Nina, a wyndian princess, and her guardian Cray are searching everywhere for Nina's missing elder sister, Elina. While traveling to her last known whereabouts they suffer an accident. On her way to a nearby town, Nina meets Ryu, a seemingly amnesiac young man. This meeting triggers a series of events that will involve them with the godly race known as The Endless, immortal dragons with the power to shape the world itself.

Closely follows the storyline of the original game.

This has been on my list to read for a couple years now and I've only just gotten around to reading it. Well, for one, I mildly disagree with that shoujo tag, in my opinion it's equally directed at both sexes of that age group. For another, I really, really loved it. The story was woven wonderfully without too much or too little of an element (which can really ruin a good series, when they focus too much on love or blood at the expense of everything else) and the characters were enjoyable (even the antagonists).

I do like that it followed the game this closely because it's one of my favourites. I second the person below me in saying that anyone who's loved the game will love the manga and for anyone who's never played it's still fully comprehensible and enjoyable.

I recommend it. smile

NOTE: srry but my englisch grammatik is awful bad [im not from here]

i read the first chapters and was surprised in a good way.
i felt like i was playing the Playstation game Again [Breath of Fire 4 for playstation1 or psx emu]

the same characters, the same settings....wonderful. everyone who played the game will love the manga, everyone who doesn't

"PLAY THE GAME" a true rpg gem, with lots of heart and story [you play as the good guy and switch between him and the story of the bad guy permamently] one of the strongest features of breath of fire 4 is clearly the cast. the amnesia dragon boy, the brave winged princess, the trusty beastmen and a character i will never forget "ershin"
Spoiler (highlight to view)
ershin is an empty armor with a spirit inside, ershin is a funny beeing and has some mysterys, later its revealed that the spirit in ershins armor once was a powerfull female god....

You play as ryu and lou-fu [the counterpart, both of them visit the same places but with different outcome, cause the one is good the other is wicked] ps: the ending of the game was awesome
Spoiler (highlight to view)
you can side with your party and defeat luo-fu, or you and lou-fu make a fusion and complete the seperate two souls of the dragon emporer and wipe out your old party/friends

i write to much... short said, the manga is 100% true to the roots, and if you cant play the game at least give it a shot with the manga,
it's a rpg adventure with a good cast and more than once ppl have to make a choice.

i wait for the next chapters *_*
