Great slice-of-life, heartwarming series, short but sweet

This is quite a unique series, of course there are several series out there that have similar characteristics, such as having a furry friend and a heartwarming plot. One such series I'm reading is My housemate is a cat.

What makes this series special for me is:
1. The art is pretty good, there are some panels that feature drawing worthy of being called art by themselves. For example Nagi's eyes. The marketplace. The spider itself (Asa).
2. The progression is slow and steady, it doesn't feel rushed, even though to be honest the plotline is pretty thin, and what the author does to make the series long is input cooking lessons. Well, it's not exactly out of place, just there is a main plot to live with the spider. By the way, one let-down is the casting in the post-apocalyptic world. It certainly does not feel like one, given it was only mentioned a few times and all supplies seem abundant except meat.
3.The characters are lovely, especially Nagi and Asa. Their interations between each other and others are quite organic, however, there is a lack of personal character development.

Overall, I feel that while this is a very good series, some premises of the background storyline was not explored fully enough (what happened to the world, what are the difficulties of the post-apocalytic world, Nagi's father, Asa's real species or family or history and so on).
