I have quite possibly made this post before >.> or a similar post. I'm looking for something like My Boyfriend.

I feel like shoujo romances fall into two main categories: smuty rapey smut smut, or super innocent blushing at the thought of holding hands. (I'm also reading Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet and I'm really frustrated with the shoujo trope of "we're dating but our relationship hasn't changed and god forbid we have a conversation about it so I'm going to be quiet and insecure all the time")

What I'm enjoying about My Boyfriend is that it includes none of those things, or it does but not tuned up to 11 and dragged out like a lot of similar stories. The characters talk about their feelings and their relationship, they hug and kiss each other in mutually consensual ways and its not a Big Deal. And so far it hasn't introduced 500 side characters to derail the plot away from the main characters (I don't mind side characters but sometimes it gets to the point where you can't even remember what the main plot was even about because you've gotten so far away from it).

Recommendations don't have to be shoujo but shoujo/josei is more my wheelhouse.
