this manga is just what I needed

I tell you what (Hank Hill voice), this manga is a fine piece of literature. Here I was, looking for something to read, life sucking, and Goblin Slayer was just what I needed. Plot: It's just a guy, who's on a personal mission to kill some goblins. That's the plot. It sounds bland, right? You'd THINK that there would be no substance to it. But that's the magic of it. Somehow it's great, and every page is a joy to read. And ideologically it's perfect too. There's no fanservice trash, there's no weak male protagonist that blushes as the manga contrives to somehow end up with his face in some girl's crotch or shows some pantyshots or jabs at the male sex as usual, there's no misguided male fantasies or disgusting female fantasies, or even real power trips, because there's no enemy worthy of sympathizing with, the goblins are nothing to feel remorse over, it's just, kill those degenerate goblins, wouldn't it be nice to kill them all, just kill some goblins, every day is goblins. Another day, another few goblins exterminated. Have you killed some goblins today? Let's go kill some goblins. AND YET, despite how bland that sounds, it somehow works.

Can you imagine how politically incorrect this would be if there actually were goblins though? Even if they were exactly as they are in the manga, even if they were every bit as mindless and evil, the SJWs would be outcrying, wearing "goblin lives matter" shirts, saying we need to kill the white males and replace the demographic with goblins instead because goblinsaresogreeeeaaaattttttt. Now you can read your other mangas, deluding yourself, somehow this is #2 in popularity and only outdone by that awful tate no yuusha no nariagari, if you want to read some boring thing that drags on forever written by some fake redpilled wahman that is trying to create a believable male perspective instead of being in the kitchen and making a man a sandwich, you can waste your time with that, or you can read goblin slayer instead. Let's work together and get this to #1 where it belongs. Tseries may have defeated pewdiepie, but together we can make goblin slayer #1, come on people, it's a feasible goal, we can do it!

Subpar Script Carried by Talented Artist

Have potential to be a decent fantasy pulp. But the (original) author decided to make the troll rape spread page in Berserk as its base and only base premise of the story. Whenever the stakes needs to be raised the author relies on the looming threat of rape again and again. Yes, there are quite a lot of rape being done by apostles and demons alike in Berserk, but those are NOT the only atrocious things they have done. It's getting tiring after a while just like Goblin Slayer's face not being shown for whatever reason.

If only the story isn't tryhard so much on its 'dark' fantasy premise, used DnD comedic hijinks combined with black humor this could be a very entertaining fantasy pulp.

Worthless manga that is only good for newbies to the dark stuff
by Seregosa

Rating: 4.0 / 10.0
As someone who has been exposed to many dark novels and manga over the years, this is just at the elementary level. It's very boring.

The thing is, this manga isn't actually that good. It's, at best, average. It's readable, but nothing more than that. The thing that attracts people and makes them give it such a high rating is the shock value and novelty value for people that aren't used to this kind of stuff already. The story itself is pretty much garbage, it's both hollow and shallow. The characters aren't interesting and his personality, monologues and pretty much everything around him is edgy and overdone, it feels forced and cringeworthy to say the least.

Some people call this "realism" and feels that it's "tangible" in some way. It's really not, it's just them being deceived by the shock value from seeing something they're not used to see. Like the first isekai you read, the first absurd comedy, the first adventure, the first of whatever. It makes you feel overcome with amazement and you ignore all flaws as your glasses fogs up from the novelty.

It's just about an obsessed guy who hunts goblins because of a past trauma and is brutal about it, about characters around him who pretend to be mature with "heavy" dialogues and about females being raped everywhere while the men is killed. No big deal. If you can get over that crap and look at the story and characters themselves and scrutinize them, you will notice that it's just a silly manga/novel with nothing to offer.

Dropped it after 20 chapters. It started to feel boring after the first few chapters and it got increasingly more cringeworthy and boring. As if rape and violence is enough to deserve anything above an average score, it's just a tryhard manga/novel that tries to be as dark and serious as possible but comes across as silly. At most it can be a nice change of pace for people used to normal isekai stories.

Just that, I can't believe how I get though 15 chapters of this. You may think, agrue It's is "realistic" or what ever bullshit for I care. If you can abuse women to that extent even in your manga then you're sick. And people who enjoy it is sicked as well. I can't believe how this bull of crap get published. Save for MC ( why I keep endure for 15 chapters ), all is trash.

