Junjou Romantica: Takahashi Misaki is suddenly having some unexpected and odd problems. What started as a need for some college entrance exam tutoring has somehow led him to being romanced by a suave older man who also happens to be his big brotherís best friend. Confused by all of his brand new emotions, Misaki struggles to deal with his suddenly very odd life. And if that wasnít enough, his suitor, Usami Akihiko, has plenty of issues of his own. A man-child who decorates his room in giant teddy bears and toys, Usami is a famous novelist who also writes steamy boysí love novels on the side. When Misaki cracks open one of these books and reads sentences like ďUsami licks every inch of Misakiís hot bodyĒÖwell, letís just say that all hell breaks loose. Plus it dosent help with Usami claiming hes in love with him.

Junjou Egoist: Kamijou Hiroki is a broken man, consumed by unrequited love for his childhood friend, Usami Akihiko (the writer from Junjou Romantica). Along comes Kusama Nowaki, whose name "Nowaki" means "typhoon", an orphan working his way through life since middle school. Like the typhoon he is named for, he whirls into Hiroki's life and heart, blowing all resistance away before him.

Junjou Terrorist: As fate would have it, Miyagi Yoh (whom Hiroki is working with as assistant professor) and Takatsuki Shinobu, a high school student, cross paths. Bits of pieces start to link together from the first two stories. That aside, Miyagi, who has a sad hidden past in himself involving a relationship with his teacher, is faced with Shinobu, who just says whatever is on his mind. The wheel of destiny is beginning to turn once again...

The crazy thing for me is I never really watched/read Yaoi but as a general anime/manga fan, I have seen aspects of Yuri, Yaoi, and so on floating around the web so it was not news to me. And I am familiar with with various types of romance/smut too. But now, even though I have heard of Junjou Romantica when it came out in 2008, I never really started reading till this year n-n; Usagi x Misaki is my fave pairing. I guess even though Misaki's acceptance of the relationship is kinda drawn out long, I like that because it shows some realism. Every person has their own way of developing understanding of them selves and their involvement with a partner. I like that while Usagi is kinda forceful, he accepts Misaki for every little step he takes and who he is. And I like how Usagi has what it takes to read between Misaki's lines and in his own way, Misaki does the same. I guess I admire how this couple finds a way to work with each other even though its not perfect and not everything is communicated at first.

I attempted this several times back when only Junjou Romantica was published in volume 1. It was a real struggle to get past the first two chapters. I dropped and reread a few times.

I now only read for Junjou Egoist.

For some reason I prefer the art in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi better?

Usagi is so perfect. I like his smile (Glad that sensei is drawing him smiling more). I can feel that love is warming his heart and he couldn't smile if it wasn't Misaki.
But like the title, i need more Hiro-san. For some reason, i think Hiroki is one of the sexiest uke i've ever seen in Yaoi (i have a long list for that). Nowaki and Hiroki, the way their love developes, the way they solve their problems,... are making my heart warm. smile

To summarize: I watched the anime first and it was my first yaoi (I had no idea what yaoi even was...until someone pushed someone else down 0.0). Following that, I started reading the manga.

I also have JR to thank for my now yaoi obsession.

Oh, and, just quickly: I ONLY read Junjou Romantica. I skip the other stories and I don't personally like them.

In the beginning I didn't like the art, at all. I also found the drama drawn out and repetitive: Misaki takes chapters to realise he loves Usagi. Usagi gets jealous over everyone and everything. Misaki tries to be the peace keeper between everyone. Misaki denies everything. Sex in nearly every chapter. People-wedges between Usagi and Misaki over and over again. Miskai turns every gay man straight and everyone wants a piece of Misaki...

But even so, I am still reading this and still rate it super high. Why? god knows. In the end, it's entertaining and it still has a great romance hidden in their....somewhere.

When I first read this I thought it was alright. Not as good as it was cracked up to be, but readable, like a 7/10... But now, its just gone on for way too long, it just needs to be over already... Not only is the main plot simple and predictable but its also a recurring cycle. It's basically the same plot over and over again... It's simply gone on for too long, unless the mangaka decides to change it up a bit, i suggest her to just end the story altogether, because this needs not to be dragged on any further...

