This book isn't good as King's Avatar or Desolate Era, but it is alot better than Skyfire Avenue. I would like to rate this higher, but this book is let down by a few factors:
Inconsistent translation. Translation was very bad in the beginning, lots of syntax corrections needed, however it rapidly improved to a very decent quality. But, for some reason, by around c250 the translation quality again took a nose dive. It stayed this way until around c650+, before showing some improvement. But the level is still average or below average. You can clearly see how for example the battle scenes were nowhere near as dynamic as compared to say the King's Avatar (which had much better translations). There's many clunky expressions and wrong adjectives been used, Also a lot of annoying switching back and forth between British Imperial measurements and Metric measurements. As well as going back and forth between US english and UK/Australian english.
Average writing and plot. I feel like the author spends way too much time on tournaments and not enough on world building. Some tournaments I really enjoyed, like the life and death match in Qingyang Town, and the one at the culmination of the Hundred Empires War. But as tournaments kept piling up, I ended up suffering from tournament fatigue. The story could of used more plot twists like in DE, or just more descriptions on the protagonist exploring exotic new locales like in other novels. The ending had some good points, but was too rushed. There were some potentially emotional scenes in there, but I found myself distracted by the clunky translations and correcting the sentences rather than paying attention to the story.
I think this book is very similar to Stellar Transformation. Ok read but could be better if not for translations issues.
Based on my read on translated Chapters up to 500's something where I left off and up to google translated raw chapter to 700's
Repetitive: Yes (look at the other comment).
Romance: Low to the point you ask yourself if the MC is going be a "sage". It mainly female character showing interested while our MC is more stoic or uninterested in romance (maybe).
Love Making/Sex: I didn't know it have a scene until I read the "manga" on that part, I lack to understand (translated chapter) of the description until I read the manga of that scene. Expect that part there no further of such action taken by any known characters at where I'm at (raw chapter 700's something)
Female Interested in our MC: A few. Some are just interested because of vary of reasons and nothing more. While very few will developed a romance interested or close to it due to our MC action that are relate to that female in a good way.
Like I stated: "Anything Needed to be said is already being say by other comments"
There might be 2 possible ending based on the name of the title based on the raw from google translated stated. I'm not that far into the raw (using google translated) so I can not confirm but it highly possible. Based on the title of those two maybe ending; our MC either chose "Girls A" or "Girl B". I can not confirm so i can be wrong. I am current at around chapter 700's something in the raw using google translated.
This is one of the 1st web chinese novel along with Battle through Heaven.I have read all of works of this novel's author and i think the main problem is that the author try too hard to drag the story which make it kind of repetitive. It is the problem of most chinese Weak-to-strong battle-focused web novel since they kind of make too many genius, super genius,... to make more villain since they cant fit in strategic and economic battle. If the author limited it to about 500 chapter, the story would be much better.Well this is only my personal opinion and it was a good read.
what is this story about...
there is a bad guy who is stronger than mc.
mc trains and defeats him. all people are awed.
😀
Repeat the process for rest of the chatpters 😔
I wish I could say that the novel is good. I had such high hopes for this novel but sadly...
This novel suffers from the same problem as that of author's other popular novel (Battle through the Heavens).
MC's luck is just too good. I know novels of such categories have main characters bathing in luck but in this series (and BTTH) the MC is literally diving in ocean full of luck. MC would find heaven defying opportunities even in the worst situation.
Fight scenes are hyped for nothing. Epic names for fighting techniques but zero substance. No creativity.
Author would repeatedly say that MC's luck was good for once but he shouldn't be cocky as that was once a lifetime opportunity... Well, I have read around 300 chapters and the stupid luck is raining on MC regularly.
Also, there is no personality in MC. The spirit in his OP treasure is much more interesting than the MC. Honestly MC is totally boring.
There is also a scene similar to rape in the series. (MC is kind of drugged/controlled). Author uses that to establish a relationship between MC and the girl. To be honest that forced sex wasn't necessary. Chinese authors use such dumb ideas when they fail to think of ways to establish relationship between MC and a potential love interest.
The antagonists aren't interesting as well. They are the standard stupid villains who underestimate MC and when MC kicks their ass they would use the usual line: "How dare you harm me after I tried to kill you?! My clan/sect will kill you." Seriously? Most of the antagonists are like this.
Then there is the antagonist MC wants to defeat in order to gain revenge for his father. I thought he would be interesting and different from the other stupid antagonists of the series. So far he's same as the rest.
Characterization of main antagonist matters the most as he is MC's main goal so far. Would you give a damn for 300+ chapters if you realize that MC is doing everything he has done so far to defeat another stupid guy?!
I got to about 270 chapters, and really rather enjoyed it in the beginning, but it's just starting to get old. Like other people have said, it's nothing new, and the MC is a young, arrogant, wiseass who occasionally grates on me. I suppose I'm also getting rather tired of the whole LAW OF THE JUNGLES xianxia world-building trope, since it's basically predicated around how unlikeable one can be while retaining the reader's sympathy.
Yes, this novel has your typical Xianxia tropes. Maybe I am a sucker for some of the gets bullied and called trash, then gets strong and get revenge tropes. Therefore, I think this novel is above average. I would rather read this novel than ISSTH, ten times out of ten. I can not wait until the MC becomes strong enough to fight against the douche (you will see later why) that hurt his father.
This story might be a mix of BTTH and MGA but I like it better than those two series I mentioned. I just hope Lin Dong doesn't turn into a chu feng later. I would like it more if he were more the MC of BTTH. Not necessarily a psychopath and slaughterer. I had a great time read it from chapter one to 96, I'm waiting for more.
Read up to ch 49.
Average describes it best. Many similarities to Stellar Transformation but like a weaker version of it. If its your first wuxia then you probably rate it 10/10 but if you read a couple of the others then its between 3-5/10 at best.
This novel is similar to most of the wuxia: a weak guy due to a crazy amount of luck, gets his hands on a heavenly treasure which makes him gain cheat-like abilities.
I've only read 45 chapters until now, but despite this novel being average, I like it.
I actually like it more than Doupo Cangqiong especially because it doesn't show any signs of being a harem.
I grew tired of reading harems, it feels like that type of novels are only written for hormonal teenagers.
I'm not saying some fun service and innuendo are bad from time to time, but when everything revolves around how cool is the MC and how 10 girls throw themselves at him I find it not worth reading.
Well this novel is not like that. Also do not come with expectations of reading a new Coiling Dragon-like novel in terms of quality and you'll most likely enjoy it.
The novel had just started getting translated, there still are over 1200 chapters left. So we still have yet to see where the plot is heading to. We still don't even have a complete description of the world.
Hopefully we'll eventually get to see some development between the MC and his significant other...just training, battle and training again will become boring if it keeps that way for the entirety of the novel.
The translators are good, the guys from YellowLaw Translations are quite dedicated. You won't see crappy grammar and phrases that don't make sense. They are also nice enough to post some pics from the manhua from time to time making the reading more interesting.
Bottom line, it is worth giving it a try
EDIT chapter 228
I think is is going to become a harem. Fucking shit. Just now he was infatuated with a girl, the next few chapters he goes kissing a shitty slut. Fucking son of a bitch of an author.
I don't know if you understand why am I so pissed off, but think about it: after finally finding out a seemingly good novel, with NO fucking harem and a likable MC, you read over 2 fucking hundred chapters only to eventually find out that the horny weeb who wrote the novel has decided to shit all over your high expectations by introducing a damned whore as the MC's second love interest.
