aside from the historical theme, the other-worldly skills, and the author & artist, Y+M is vastly different from Basilisk. and I enjoy it. it's a solid manga, and the fact that it's a gang of females doing the majority of the badass-ery (thus far anyway) makes it awesome. definitely good read!

This manga was amazing, such a good read. Juubei was mesmerizing and I just fell in love with his personality. He is not only strong but also an honest and true gentleman.
The story was good too, serious and I like the way the author incorporated some humor into it. The art was amazing except sometimes it was hard to distinguish women apart but over all great. A satisfactory ending too and thanks to Phythong for translating this to the end.

saying misogynist is just libel
its a historical manga so expect rape and death
and unlike other historicals the women play a big role
the Hori-women killed two samurais and saved Jyubei life when he was in the pit and one women (who was raped by Akinari) saved Jyubei when he was in the prison not to mention another woman that altered the fate of Aizu in the end

This isn´t Basilisk (8/10) 2 that´s for sure. Just utter misogyny at times (the cast is 50%+ women and they are just there to get raped, humiliated or fall for the main stud), repetitive action scenes (till the last volume no one important dies) but at least the art is mostly good. So if you like pointless nudity and watching how Jyubei beats up the same baddies week after week, this it for you but for me the manga was just too boring to care.
The ending is further a joke so read the female lead classic Azumi (9/10) or the highly historical important Kamui Gaiden (8,5/10) instead if you want a quality chambara manga and reviewed both.

I don't mind trashy manga, but Y+M is not only trashy but incredibly boring. After the initial death-fest, it get caught in a quagmire of boring made up feudal japanese politics that end up not mattering at all. Kudos to pythong for his dedication in translating this series but as a reader, I can't recommend Y+M to anyone.
