If you've seen Moulin Rouge, or its source materials, La Traviata and The Lady of the Camellias, this plot and these characters should seem rather familiar: The endearingly naive penniless artist falls in love with the beautiful star actress and "entertainer" (prostitute) who doesn't believe in love. He does eventually turn her and the love becomes mutual (or in some adaptations it happens very quickly), but this relationship has sparked the envy of a very wealthy and/or influential man who becomes obsessed with the actress.
That's the setup I'm looking for, beyond that it doesn't have to follow the traditional storyline (actually I'd sort of prefer if it didn't have a tragic ending, but I find that unlikely).

Moulin Rouge <3 ahh but thats a tough request normal city might fit...sort off both guys are rich but the one she falls in love with has to go through alot of trouble to make it mutual(the girl keeps holding back and doesnt believe herself to be worthy of love) but the girl isnt a prostitute the other guy is genetically modified to be the ideal partner .at first he is portrayed as a selfish lonely character but as the story goes on he slowly falls in love with the girl its a great read you'll love it oh and about the tragedy tag..its not because of the ending the ending is bittersweet but you'll feel satisfied
btw i hope you dont mind the art..i didnt find it repulsive but it seems alot of people did
