This is one of the few novels I have dropped

This is one of the few novels I have dropped. The sense in this novel actually disappeared after a while. I do not know where the author was trying to go with the story but I think he did quite a bad job on combining the real life world with the Virtual reality one that he made. It was quite fun to read at the beginning but after a while you ask yourself, "What exactly has changed since chapter 1?"

...for the first 18 chapters. It went down FAST after that. 19th chapter killed all the believability in the game mechanics;

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
A cleric with a sword solo PK's three people out of a 10-man party, while on lower level no less, escapes and somehow manages to kill the rest with environment. This single instance killed the series for me.

He also suddenly starts getting all the luck in the game. Why work for your success when everything just falls on your lap, right? The level of ridiculousness outside game is also something I stopped being able to ignore. He's basically a 25 year superhuman.

I dropped the series at chapter 28. This is the first novel I've dropped, but I simply couldn't continue. I came to mangaupdates to check the comments, see if maybe it gets better later on. Doesn't seem so. If you're able to not take the series seriously (I'm too much of a gamer, I simply couldn't) you can probably find some amusement in how over the top things get. If you're looking for a better MMO-related novel to read though, I'd suggest Quan Zhi Gao Shou (The King's Avatar).

Feels a lot more like an author insert fanfiction, plot is interesting and the deveolpment of the game world is gripping enough to read to chapter 30 so far

Came back to say the writing quality sucks one more time

Chapter 100 update
Pretty gripping actually, its rather predictable but still interesting.
If you wany to like this work skip the real life parts, the combat reads like some chuuni fanfiction and its disgusting

Chapter 103 update
Its been noticable but the charter relationships both in real and vr are pretty crappily written, though its pretty standard considering the harem tag

Well @WuxMan said allready everything that bothered me.
It starts out pretty good and the real live issues aren't that bad but somehow after reading up to chapter 227 it got repetitive and boring.

Zhan long is a pretty good novel if you don't want to bother with too many description and annoying background.
The story is great, oriented more toward PvP than PvE which is a change compared to other Vrmmo novel.
Interesting MC with a big sense of pride.

Great start, slowly gets average and pervy.

Great start of this novel. It will really have you routing for the MC and everything is honeymoon phase. Then once you get to know each other the author decides its a good time to kick perviness up 5 levels. More and more descriptive about how the MC is looking at these girls bodies and thinking about doing xxx with these girls. He never actually gets any action, just becomes a teenage boy going through puberty all over again.
Turning stuff like a girl wearing a seatbelt into soft core p0rn. To make things worse....
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main girl can read minds, which came out of nowhere. However the main question being on how if she could read minds, why was she such a bad judge of character at the start who never stopped any people with bad intentions and knew nothing the MC was hiding, even had conversations about this amazing player as the MC THOUGHT "thats me", but she still never caught on with her mind reading.....oh because....uhm....oh yeah.....about need to explain.....its just kinda.....because of reasons

If she could read minds it really leaves big plot holes in the initial story and reading it with that knowledge would make it seem like she was just actually a huge bitch

The author will frequently create new skills and new effects, which he will forget about and focus more on him just focus on more basic fighting styles, Eg. Reflect skill which made a huge appearance only to be forgotten about in 99% of fights.

Warning: also includes a pointless NTR s3x scene which adds 0 depth to the story and could have actually been skipped, having no real reason for being there.

This is a good read. You will enjoy it for the first 150 chapters no problem. However, things will become repetitive, unoriginal and read like a fantasy of a 24 year old virgins wet dream. My suggestion would be to skip all content in regards to the real world. If you do then the Novel will definately be about a 7.9 on the scale.

p.s This is my comment from reading 300 chapters into the story.

It's enjoyable and easy to digest wish fulfillment. A tad heavy on the Chinese culture, but there's enough tension to keep you interested. However, if you are looking for an engaging story, go else where. The only engaging thing about it is how often Xiao Yao (hero) engages in being awesome and pining over Wan Er (heroine).

Anyway, the main character obsesses over the main female character a lot. A LOT.

Heck, it's actually sort of funny how reliably his brain goes down the toilet and he starts gushing internally over her.
But like I said, the story is meh. It only exists to give the two of them chances to show off, so turn off your brain.

Asian VR-Game Novel

The plot and pacing appear to be steady, but it suffers from the same problem that all the other series in this category have. The Main character is a poor, average looking(read: handsome) guy who's lead an interesting poor life leading to many different skills which he excels at. Girls seem to throw themselves at him, which he tends to ignore, and he makes a major enemy that irrationally hates him.

Yep, another MMORPG novel :)

It is interesting especially for the fans of MMORPG novels out there. I like reading how the MC get level UPs, new equips, interesting quest and how he succeeds. I know that some people find exactly that elements annoying but it still works for me. Let`s say Legend of the Moonlight Sculptor, ARK - yea they are nice, but after 10-15 volumes I got tired of them. Zhan Long is still interesting for me and I hope it keep up for a while longer.
However............ any girl picking up the novel be aware: the MC is an asshole. He treat the women in the story objectively and decide on their worth based on their looks. Extremely annoying! Even that mindset that he is always right and that part: if someone do him even smallest wrong he must return the favor 10 times is something that I don`t like. So narrow-minded....
In short - I like the MMORPG parts. The game is interesting and I like the in-game growth of the character. But I hate his personality of the MC even thought I understand where at least part of his traits comes from (Chinese traits of rivalry and some teen angst... >>). I suspect that if a long real world arc starts I`ll grow verrrrrry tired and drop it but so far its good smile
Edit: Read up to 273 and it is really boring. I am tempted to drop it and probably will at least keep it on hold indefinitely.
