With a minimalistic, a bit freestyle drawing style, I didn't quite expect something so... Serious. But in a crazy way. it's surprising, or perhaps not, how many yaoi, when you strip down the smut and the fluff, are critiques of capitalism, of societal norms, of . This one isn't even particularly subtle about it, but head on tackles issues like poverty, debt, prostitution, capitalism. Whoa, so much to digest, and it's not a nice and easy ride. Both the uke and the seme are realistic but flawed people. They are not green flags, fluffy types. Many reviewers cry over the seme, but the heck, the guy is a pimp and brother owner, what did you expect? Read a solid slice of life if you want a nice, clean relationship between normal people. Their banter is so cute! And the uke wasn't a doormat, boring char, like many of them are. I liked him quite a bit. The seme was also deliciously yummy, although we know that he's far from a sterling personality and that he's one mean SOB at times.

There are no big cons here, albeit I would have liked to have seen more background stories and let the narrative take it's time to slowly develop. it goes a bit too fast, and some things are swept under the rug. Secretary Kim and Charlie also needed more screen time, as did Keum. Too bad they are not developed as they should be.

Overall, this is a yaoi with depth, and an interesting and good one at that!

Down and Dirty hits all of my favorite notes, and with phenomenal art. I love that the main characters aren't good people, but are still relatable and lovable and grow throughout the series. It's dark and perverted, and acknowledges that it's dark and perverted. The main character falls in love with a total villain, but he *knows* that's what's happening, and his emotions about spiraling towards rock bottom felt very believable to me. And despite all the darkness, it still manages to wrap up in a way that doesn't leave me feeling hollow. This is an instant favorite for me!

I just don't like even one character in this whole webtoon which is weird 😂

I hate main couple with every inch of my body, they are just horny but call it romance lol both are disgusting human being without any moral but author suddenly change them 360 degree second season to make them somehow romantic or a little likable but still both are toxic , unlikable and disgusting who use ppl for their own benefits, well they deserve each other tho.

I for one love toxic stories, however this one does not deliver the punch I was hoping for. Pretty sure Gyung is a sociopath, and you can't really "fix" them. There's very triggering rape scenes so I suppose normal people would have a hard time reading through this, especially near chapter 40.

The below person basically said it: the main couple is toxic and poisonous, the uke has suffered severe trauma, and the seme is the textbook definition of psychotic. Yet there’s wasn’t a single time when reading this that I felt bored or uninterested. That toxic couple I mentioned? I actually like them a great deal.

This isn’t your average fluffy kissy bl series no, this is the real (please forgive this god awful pun) down and dirty goods. Their love is far from normal. It’s this unhealthily obsessive type of love that completely blossomed from a one sided crush. The seme even goes from wanting the Ike to be his personal manwhore, to wanting to lock away the uke from the world. The man is not well, but towards the end he has an ALMOST completely change of character. I don’t have one shred of doubt that Gyung loves Hyungdo.

I also thing this series biggest shining point is Hyungdo. This man has been through so much trauma, abuse, r@p3, not to mention being whored out from guy to guy, but despite all that hell he endures, he never once cracked or lost his mind. His will was strong and he knew what he wanted and how to get it. Similar bl series rarely have a male character as strong as Hyungdo

This definitely isn’t a healthy relationship. Hyungdo is just starved for affection (which he admits) and knows that Gyung is using him, but he wants to believe in the possibility that he could fall in love. Gyung, as far as I can tell, is an abusive asshole who just uses people.

There are some rape scenes. The first time they have sex, it’s in a dark alleyway and Hyungdo says to stop, but he doesn’t. Another time, they have sex (consensual) in a hotel and he falls asleep after, and then Gyung rapes him while he’s asleep.

The art style is minimalistic in a good way. It’s a black and white webcomic. There is some shading and detail, but it has high contrast and defined edges, so it looks very clean.

So far (~20 ch in) there isn’t a super strong plot, and I’m mostly reading to find out what happens to the main character.
