I don't read yaoi (well, not yet; I'm still trying to stop myself from becoming a total fujoshi; I don't know how much longer I'll last though), but some manga reading sites automatically give you previews when you go to a manga's main page, and I have noticed that sometimes the genitals are shown in those previews of yaoi manga.
So yes, I would consider that to be porn.

not all of it. it´s hard to explain, but there are a few which can be considered as porn (usually those w´hich show genitalia very much), there are those i read and don´t think of porn and there are those who have an actual story (like junjou romantica)

If hentai is considered porn, I don't see how two guys having a go at poking in the wrong hole isn't.

If sex is a focus, then yes. Seems pretty simple to me.

Without a doubt, yes.

It is. No matter how you disguise it, if there's explicit sex, it's porn.
Soft core, hard core. All porn.

I wanna nom nom nom at your sig, tactics. : D

@ShadowSakura
Junjou romantica is definitely porn.
Even if it has "a story", it always leads to sex.

Anything sexually explicit is technically pornography. That doesn't make it better or worse, that's just what it is.

If we're going to apply labels, we should apply semantically correct ones.

Just to finish off my point, the actual defintion of the word "pornography:" Noun: Printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity.

Some dictionaries offer a secondary clause with "intended to promote sexual arousal" or something along those lines as well, but this inclusion is far from uniform, so only the former portion appears to be the consensus.

😐 I never think yaoi is porn. I prefer yaoi with plot and nice artwork, just like other genres.

Welcome to the Genre page.
Here you can see how Baka-Updates - Manga defines each genre.

Hentai
Adult sexual content in an illustrated form where the FOCUS of the manga is placed on sexually graphic acts.

Yaoi
This work usually involves intimate relationships between men.

accordingly, yaoi may not be porn...not entirely. can't really tell since i never dare to peek inside the book.

I don't read yaoi
From my little experience trying to read them, oral, anal, a man rapes a boy, etc i can consider 'most' of them are porn.
Not all of them though... there are some good series (know it when people discuss yaoi)
but i never dare to touch yaoi again.

Technically, the Japanese fujyoshi use the term "yaoi" to exclusively doujinshi and explicit works. The term "BL" is used in professional publishing. I don't consider all of it to be pornography, but some is, but it largely depends on the artist's preference. I honestly think they are more like Harlequin books in sexual content. The term shonen-ai now refers exclusively to shotacon work. I think the BL that constantly feature sex acts and explicit dialogue are indeed porn. I still find it to be innacurate to label BL "gay porn", but you could possibly call gachi muchi BL "gay porn"

Junjou Romantica was serialized in Asuka Ciel, which is a shojo BL magazine, and is a sister magazine to Asuka, which is a regular shojo magazine by Kadokawa Shoten. So, I am not sure it counts as porn, but the seme in the couple is a "smutty BL author".

Other BL magazines for teenage girls are Shinshokan's Dear+, Be x Boy and BLink.

Adult Womens' BL magazines

  • Comic June (porn BL magazine) by June-Net
Be x Boy GOLD (adult womens' BL magazine w/ occasional porn) by Libre Publishing

I've noticed that the minimum "requirements" for a BL manga to be labelled yaoi is at least one explicit sex scene, or it's suggested that the couple is in a sexual relationship.

In general, I'd say that a typical yaoi has a sex scene, or at least a sexy scene (like masturbation or even just heavy french kissing) in each chapter. However, I have seen multiple yaoi that last several chapters or more, and only the last chapter contains sexual content.

My main experience with porn is hentai, and compared to that, yaoi is many levels milder. I'd say an average hentai has 4/5 pages of sexual content, while an average yaoi has 1/5. The main focus of hentai is sex, while the main focus of yaoi is romance. If you don't want to confirm the content yourself, just take a look at the covers. Hentai = erotic depiction of one or more girls. Yaoi = two close males.. Yaoi covers can get more intimate, but they rarely show anything explicit.

Yaoi is far closer to "mature romance" than "porn".
