Short fun romcom for 3 volumes.

Rating: 6.0  / 10.0
**For this review I will be spoiling the First volume (out of 4)**

The manga is about a quiet weird boy who mostly has fun by staring into the distance. The other character is this snobby rich kid ohime type. Right she talks like Bow down before your queen peasants as I am your superior. Which is pretty hot but lets not go there. This is the romance comedy about these 2 characters. As well as there budding romance and the effect they have on each other.

The character development in this series is very good Both for the male lead and the female lead. They both retain there core personalities whilst simultaneously changing how they talk, how they act. I wouldn't exactly call it subtle but its more like extremely well paced. Over the course of 4 volumes this happens very very naturally. This is incredibly impressive tbh. And its not just them. The side characters as well grow and you can see that subtle change. In essence it does a good job of not shoving it in your face but at the same time being noticeable and natural.

I also quite enjoyed the romance in this series. This is in fact a dating romance series. The main couple get together by the end of the first volume. Despite this I thought the romance would actually progress more. There relationship does stay more like friends but still in a rather cute way. And there relationship is romantic in nature. There are series where it doesn't feel like the characters are more than friends despite confessing. I'm glad i didn't get this feeling that way.

The comedy is top notch. Jiiya the butler for The female lead is exceptional. He literally says he's doing it to fuck with her its amazing. Quite a few jokes were funny but as long as Jiiya was involved I could not stop laughing. Honestly I loved pretty much everything in regards to Jiiya. This guy was the funniest shit i've seen in a long time. Not just in manga but just in general.

Despite my praise I think the series still falls short which pretty much falls due to the last volume in the series. The last volume isn't good. It separates from the comedic romcomy style and goes more drama and story heavy into the plot. The serious nature of the series does not suit it at all and I was very much not enjoying pretty much the entire last volume. Yes the ending had merit but the damage was done.

I also quite liked the father in the series. He felt like a normal rich dad. I liked how the author inverted tropes here. Which is why the first 3 volumes were so fun. It was never really anything unique but the last volume killed it's chances to be something truly special.

In the end the series does a lot of good things but is actually missing some flair as well. Sometimes the art doesn't look as good and though it is a fun series, you aren't missing anything if you don't read it.

TLDR: Short fun romcom for 3 volumes. 6/10

Spoiler free review.

This manga is considered a 4-koma, but unlike most of those, it's not episodic. The manga flows quite well, and the romance is surprisingly good.

I'm usually a sucker for more adult romance manga and I absolutely despise unrealistic romances where the boy or girl act like women are aliens. I think it's the way Japanese people are, but for some reason, most romances have a main character that is a virgin and acts like women have cooties. Now, mentioning that, I loved this manga's romance. It's not the kind of romance I usually go for, but I read this entire manga in one sitting.

I highly recommend you give this manga a chance.

I full heartedly agree with every comment below me this is brilliant and not what youd expect from a 4-koma so give it a shot you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This is a very good manga, I honestly enjoyed every chapter and the characters are growing up at a good speed. This may be a 4-koma but it doesn't mean it has a bad plot at all, the story itself is interesting and the comedy is refreshing. If you havent given this manga a read you are missing out.

I generally consider 4-komas to be boring at best. But this one is actually very interesting, and with actual good romantic plot. And approach to portraying ojou-sama character is very original. Author just showed that even 4-koma can be good if author tries.

I am madly in love with this series, I mean it. I love the way it depicts their relationship in such a simple way, but still getting to the core to what they live and what they share, and just in their plain (yet unique) daily life. It's a perfect example of how character growth doesnt need much drama to be developed.
Beautiful.

Worth the Read

Honestly, I hate 4-koma. The only impression I've ever gathered from 4-koma is that it is a lazy story device used by mangaka to deny the reader character growth in favor of quick gags(some of which only make sense with a japanese background) and easier storytelling; however, that was until I read Ojojojo. In less just 14 7-10 page chapters Ojojojo has portrayed more character growth than I've seen in 30 chapters of manga such as GE or KiminoIruMachi. If you give this one a chance I think you'll really love it. Plain and simple.
