One can fault Ryuuguuden for several things, but certainly not for its originality. . It was a different and intriguing read. Overall I felt I could ignore the glitches in light of how awesome the story is.
Considering the manga's summary and its intended demographic I might not need to say this, however, I feel it should be mentioned. Unless you're comfortable with a few graphic images, mentions of rape, reptilian creatures etc don't touch this manga with a 10 foot pole.

It's not terrible, and it's not some breakthrough masterpiece. It's just a result of someone's fantasy.

Those that have an active imagination and create their own fantasy worlds will understand what I mean. And it's not entirely stupid, as he tries to add some logic into it.
I personally did not prefer the direction he went to, but maybe you will.

Reading this is like reading a daydream.

my face is like the emoticon above after i finish this story. damn, it's a good ride though, you need to be able to let go some of your own reservation and preconception, and also able to accept unhappy ending because yes, this is a supremely unhappy ending story. good art, good characters, simple to understand and a very sweet love story.

I really enjoyed the beginning. The story showed a great deal of originality (despite being based on a folk tale). I even enjoyed the tongue-and-cheek humor and the simple drawing style.. The problem I had was that it went from whimsical/magical to scientific. The addition of science seemed to make the story fall apart. It went from very intriguing to just "blah!" It just didn't fit well together. The science and time travel made the whole story seem to be a spoof: "Rabbitman of justice!" The author should have stuck with either the comical or the absurb adventure genre. Spoiler: I'm sorry but fish people don't appear after 300 years and they can't breed with humans either. If there was a better explanation for the appearance of these creature the story could have been awesome.

i gave this an 8, but i didn't like it. the story arc seemed tight for as fast as i spieled through it. the art was whimsical, and i probably read this because the drawing style reminded me of matsumoto taiyo. blood, sex and sci-fi - well, it was not uninteresting or unimportant for the author's intent. what dug at me was that somewhere in here was the soul of that guy who drew penises into disney-man's happy2death "little mermaid". so. definitely read this if you like imaginative stories with phallic images, xD.

I love it! I dunno why it have some bad comments... I assume it's like the comment below have written people without a open mind probably won't like it. All the people have their tastes but I don't think this manga deserves anything below 5
The story has a really interesting mistery alnd litlle by litlle we became adicted to the characters and the way the story goes one.

It's pretty much a madcap adventure involving various fishmen, certain historical aspects, a bit of science and 2 boys in bunny suits and what a fantastic ride it is! It's extremely experimental and might not be to everyone's tastes. But those who've got a really open mind and who hunger for an interesting work laced with an equally interesting artstyle would really enjoy this.

Warning: to fully enjoy this, you must throw away all expectations for a conventional storytelling experience. Otherwise, all aspects of this work might really disappoint.

Fantasy mixed with sci-fi and young love as well - it's a great short read. I feel rather sad about the ending, though...

A very entertaining read with a developed plot.
Imaginative, bizarre, exciting, involved and laced with black humour.

Bunnies, time machines, mutants, and light sabers, what's not to like about this manga? If you want something out of the ordinary then I highly recommend it, and at only three volumes it doesn't require much commitment.