Goblin Slayer is a perfect example of late 80s/early 90s edge-lord bullshit schlock that released 2 decades too late. Let´s take away the misogyny, the harem crap, the inept "comedy", the mediocre art or even the amateurish character designs for a second. What is left is fantasy without imagination, as any world building is summarized by throwing around videogame or D&D terms! The dice of fate control everyone's destiny and even the core cast is only called by their classes. A school kid could have written a better plot... The novel barely features any coherent sentences either, due to it being a quickly released light novel. So have fun with the endlessly repetitive conversations, the pulp novel cut-and-paste plot points, the non-characters, the zero-dimensional villains who rape for the sake of rape and all the other rubbish.

Another problem are the ongoing franchise spin-offs, aside from the no-budget anime. At least 3 of them at the same time and all identical to the LN/manga! Worst of all is the origin LN/manga for the titular protagonist. His backstory fits on a postage stamp -seeing his sister raped to death by goblins made him too angry to die, the end- yet the core LN/manga can´t even bother to tell it. Meaning that you need to get that spin-off to follow along. This is a violation of storytelling 101! The Guts wannabe protagonist, who ends up being Kirito in armor instead, the tasteless rape and the gore porn opening to the franchise are the reason why I immediately disliked it. The endless circlejerk that followed is the reason why I now laugh at the "franchise". The end result isn´t quite the worst its year had to offer but easily the most pathetic.

It's amazing, and because of that, I can't read this

I dropped this after three chapters. Why? Because the way the author portrayed the behavior of these monsters and the story events felt too tangible. I'm still trying to wipe my mind of the contents of chapter 1. One can almost argue the author is evil in making readers sympathize with all the side characters, so that every thing that happens to them transmit a scarier image.

I've read manga with a moderate amount of gore, torture, etc., but there is just something about this one that makes me unable to stomach such sadness. I don't think I can ever look at goblins in games the same way again. It's brilliant, but alas, for my peace of mind, I can't continue this.

Simply Superb

I must admit it, this one is a special one. I won’t mince words in reviewing this series, honoring what the MC usually do: brief, concise, yet meaningful.

The story takes place in a fantasy world setting and the world building so far is very simple (typical sword and magic setting). Yet, the execution is amazingly detailed. This one really doesn’t hold back when it comes to fighting, strategy, and nuances of each scenes (the art is very supportive in that area). I myself never imagine that story about “grinding” can be that engaging and awesome, in which The Gamer failed miserably in this area.

In any case, I recommend this series as a great read. Hopefully, the author can slowly connect all story into one major arc of conflict.

Great Mc

Great MC, Like Mahos said before, zero fuck given to anything but slaying goblins. That makes him hasty, direct, centered and sometimes reckless; yet he is not aloof nor uncaring. I wouldn't think such a simple premise would make this character so complex. I am so grateful he is not your regular manga wussy!.
The story itself is very simple, you as a reader just have to accompany the MC when he slays goblins, yet it seems to be getting more complicated, i look forward to more releases.

Comparing to the LN...

It's faithful to the novel. This medium is also more concise so it definitely feels like you're wasting less time consuming the material to get the same enjoyment. None of the important details are left out it (so far). Would recommend this medium if you don't mind the violence described in the LN to be a little bit toned-down compared to the artwork being shown in the manga. Mostly to do with the descriptions of guts falling out of people.

For how good this story is and who to recommend this to? The other reviews cover this well.

Always Love me some Dark Fantasys lol

So far this is pretty great. I really like RPGs and i really like more blood and gore and brutal stuff and this is a fit for both. Fantasy RPGs are usually decent to good but they become even better when you add more of a realism and darker feel to them in my opinion. Thats why i like Beserk, Remoster, Gate (manga) and others that do it more darker. So yea if you cant handle seeing darker stuff like Blood, gore, rape and other stuff then this is probably not for you.
Anyway getting more in terms of this its a pretty simple premise with a MC who wants vengeance against all goblins and just interacts and with all these messed up beings and kills them. Well it starts off like that and it seems like it will progressively get better to me. Art is good, stories interesting and always nice to have a badass MC. Definitely reading this one.
