If you live in the U.S, do you remember when the SciFi channel used to play anime? Well that's when I first got hooked. I'm not sure what the very first anime I watched was, but it included Vampire Hunter D and Akira.

I watched anime for as long as I can remember...
The earliest one I can remember clearly is Grendizer.
There was some others that I don't even remember their name...
I was so young back then that I didn't really care that it was anime or not, and if it was a show in a language I could understand or not either. I watched anything as long as it was animated.
But it was only a lot later that I learned of the differences between manga/anime, Disney's stuff and other random stuff.
Although the first anime I watched in subs and with the original voices was probably Love Hina.
First manga was Dragon Ball, a friend of mine had the entire collection in French and I borrowed them all one after the other until I finished it.

i saw the dragonball anime when i was like 5 and a zelda manga when i was maybe 10, then eventually got into love hina too for some reason

after that its all a blur that ate up a huge chunk of my free time
