It's not afraid of evolving past the premise.

Really like this one. The manga does not feel the need to return to the "status quo" at the end of each chapter just to keep the starting premise and high jinks going for a billion chapters. Instead, the 19 chapters are excellently paced, at least so far as the main two and their interactions go.

The world and setting is tailor-made for the premise, and even if too specific or unrealistic it doesn't really bother me because it's how the world has been introduced from the get-go, allowing for extreme circumstances to really affect the characters in their world.

One part of this I enjoyed is that while bits and bobs of each culture are shown and depicted, like the workings of each of the mains' families, it's never a focus and that leaves the world to feel larger beyond just what we see of the main characters. This does leave a few side characters to be a bit undercooked, but I never felt that was the focus or main point of interest to me.

When i read the synopsis I thought it would be incredibly cliche.

And that's exactly what it is.

The series is about 2 characters on opposing sides that have suffered years of war with each other. So when the Prince and Princess profess there love for each other they accept peace because both of them have very doting fathers (for real thats the reason). But in actuality they don't actually like each other at all both of them being not each other's type. But slowly they also fall in love with each other whilst also trying to get past the years the damage there countries have done to each other.

As you can probably guess, the series does not actually do anything unique, or that interesting. Usually the series just pulls the same comedic stuff over and over again so it really depends on your own mood or enjoyment of which clichés will click for you.

I think the most interesting part of the series was where the main character kills people and the main heroine who is a medical expert questions whether or not its ok to kill people under certain circumstances. Its too bad this is never really fully explored (though i will say that it is mostly resolved in its own episodic scenario that it was created in).

Another issue was the art. Everything is really pointy. The chins specifically.

I mean this is a short 4 volume series that plays it by the books. Despite there being some good moments and overall i did somewhat enjoy this series. I'd say your better off reading off better romance series instead.

TLDR: Unless you have literally run out of push and pull romance series and want to read more than yeah i guess this is good enough to be worth checking out. 5/10

Sweet, I Guess

What can you say, it's shoujo. I really did like the plot development, and the romantic development was fine, I suppose. Cliches were obvious, but it didn't bother me that much. Once again, the female lead is weak and lacking, but she was somewhat cool at some points. The male lead is "cool", just like every other male lead. It's not particularly special or outstanding in its genre, but it's cute, and I like the world it's set in. Therefore, 6/10.

It Gets Better...

I think the story started out kind of slow and a bit shallow--like not much depth in the characters or the plot, but the manga improves with every chapter. You really get to learn about the characters and the overarching story.

Decent read

A decent story with a kinda cliched romance on an original setting, for some reason it felt very similar to shirayuki hime at times.
In any case, it's a fun light read, the comedy is not bad and the chars are decent, even if the main male lead is too perfect/idolized and the main female lead is childish.

I hate shoujo!

Yes, I normally hate shoujo, I'm a guy and I can count with the fingers of one of my hands how many I really like, but this one is so cute that I can't stop saying how cute this damn manga is... cute.

The main female character starts being a little bit annoying but after a couple of chapters you start to notice things aren't as they seem to be, she is just the master of all Tsundere, but it does not feel forced or anything, she really does not know how to cope up with the situation and forces her way out clumsily... just to come back again, and the story telling lets you notice it and understand it.

If all Tsundere in history and that will come had to be represented with a character, the one on this manga should be the profile picture.

Totally shoujo

As I said, totally shoujo, but I like the genre so I liked this. And it's not long and quite funny. I would recommend it to shoujo lovers. There are two extra stories, not just one, so look for them.

Light yet a Little Thought-Provoking

At first glance, this manga seemed like a typical shoujo, but having read other work by the same mangaka, I continued. Once one gets past the monthly serialization recap, one finds an interesting story, filled with non-simple primary characters (especially Johanne and Yuda); serious thoughts on the effects of war/ international relations on personal relation ships, and taking action or not; and just enough sweetness and well-done humour to prevent the reading from becoming too heavy. That said, it doesn't really bother to go into these issue either: it's basically a good light read with more serious elements included but not expounded upon. Since the primary aim is a fun, light read to begin with, this is no fault.
I understand why some people would lack the patience for it or would find it not to their preference. However, if you manage to get beyond it, it really is a worthwhile light read.

Dropped

Correct me if I'm wrong but after reading (skimming rather) the first chapter and then reading a few more pages of the second I felt a formulaic pattern coming for each chapter: state the premise (two people become a couple to end the war but they hate each other) -> some incident -> resolution that brings couple closer -> but they go back to step 1 in the next chapter anyway. Not my cup of tea.

The only reason that kept me from rating this a 1 is the premise. It was interesting enough that it got me to pick it up, however everything just felt flat for me. The whole thing oozes typical shoujo characters, scenes, and narrative. When I see the female MC cry in the first chapter, I hear warning bells in my head; I dropped this after 10 minutes of reading.
