I can't say I always hate harem. Hate is a way too strong word anyway. Some mangas and animes can be good even if they have harem or reverse harem but most are just... not my cup of tea. I don't see the appeal of all the stories about plain boy/girl suddenly having a dozen of gorgeous girls/boys falling in love with him/her. I don't even like triangles so why would I like other geometric figures?

I like harem as long as there's romance and it has a definitive ending where the protagonist clearly chooses one of the girls and there's no questions as to whether or not they end up together / stay together. I rage when I read a manga and it ends with the protagonist not choosing anyone and just maintaining the status-quo - it doesn't have any sort of resolution. It's like, what was the point of reading/watching this manga/anime when it ends pretty much the same way it began? For example, the Infinite Stratos anime (Houki FTW) or the first season of To Love-ru (haven't watched the new one yet).

Harems eh?
That takes me back. I used to read harems all the time when I first started reading manga.
Now? Not so much, taking a break from the repetitive sort of flow they have, but I don't mind them at all. I'd read another one if I came across it.
Well, I'm not biased about them, there are good ones and bad ones so I read them first and decide what to do afterwards.

I don't hate them, but I dislike them intensely. I rarely expect (or even appreciate) realism in my fiction, but 10 people falling for the same annoying, love-obsessed, indecisive guy / girl is where I seriously draw the line. I can barely even stand love triangles -- let alone full-blown harems.

Depends on the story, though it does sometimes annoy / creep me out when other typecasted harem characters beyond the many faces of Eve (i.e. virgin, wifey, mistress, geeky glasses girl, genki tomboy, debt-ridden goth girl, snobby hypergamous rich girl, hot widow, etc) include the token toddler / prepubescent girl, effeminate male, furry female / demoness, close blood-relation (i.e. mother, sister, half/twin/cest, etc) and even futanari in a failed attempt at being original.
Somewhat OT
Fwiw, I've always wondered how much of the popularity of Harem manga in Japan is motivated by a desire in boosting the population of Japan by getting Japanese men interested in women or if it is simply because Japanese men understand that the reality of dating / relationships sucks.

Personally, I don't really like harems all that much. I only read them for comedy purposes, and even then I get annoyed at an indecisive boy/girl who'll clearly end up with the first person (if there's an ending where the person chooses) that he/she saw despite introducing all these new love interests. If they don't have a good plot, or is interesting enough that it breaks away from regular harem manga a bit, I refuse to read them.
The only harem manga I can stand at this moment is TWGOK.

I've only read so many harems and honestly I don't think it bothers me much. I prefer reverse harems just because it seems easier to relate to. But yeah, it depends more on the actual plot than the harem.

Im forced to like Harem... because most comic shounen mangas are harem or end up with more than a girl liking tha guy. But if we look at the harem part i'd say love hina is the only one i enjoyed.
P.D. i wonder why no one ever labeled GTO as harem... more than 3 women were rooting for him as prey well... it wasnt a love comedy, so maybe thats the reason.

Even the more mature versions aren't at the top of my list, but I'd take a harem-comedy over a bad action series any day of the week. At least the harem won't take itself seriously, and I can accept that for what it is.

I'm sick of harem manga myself. This is because there are way too many of them. Take a look at a large portion of series released within the past few years. There are WAY too many that the whole plot is revolved around them. It's becoming too much of a selling point (they don't have much of a storyline or actual character development, etc...).
There are plenty of past series that were alright or great. Take To-Love Ru for example.
Rosario + Vampire is also an example of a past one.
They are actually done in good taste. The storyline doesn't so much as revolve around a harem theme, so much as they are tied to each other while both contribute to the series (or close to).
Too many harem releases seem more like the story barely works and was created JUST to give it some semblance of a story (in which case why even waste the time adding a story).
