I pretty much read anything apart from mecha. Any good recommendations? By the way, don't say Evangelion, I tried it and didn't like it.
Oh, and if you have any good yuri or shoujo-ai with a boyish character such as Hotaru Imai (Gakuen Alice) or Akira Takano (School rumble), that would be great.
You probably haven't come across Let Dai then... It's a shounen-ai (not yaoi), if you're okay with that, but it's definitely in my top 10. The description doesn't really reflect the greatness of it.

Watashi shoujo manga dai kirai(I hate shoujo manga)
I've only read a handful of them and shun almost all because of the cliched story and art

If it's hentai, there's no helping it, but there are some pretty adorable relationship centered manga with kids in them, like Miman Renai and Chokotto Sister.

From Humza
Try these unconventional ones:
Don't Cry, Girl by YAMASHITA Tomoko (Comedy)
Short, episodic series about a high school girl, a stark realist, who is forced to cope with a happy-go-lucky nudist and his odd friend. Hilarious! I won't accept any complaints about overexcerted stomach muscles
Kieli by KABEI Yukako/ TESHIROGI Shiori (Fantasy)
Dark and unpredictable tale about of two unlikely travelling companions. Feels a bit like a short, action-packed road movie. Nice art.

Thanks! I'll try some of those.
I'll try it if it's excellent. It doesn't look too bad.
Oh, and I recommend Kyuugou's works if you want some non-cliché shounen-ai/yaoi (though mostly they're shounen-ai), such as Okujou no Bai-Bai .

It's a shame that people won't be more open minded about certain things, but I suppose stuff like Kodomo no Jikan would be pushing people's limits, despite being excellent.

Not all shoujo manga fit into the shoujo stereotype and these are a few that don't:
Basara (Action, Adventure, Fantasy)
Meteor Methuselah (Action, Adventure, Fantasy)
Tom Sawyer (Adventure, Drama)
And one that kinda does but is nonetheless good read:
Cat Street

Shoujo Ai and Yaoi
Shoujo ai mangas i really can't stand because of the overly dramatic story/romance and the of course art.

I don't know any Shoujo Ai, but as for Yaoi, it kinda depends on what you want. If you're looking for more light and fluffy stuff then read:
Nanairo Sekai (Second story is the shounen ai)
Dousaibou Seibetsu (Shounen ai)
Kanemouchi kun to Binbou kun (Shounen ai)
Konbini kun (Yaoi)
Udagawachou de mattete yo (Yaoi)
And for darker stuff, and they are much darker, especially the second one:
Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yume o Miru (Yaoi and has a dark sequel too)
Sakura-Gari (Yaoi and quite intense on the plot side that is not romance related at all)
As for myself, it's more that I dislike these genres rather than me hating since I am definitely open to trying the genre. The genres are ecchi and harem, especially when the manga is both ecchi and harem. For ecchi, I've only really read Medaka Box (which is definitely light on the ecchi) and there were things I definitely liked about it, the two main characters are great, but I got bored. As for harem, I've mostly read reverse harems and of those I only really liked Ouran High Host Club, and of the few harems I only liked Onikirisama which did end badly.

Try Chichi ga Loli na Mono de it's funny as hell.
About me, I don't like yaoi, yuri, smut, harem and sports mangas (especially BASEBALL ugh). About yaoi and smut I'm pretty close minded, so I won't try it even if you recommend something, but for the others I might try it. So feel free to recommend something xD

Shoujo, yaoi (you can't change my mind on this or hentai though, because I don't care for sex and I don't like men), hentai, shotacon, sports, ecchi. I don't exactly hate tragedy or drama but I don't really like them too much. I cry too easily. There's probably some more but I can't think of any right now.
