It is a good gag manga, but it has absolutely no plot at all

Most of the time, I'd say that I don't want to read a manga because it's bad, but I actually enjoyed this one and I read all the chapters that were released. It puts me in a weird situation where I'm not sure how to judge it.
I would call this manga a "bait" that makes you keep reading by having the reader believe that something will happen in the current/next chapter to make the plot progress, but it never does. It abuses elements from romance mangas to create the exciting situations such as a confession, but it does that every single chapter in a way that ultimately leaves the reader jaded. Jaded because at some point, you realise that nothing will happen and it's always bait, but also because having them one after another with no real stakes or build up reduces importance of those scenes.
It does a good job at what it does, it's cute and entertaining, but it really lacks depth and personally I just wouldn't want to reread this or to keep reading the updates. I won't even read the last chapter once it's out, to find out what happens. I tried reading other works from the author, but I realised it's the same thing every time so I quickly stopped.
The lack of substance is very aggravating. Absolutely nothing of importance happens in this manga, and by that I don't just mean "it's a casual slice of life". Nothing is going on, the character do not do anything worthy of being named, it's really only showing some of their daily interactions with little to no context. The author also introduced a second couple in the series but I really wonder why, when it adds absolutely nothing. There is no initial premise aside from the relationship between the main characters (which, as said before, gets nowhere), we know almost nothing about the characters or what they are made of, and aside from this there is just no story.
I really find this disappointing, because wanting to make a long running romcom doesn't mean not having any substance. There is just no reason why the author can't develop the characters in any way, give them hobbies and have them practice it, or create a plot between characters. But no, nothing happens, every chapters is about them going home, on a trip, during class... without developing any further, focusing on the events around them, but only focusing on a "romance" that isn't actually there. In a way it's very similar to Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, but by comparing the two you can see that one has character development, a plot, a lot of depth and is one of the best romance mangas I've personally come across, while the other is very superficially sticking to the main premises of a tug of war. Perhaps the most disappointing part is that there isn't even any surprise about who would win the teasing game between the protagonists: it's always the girl. If you read the first chapters of Kaguya-sama, it also has an episodic approach with every chapter being focused on the tug of war game but you can really tell the difference, and ever since then the manga has really moved a long way into something much more complex. This one never did, neither did its sequels or the author's other works.
I should also mention that it creates a very strong disconnection between the reader and the fiction: every chapter is a heavily hinted confession of love, yet the protagonist remains just as oblivious as he was in the first chapter, after over one hundred chapters. The manga really stretches your suspension of disbelief, even knowing it's only a gag manga it's just hard to keep going.
It's professionally made, well drawn, the pacing is great, the interactions are great and it uses tropes effectively, but it's utterly lacking in substance. So I can't and won't say it's bad, but there wasn't anything to make me want to read this. Would I eat a delicious meal that constantly leaves me feeling hungry and doesn't give any feeling of fullness? No, I wouldn't.

I'm not sure how Takagi knows/guesses some of the things she does without having ESP/clairvoyance.
Also, Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru is vastly superior, despite sharing many of the same flaws as this series.

This is neither funny or heartwarming. Both MC are idiots, there's no plot (yeah yeah I know the excuse "bUt this is sLiCe Of LiFe. No. Use a better argument) just stupid teasing and repetitive and HOW the main character can fall for every prank? He's like super idiot. No sorry, I can't.

There's teasing and there is a level of annoyance.
If you love watching a helpless idiot/loser guy gets his pride crushed/played at repeatedly then this manga is good as it gets.

I personally love this manga. I find it adorable and cute and it's got this fluffy, innocent feeling to it. It focuses on the two main characters, and, while you see short appearances of other characters, the manga revolves around the two lead characters. I think what I enjoy about this manga is its simplicity. I like reading just one chapter and feeling satisfied from the short little look into these characters lives.
Reviewers are right when they say that this doesn't really have a plot. Each chapter follows the same structure: Nishikata comes up with a way to win against Takagi and she ends up turning the tables on him. I can understand how this might be boring to some people, but I find enough variation within the chapters that this isn't an issue for me. I don't expect romantic progress, so the little that does happen always surprises me and keeps me reading.

Dunno what's with the terrible reviews that basically goes off the reasoning's of "because there's no real plot to it and just random happenings everyday"... I mean it is SLICE OF LIFE... people should really check the genres before they read something... I thought it was absolutely adorable and a great read to pass time. The female lead is awesome, you rarely see a female lead who's more calm than the male lead in a romance, I love the change. I totally recommend this read to everyone who can enjoy a good slice of life.
