An absolute mess. Hard pass.

I don't even know where to begin. The premise of this story was promising, but it seems as though this mangaka was unable to write good characters with a well told story.

I will start by saying this though, save yourself the frustration and skip this entirely. I don't care what any other reviewer has said. This story has nothing to offer anyone.

If you want action, the action is chaotic and portrayed poorly. If you want humor, the humor is very sparse and not all that great. If you want shounen ai, this isn't actually it. I don't know who this was made for. Seems like it was just practice for the mangaka that should've stayed in the archives.

Almost nothing has been accomplished in 3 volumes. I don't care about a single thing that is happening, and the plot unfolds so clumsily it fails to properly convey what exactly IS happening. The story starts off teasing a serious plot with high stakes (people could die), and that is not at all what this is. Its honestly a joke how quickly that seriousness is kicked to the curb.

The characters don't get any time to develop and as a result seem so one note. Kaito loves to game, and obsesses over Nata's cuteness. (Which for some reason to me gives off a weird shotacon vibe)

We learn next to nothing about the other 3 characters (at least from what I gather) and they are not all that likeable. Just run of the mill characters that posses the personalities you'd expect. Silly boy, cool guy, calm and collected girl, loud and wild tsundere girl.

Im dropping this after finishing the first 3 volumes. I should have followed the advice of other reviewers but I was reeled in by the prospect of an action oriented, fantasy shounen ai. Once they went to the school and a kidnapping/rape subplot started about the pervy old teacher I completely lost hope.

The art is decent for the most part, everything else falls flat on its face.

I love this manga so much idk where to even begin. Its...perfect. Its everything i ever wanted in a manga. So yeah, SPOILERS!

I read it like two months ago and finally decided to write a review for it. Ok, it's not for everybody. I get that. But it was definitely for me. like i love video games, im gay and this manga is gay everyone is gay they're all dorks. i fucking loved it till the "ending".

I love all the characters. Kaito is a mess but hes like a great protagonist because hes so funny and stupid and when he wanted his armor to be more revealing oh goddd, I really loved Kawashima like even though she was the second girl she was her own protagonist like you get me they didn't make her just be Kaito's girlfriend or anything, which was really cool!! Rio was so cool and I felt so bad for her turning bad because of Kyouko and Ren was probably the character that most made me laugh lol what an asshole and NATA is so cutee aaahh who wouldnt fall in love with him

It made me laugh till I cried, it really did. like it was so dramatic and funny and every time they broke a wall i hate kaito its hilarious it has the funniest moments i swear to god. Also the art is really good in its 90's sort of way lol i just love it too much...

now the greastest thing about it: Shounen ai AND shoujo ai TOGETHER!? IN A SHOUNEN MANGA?? thank god for Murakami Maki. I loved the fact that Rio was in love with Kyouko, even thought it was sad because she didn't return her feelings (wish I really wish she did it was so cute in the flashback)...and its obvious that Ren liked Kaito in his weird way. But seriously when Rio kissed Kyouko I almost dieddddddd no wonder she and Ren were always together cuz they're both gay as hell and harbor unrequited feelings for the two dumb protagonists.

the only iffy thing would be the shota, not from Nata since he was really cute, but from the grim reaper kid and the scene with the perverted teacher who liked Kyouko, ew

I really wished this manga would have been longer. It's obvious that Murakami had to end it abruptly for some reasons and she's probably never going to continue it since it hasn't updated since like 2003?? sad cuz I still really love this manga. It was funny, it was gay, it was everything I ever wanted. I need more manga like this.

Everything about Gamerz Heaven is odd. For your convenience, here's a list:

1. The characters at first appear to follow the typical RPG tropes but quickly begin to subvert them left and right.
2. The mood is half gag and half serious drama, which I loved but am sure most people will hate.
3. The plot is interesting (especially when you consider that this was written back when everyone and their grandmother weren't writing RPG-based series), but what should have been explained and built up carefully over the course of 2-3 volumes gets done in a couple of chapters.
4. There are straight, gay and lesbian characters in the main cast (Hints of BL in a male-oriented manga? What was the mangaka thinking? If it were nowadays this wouldn't even have lasted 4 volumes o_O)
5. It pokes fun at well-known gaming tropes one moment, then plays them straight the next.
6. There are several popular relationship types borrowed from practically every demographic, but all of them are unrequited crushes/one-sided obsessions: childhood friends; guardian-charge; master-pet; rich butch lesbian x oblivious meganekko; tsundere guy x clueless hero; good twin-evil twin, student x teacher, bottom-of-the-class jock x top-of-the-class ice queen, etc., etc.

I was disappointed by the rushed pacing and utterly inconclusive ending, because Gamerz Heaven had real potential: the world and its rules were original, the characters were interesting, and the comedy was genuinely funny (which is pretty rare for this type of manga). Still, I don't regret having read it; it was certainly a fun ride while it lasted, though definitely not most people's cup of tea (as evidenced by the fact that it was axed, I suppose)

It started out fine, but as I kept reading it got worse. So bad that I started skimming then I just stopped. I picked it up again only to skim through it. I just read the last chapter and my mind just goes what the f**k just happened? I will admit though that there were a few parts that made me laugh.

This manga is quite fun, lots of comedy in the start, but later on everything turns so wrong. Ren has something for kaito, kaito likes
kata and acts like a pedo, rio likes kawashima. The only person that actually acts hetro is kawashima... wierd.. plain wierd

At the beginning, this manga stays true to its shounen roots, but after a while it starts getting... more/too shounen-ai-y. It's an interesting plot though, and the characters are pretty typical, but I might suggest it more for girls than guys. Overall, it's pretty weird, but for some that might be a good kind of weird.

This manga started out great, but after vol 1, the story kinda get's too confusing, there's just too much happening at once, and you don't really get to know the charaters.
On the other hand, there's lots of hillarious moments, which still makes the story worth reading.
