The artwork really threw me off at first, but as the story progressed I got so glued to it that ended reading the whole thing in one (looong) sitting.

I've gotta say, that ending was a tearjerker.

So I started this series because someone I admire thought this was one of her favourites. She has similar manga tastes as mine, so I thought it'd be good. I read the synopsis, and I found it interesting so I held high expectations. BOY was I wrong.
It started off with empty backgrounds and just a feeling of desolation. I thought, well, it probably gets better, so I continued. The plot got really twisted and boring and I was literally forcing myself to read each page out of a desire for something better. And yet it never came. This was the first comic I've ever read that killed me inside with each panel and page and speech bubble.
Maybe you'll enjoy it, but I definitely did not.

Negative Point: Its a few volumes too long!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
In the end Mars looks old and dies n there's another Mars!
I mean seriously, what is Isha supposed to do with a mini Mars? Unfortunately that doesnt give me any hope for their future...

Wonderful

All I can say is that this series was so thorough and deep as far as character and personality go. Though I do admit there were times it got a little boring and confusing, and it was VERY long for a story but if you can get through all of it I'm sure you'll love it. It's hard to explain just how in depth this story was. The main theme I would say was simply chaos of the mind and the destructive emotions that all people possess. T'was a great concept of human nature. The ending was really good (though a bit sad). Romance was also good though it was a little slow and not that apparent until much later if that's what you're looking for.

Only annoying thing I would say is that some of the character's look really similar - in the beginning I got really confused between some of them because a lot of them have long hair. It get's easier to point them out later though.

And I really didn't think the art was bad. It was a little dated for sure (1993) but I still liked it fine.

If you can overlook the art, you will enjoy this series immensely.
Set in some distance future, a group of friends who dwelled on Mars, are chosen to live on Earth in Normal City. The group of friends consist of the loud and crass Sion Revy, boy-crazy Jean-Tania Campbell, the quiet and reserved, but emotionally intense Mars Heaven. They are chosen due to their special power: ESP, extra sensory perception. They live together with a new housemate named Isha Green, who, like them, is an ESPer, but different than them because he follows the rules set by the aministrator of this project. Isha, an aspiring singer, resembles the man in Mars’ dreams
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(literally, because Mars can go into people’s dream).
The three friends begin their new lives in a strange new city and even try to go to school like other teenagers. But what set them apart also endanger their lives, especially to Mars, who, underneath the calmness, is filled with passion and intensity.

Like most viewers have mentioned, the art is strange and old, some people might even say bad, but the plot and character development make up for the awkward art. The pacing of the storyline keeps me on my feet and is never boring. The first volumes introduce the characters and the premise of ESP, which gives them abilities such as teleportation, telekinetic, psychic connection, fighting and blowing things up with their minds, and the ability to dwell into people’s dreams. The later volumes focus on the plot and character development, as well as revealing the antagonist, who is a truly creepy man.

Mars Heaven is a great character, much like Clare from Claymore (I can’t help but notice the similarities in their personalities). Mars is strong but can be unstable, especially when she finds out who, or what, she is. Her power is so strong
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
that it eventually becomes her downfall, because she uses it to a point of self-destruction,
which also makes her a tragic character.

The supporting characters such as Mars’ best friends, Sion and Jean, are impressively developed. Their personalities are strong and their interactions with each other are believable. Isha is a bit of a bland character (compare to Venus), but who, along with Sion, acts as a comic relief (only every once in a while, since this manhwa is a far cry from comedy). The addition of Venus (great play on names, by the way: a feminine name for a boy, and Mars, a girl with a masculine name, the name of Greek god of war and the name of her former planet) is surprisingly enjoyable. While he admits some connections, and feelings, to Mars, he remains a spectator up until halfway of the series, then he becomes more involved with Mars. In a way, I was rooting for
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Venus and Mars, more than Isha and Mars.

The art of this manhwa might puts some people off from reading this series, but the storyline is, most assuredly, excellence. Overall, I would highly recommend this series to anyone who like some action, drama, tragedy, ESP and sci fi stuff, with unforgettable characters and storyline. This is one of the series I would happily reread again and again.

I really liked this. Even though its basic elements are nothing original, I don't think I've read anything like it.

The pacing is very slow, and I see some people found it boring, but I didn't. The only time that was a problem for me was at the beginning before things got moving. Once I started liking the characters, the slow pacing was a bonus.

The other thing - the art. It's very, very 90s. Again, that's not a bad thing, but it's hard to get used to and kind of unnerving.

The only thing that's unambiguously bad is the scanlation. It's nowhere near as bad as some other things done by the same group, but ... yeah. A little bit of editing and quality checking would go a long way. Fortunately, the English isn't too butchered - a bit stilted sometimes, but it's not unreadable. Given that it doesn't look like it'd be popular enough for another group to do it, I guess it's better than nothing.

All that writing and I haven't really said anything about the content. Let's see...
... nah - I dunno. It's a story about a lot of different things, and it treats those things maturely. There aren't any quick fixes for the characters - things happen and they stay happened, and they have an effect on society.

I'm mostly a seinenfag, and appreciate the unstable-girls-with-hyperpowers thing. Alongside that there's a lot of romance/bromance. It's not really an action series - there's plenty of violence, city destruction, and general carnage, but it approaches all that in the same quiet sort of way that everything else happens.

Anyway, I highly recommend it.

Art: 6 - well it's 1993 after all.
Story: 8,5 - though there are a lot of boring parts, yet plot twists keep you hooked up, psychology is ok, author captured well instability of teenagers. Scientific part didn't seem very conviencing, but was acceptable.

I think this manhwa is underrated... Recommended to those who love angst and tragedies with the faint light of hope ahead...
