that epilogue to be translated though.

Plenty of action and some comedy. Although there was a flashback that consumes 4 volumes, it does not detract from the story or the action. Rather, it draws the reader more into the character backgrounds and history of Aji Tae.

Also, one cannot really compare to Claymore in terms of awesomeness due to tastes. SAO just has more likeable characters from the very beginning (except for maybe Ban ja) than Claymore.

The story is excellent as it is and there is enough character development to drive on the plot without sounding overdone. Also, one cannot go wrong with the action due its most excellent art style.

over all... it' a nice read... but...for some reason i thought it was a pretty boring manga :/ the story is pretty good and deep but the action, character development part are pretty weak, if you compare this with claymore or Berserk neither the story, character develp, and action is up to par. another thing i dont understand is.... why is this considered as a comedy? i didnt laugh at all... well... overall if you are looking for a manga that are strong on story and drama, this is a good read, but if you are looking for something that have action/fantasy or adventure, go read claymore and Berserk embarrassed

was great until 'deeply rooted tree' arc. flashbacks are nice and stuff but it's so friggin long that it started to annoy me in the middle of volume 13. i decided to look at the raws to see when the real deal starts again and i was like 'wtf'..

Spoiler (highlight to view)
i mean.. 4 volumes for a flashback. just put the crap at the beginning of the story

same reason i stopped reading tenjou tenge.

guess i will pick it up again when etc reaches the last volume to see the conclusion.
