Slightly Disappointing

This one had a strong start but somehow around the middle it lost some of its charm and became somewhat predictable.I was also not a fan of Narumi*Mizuho relationship. The part towards at the end with mizuho's mother and the doctor was also confusing.Despite all the that,it was still a good read and it's pretty refreshing to see shoujo manga thay doesn't follow the same old formulas.

Rated 9.5 instead of 10 for that ending

Each chapter is filled with a new twist and turn in the story, and kept me on my toes as to what would happen next in the story. However, it sizzled out towards the end for me, just a bit before the heartbreaking finale.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Throughout the story, you question what the relationship is between the main pair, as you see bits and pieces uncovered. It's both clear and unclear at times whether they feel the same way about each other or not, but ultimately, I think they did love each other, though it's not as obvious as it is to each other.

For example, Narumi is crushed after the first time Mizuho decides not to come anymore to his house. I feel like it was because Mizuho was dissatisfied with the extent of their relationship. They weren't exlcusive, and Narumi openly flirted along with other girls which ended up making her feel unhappy, along with the fact that it feels like she's not aware of her own feelings at this point in time. It felt like she didn't want to be touched with the same hands that touched countless other girls and be treated as the same worth as them -- as casual flings.

However, you can feel Mizuho is growing throughout the progression of the story and deciding to face her feelings no matter the outcome.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Unfortunately, the romantic aspect doesn't end up with a happy outcome.

I hoped that the end of the penultimate chapter would be a lie -- that the final chapter would resolve this issue but it didn't.
Mizuho is left devastated after all deciding to go through with it even knowing that there's a possibility that the outcome won't work out in her favor. The ending feels so bleak for most of the remaining chapter, as Mizuho struggles to accept her rejection. But the entire journey of the manga is shown through all the friends and new relationships she's acquired throughout the entirety of it all, and her newfound acceptance to move forward that propels her.

Although Narumi rejected her feelings, I feel like he did love her to an extent, but just hadn't realized it, which is similar as to how Mizuho started out. That, and he didn't want to wrap her up in his problems with the two gangsters who promised to forever follow him, so he decided to cut off all his connections to her, which was what induced that harsh rejection.

But the end is rather disturbing concerning her mother. At first, I thought it was possible that the story Mizuho was chasing was fabricated as if she was a patient by Narumi's mother, but I re-read it several times before I disregarded that interpretation. With that last bit written in, along with the overall tone through most of the last chapter, the story had a bleak feeling to it after Mizuho's resolve to embrace her feelings.

But there is one last bit of hope even with her mother's input, as she recognizes that her daughter is changing.

I wish there could've been another afterword or extra chapter to see how Mizuho has moved forward in her life, but I suppose it would involve meeting Narumi again and undoing the effects of the last chapter. By the author's intentions, the end all is probably not always filled with happy-go-lucky romantic outcomes, and it's Mizuho's steps to moving forward that shows us how life works out sometimes.

I took off only .5 mostly for the ending but that's more because things didn't work out in the way that I hoped they would and not so much as out of nowhere entirely.

Great mystery

One of the few dramatic stores that actually makes sense and doesn't feel like it just making up scenarios. The characters are very interesting and the pacing is really nice. The relationships in the story can get pretty twisted but that's what makes it so invoking. Great read and only a handful of chapters!

I didn't expect the unexpected..and I loved it

At first I thought it was going to be a normal kinda cliché filled manga but boy was I wrong! I freaking love how with every passing chapter the intensity rises and the mysteries surrounding every single character gets solved little by little. It's intriguing how secondary characters have their own important roles to play and that they're not just there to look good next to the main characters. And it's so satisfying how all their mysteries are definitely like puzzle pieces and putting them all together will reveal the main mystery. Unexpected plot twists were unexpected!

This manga had me going through all kinds of emotions and I loved every second of it. This is definitely one of my best reads!

Although it is catagorized as shoujo, I would not recommend it if you're expecting it to focus mainly on the protagonist's love life. I'd say it's all about the inner growth in the characters and the butterfly effect of one thing after another. It pulls the readers in and makes you connect to the characters as well as connect the dots of where things may have gone wrong or why it happened. It gets you to think many ifs and whys. The butterfly effect and how our interactions which may seem small, can affect anyone and everyone. Piece was a great read, I really liked the character conflicts and the plot was extremely intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat. I had read this and put this on hold a long time ago, but I picked it back up today to read it from start to finish in one sitting. Although the characters all had their own stories presented to us throughout the series, I felt like it was a bit disconnected in the way some characters were put on a back burner after their stories were explained and then it jumped right on to the next character. It's understandable since it is to keep the suspense one event after another, but I do think it could've been handled better. One of my favorite things about this manga is the relationship between Mizuho and Narumi. It was so sweet and bitter, one of a kind type of couple. My second favorite thing is that the mysteries are constantly unfolding. It can get a little confusing after so many things happening all at once, but it was handled very well. Another favorite thing is the understanding. All the characters are so 'alive'. It's like they had life of their own, as if their "pieces" could be someone you know or resembled a characteristic of your own. I like how it isn't unrealistically hopeful, but the kind that you can relate to and by doing so, you're able to understand them personally and feel hopeful from that.

The chapters I've read so far (volume 2 chapter 5) have been awesome. This manga has totally restored my faith in this profession. It is absolutely beautiful, however I believe that to another it may seem dark and depressing.

The only thing I'm apprehensive about now is the length of it, ten volumes is a lot of room to find a boyfriend, but still, I'm looking forward to every single page.

I'm really enjoying this. It's kind of surprising, because it's not really the kind of plot I'd go for. I came across this title a while back but I put off reading it because the cover seemed to indicate it was an overdramatic soap opera type thing. But I finally started reading it and wow, it's great. The mystery looks very promising and it has just the right amount of suspense.

Mizuho, the protagonist is refreshing in that she's quite... honest? She's very cool about everything, but she's not a robot with no feelings. I'm not quite sure about Narumi yet, but I haven't read enough to make any final judgments yet. I'm looking forward to this one.

i decide to start reading this manga to atone my boredness after a long annoying romantic shoujo mangas(which started to crumble my last pieces of youth),.. seriously, it wasn't that bad. i can see this manga on a very good pace if this continues on...

the only thing that bother me is narumi's attitute, which i hope will be better as the story move on... well no one wants to be with someone who's a womanizer like him if no character development is given throughout the manga..

thus i gave my itsy bitsy hope to this manga so that more development can be seen in this manga! this manga is interesting n i hope it stay that way..

Piece is the type of manga that I would totally go for. The plot itself is very interesting and promising. I've read up to volume 5 by now and I can say that the story is getting better and better. The heroine is very promising as well.

I first I thought this was just a typical shoujo, with a slightly different type of main character, which was pretty nice already but then there was a super plot-twist at the end! Kinda like ARISA if you know what I mean.
