You said you didn't mean a series about a psychic detective exactly, but similar to psych. I think it may be helpful if you described what you were looking for in more detail rather than mentioning a tv series which not everyone would know. For example, these things could describe psych. -Deceptive Protagonist (lying about identity) -Highly Observant Detective -Buddy Comedy -Highly referential to pop culture.. There's a lot more that fits in to describe Psych also.. I haven't read it in a while but it's full of mind games. Liar Game ~ this just might be the perfect thing you're looking for. It's mystery and mind games all around. No romance whatsoever. Then again Death Note had no romance technically... It's complicated. Goth ~ let's see: deceptive protagonist(s). Check. Highly observant detective. Check. The other two, not really.