Do I recommend this manga? For the first several volumes, go for it. For all 17 volumes, not at all. I do suggest checking out Hybrid Child, Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai novels, and even Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (which I think is also overrated but still enjoyable 9/10), all by this same mangaka.

Edit: Just going through her manga and thought, Junjou Mistake was pretty enjoyable too, so if you want to check that out, go for it. You'd probably like it smile

Im just gonna say it. I HATE IT. I cant even rate this on the scale from 1-10 since it doesnt even deserve 1.

The art is terrible, the plot is simple and too predictable too. The uke's personality is annoying and he's stupid, single-minded to the point where i cant stand it. I have no idea why this, or any of her works, is so popular. I can name tons of artist whose art and plot are much better and deserve this one's popularity, for example ZARIA Ranmaru, 3745HOUSE...

this, was my first yaoi manga and i loved it back then but now i can see many flaws of the manga. (and the mangaka)
1. Junjou Romantica
what's there realtionship? usagi is way too overprotective and misaki grow a fu*king goddamn backbone. usagi cannot, CANNOT control his emotions and issues. misaki complains too much. ugh, i just hate the both of them so much.
2.Junjou Egoist
Guh, freaking dopes. (i don't actually know what that word means) nowaki's is just too trusting and delusional. he hopes for things in the relationship that will never be met and i'm not sure if they even have a relationship cause they hardly ever see each other and when they do they just have sex or eat. hiroki is just goddamn bi**hy. he evil and crooked and i think that they should stop seeing each other.
3.Junjou Terrorist
This is just goddamn horrible! i can't even say how much i hate this freaking couple! Argh! The hatred i have for this manga shall never be felt or seen...

I just love Junjou Romantica and can't never get enough of it. The three couples have teached me how to love. Something that I really love from Junjou is the "romance", seriously the romantic scenes make my heart melt. And the drama, the funny moments omg. Everything is just so precious about Junjou.

And the art work has improved so much!!

Usagi-san is my favorite character, I just can't not love this man, eventhough he's really obssesive and possesive.

But yeah, all the yaoi fans HAVE TO read the manga and not only watch the anime.

I wish JR never comes to an end.

and Nakamura-sensei please make a new chapter of Junjou Terrorist T.T

It's funny how my favourite manga of all time is Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, obviously by the same mangaka, and yet my feelings for the two stories are completely different. I know that this came out a long while before SH, yet the difference in quality is unbelievable. It literally took me 3 attempts to get past the first chapter of this, as the art is just so unsightly.

Art aside, the characters are awful too. Especially the main couple. I love tsundere types, yet Misaki is beyond that. He is just irritating beyond belief. Now I know some people compare him to Onodera from SH, but I think there is a huge difference. For starters, Onodera actually has a reason to be hesitant when it comes to his relationship with Takano, and even though he does refuse Takano at times, they aren't even an offical couple (yet). While Misaki is just so indecisive for no damn reason. He can't even willingly hug Usami, even after they've been together for like 2 years or something. Seriously, wth? Why does he need to constantly blush and act like a total virgin, after all they've been through?

The other couples are okay, nothing outstanding. And has anyone else noticed that all 3 main couples seem to go through the exact same problems one after the other?

So I'm really not a fan of this. My favourite couple is Junjou Mistake, although that's mostly because it's linked much closer to Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, rather than with the Junjou Romantica universe.

This is an amazing serise, but they should have had a little bit more drama, not with Misaki, but in gerneral have Usagi-san get tired of him and Misaki sees that and gives in. I don't know, just something that wants to make you cry like you wanted to at the moment when Usagi-san did show he was sad. The part where Misaki was asked by his bro to move back in, and Usagi-san didn't really wanna stop him but when he tried to be romantic Misaki pushed him away and the sheet hit Usagi-sans face and he was really sad. I really wanted to punch Misaki for that. Misaki's actions don't bother me, but he should do something really romantic for him *coughs* for example *coughs again* Dress up as a very sexy bunny and let Usagi-san eat him. Yeah... then Usagi-san can write about it and Misaki gets mad and calls him a baka (: Misaki doesn't bother me much. Seems like all the bottom people are like that, it is cute <3
