Description
From Viz:
Risa Koizumi is the tallest girl in class, and the last thing she wants is the humiliation of standing next to Atsushi Otani, the shortest guy. Fate and the whole school have other ideas, and the two find themselves cast as the unwilling stars of a bizarre romantic comedy duo.
Lovely Complex Plus is actually volume 17 with the final chapter called Love Com Final. The first two chapters are about before Koizumi Risa and Otani Atsushi met each other. The third chapter is about their first encounter and a little bit of what happens to them after the ending of Lovely Complex.
*Contains a side story called Hoshi ni Natte mo Aishiteru (Even When I Become A Star, I'll Still Love You) in vol 12: Reina wakes up surprisingly in her boyfriend's room. But it seems that she passed away three days ago...
In 2004 Lovely Complex received the 49th Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo.
This is one of the best manga that I've ever read. The couple is different from your typical shoujo. They don't fall in love at first sight or in two-three days. Instead their relationship starts off awkward but still hilarious and I love that Risa and Otani's relationship develops and doesn't stay the same from beginning to end. Anyone who's looking for a feel good manga with lots of comedy, romance and a very different couple would enjoy this. It's one of the few manga over ten volumes that I haven't skipped through. Definitely a good read, not boring or lackluster at all.
Deffinetly good manga. But it somehow lacks the charm of kansai-ben(kansai dialect) the anime has. Ending feels empty. I wanted something more. Real ending happened several volumes before. And there was nothing to add. Classical peek into the future at least would be good. I think that LC deserves more than 7 i gave to it, but ending dissapointed me or rather left some kind of empty feeling that I don't like.
this one is really good! it has a really good humor and great plot. i love it because its not like any other shoujo manga, it shows you what love really is. I love the characters in the story, they're not like the ones who are in fairytales, they are not perfect and that's what i like the most. I highly recommend this to all who are tired of reading fairytale like stories, where everything is perfect, and wants to read something more realistic when it comes to love. ^_^
I'm a normally guy who typically like shounen, I gave a try and find some famous shoujo to read but I got bored quickly. This is the only shoujo I finished reading I and really enjoyed it. A very unique romance, comedy. The girl is pretty stupid but not frustrating, the boy is not cool but manly. Of course, it's totally realistic but somehow there is not so many manga like this, especially a shoujo without a super cool guy. Well, it's not a masterpiece but u probably like it.
After searching for an addictive love comedy manga, at last I found my prize, this manga will keep u reading till u dig it all, great comedy, excellent plot, haven't seen in other manga a dismatching couple like this one and still pull it to keep together.
Also the maangaka takes time to tell the story of the side couples, and see them bloom.
Liked a lot the evolution of the relationship with their fights (laugh hard) and how the hate becomes lovelove.
For last I didnt put it a 10 because the mangaka couldn't keep up the excellent addicting story till the end but still makes it a great manga to read.
If u wana laught hard, experience the thinkings of a tomboy girl that becomes a girly girly full off lovely love, insecurities worries, jealousy, crying etc...... this is ur manga to read
I really loved Lovely Complex. There was never a single moment in it that I didn't like. It's a really great manga, with adorable characters, great art, laugh out loud comedy and, overall, a really touching story about not giving up that just sticks with you. It's not corny like others with that message, and you feel like the feelings of the Manganka really stick with you at the end. Though it took awhile for the romance to really get started, it was beautiful. I love this manga; can't really believe it's finished... Anyway, read it.
My friend told me about this manga. And I must admit Ive fallen in love at the first sight. Its realistic - we must fight to get something important - it cant be given just because you want it. Risa and Otani are... lovely Love LoveCom!
I accidentally found this series in its anime form which is quite good. I was bored at that time and like i tried myself to shoujo's and love stories. Anyway the anime astound me on its plot and the way the mangaka shows that there's a 360 degrees revolve of a shojou series. I live Risa and her insecurities about her height and otani who despite his height manage to work his way to the basketball team through hard work. Lastly how these 2 develop to each other. A well balance, well thought and well plot manga and anime.
LC ROCKS \ o /
PS: im a guy and like the other guys posted here it really says alot
I found myself liking this manga a lot, and I'm usually very picky with mangas. When I first saw this, I thought it would be another shoujo manga with a third wheel, a clumsy girl and a cool guy, with the additional unique feature that it had a tall girl and a short boy. I thought that their differences in height would be the main focus which would eventually get boring, but i was very much wrong! It's such a light manga without the annoying drama that I love it! It's become my favourite manga because I hate overcomplicated plots. Also, Otani is the kind of guy that is sweet but doesn't like to show it, which is my favourite kind. Risa isn't naive and annoying, which is usually what many shoujo mangas portray. I'm really happy because of that. I'm just waiting for the whole thing to come out, then I'm thinking of reading it over again
