Description
From Yen Press:
When their high school's pop-music club is about to be disbanded due to lack of interest, four girls step up to fill the membership quota. Unfortunately, lead guitarist Yui Hirasawa has never played an instrument in her life. Ever.
And although she likes the idea of being in a band, standing in front of the mirror posing with her guitar is a lot easier than actually playing it. It's gonna be a while before this motley crew is rocking out but with their spunk and determination cranked to 11, anything is possible.

So good for me

So fun! So cute! Interactions are utterly adorable, and with that kind of energy, you don't need a plot. *High school* doesn't need a plot.

Okay, somewhat fetishized, but it's just the right amount of fetishized. Nothing really overt, a crush on your sempai, a close childhood friendship that borders on possessive. Nice!

Actually i have been introduced to this series about a year ago, but i didnt interested with it. However for some reason i try to read it and seriously cant stop and fall in love with. I found the series was so lively, lovely, funny, cute and fresh. All of K-On members have different characteristic and I think they are just so crazy. Everyday they just hang around in the music club room and enjoyed every piece of cake and tea that Mugi-chan made. So many times they missed to practice music but they managed to do everything succesfully, and it just wonderful that they really enjoy their youth time. Well for me now i am the big fan to K-ON!

pretty good

This manga is pretty cute. The drawings are nice, and the jokes are pretty good. The humor style reminded me a lot of Azumanga Daioh (I can't explain why, it just does), so if you liked the humor from that one, you will probably think this one is pretty funny too. The one thing that's weirdest about it, though, is that it's awkward that it's about music, since in a manga you obviously can't hear it, you know?

There are two specific criticisms I have: 1. Mugi's little yuri fantasy obsession should be eliminated completely; that kind of thing is just plain cheesy. 2. About the advisor, Sawako... I know that the perverted lech teacher is a common source of comic relief in a school manga, but... she's just too much of a jerk about the way she does it, that I end up being irritated and angry at her instead of amused.

Despite the couple of flaws, I thought this manga was overall cute and enjoyable. If you are looking for some light, entertaining school life series, I recommend giving this a try. Ah, I guess I should mention though, the music aspect in this series is more like a theme than the primary focus--that is, if you're looking for something that is really intensely about music, this is probably not what you want.

Pointless manga with no plot

I don't get the point of this manga. There's no comedy and the only thing people read this for is moe? I guess or whatever that's called. There is no plot and no character development. Truly confusing.

a cute 4koma

I love both the manga and the anime. It's light-hearted comedy and moe character really makes every seconds I read it worthy for every stress that fly away. kakifly did a good job in realtime timing in the manga.

Don't be bothered by reading it if you're not into random light-hearted easy-going comedy plot. 4koma isn't the place to find a complex plot, non-stop action, or deep tearjerking romance. It's simply for you to laugh to your heart content.

I hate this series is over, but I can say that Kakifly and the anime crew have done an excellent job.

Farewell, K-On! (or not?)

Before I say anything about the series, I wanted to point out the reviews expressing hate of this series people may have an issue with. They're just voicing their opinions and you're voicing yours whether you write a review or thinking in your mind. This is how people are; everyone is different and everyone has their own interpretations. I find that those who read these comments may benefit from knowing both sides. That's all I wanted to say about that.

In my own opinion, I thought K-On! was very cute and innocent. Kakifly did a great job bringing humor, cuteness, and a five-member, all-girl band together into four-frame columns. It's always sad for something to come to an end but for K-On!, this is better than dragging out. Although I have this feeling it's not the end of HTT just yet.

By the way, I'm a girl if you haven't noticed from my username (-^o^-).

This is a pretty average comedy series. It's a series of short comic strips involving the same characters, with no significant plot or development.

It's appeal is that everything from the art to the humor is "cute", in a lighthearted and childish kind of way. There are some hilarious moments, but, for the most part, the events are amusing but not really funny.

I love it.

I love it because I'm a musician myself (Keyboards).
I love it because I have something for left handed guitarists. I loose control if it's a female bigrazz
I love it because it's NOT one bit Serious.
I love it because the characters are unrealistically comic.
I love it because the humor make me laugh.
I love it because it's extreme Moe/Cute/Kawaii...

You'll love it. Or at least you won't hate it... smile

Cute and clever 4koma, which handles it's genre and format quite well.
If you're familiar with the anime adaptation you'll find the studio was quite faithful to this source material.

For some unknown reason the anime adaptation brings out a few nuts; who are oddly and vehemently disturbed by what is a light, innocuous and enjoyable story. As there is nothing remotely controversial in the 4koma or the anime, it's baffling as to the source of their rage.
Some state the source of their anger, is the fact that the main characters are female and there is no male lead, although there are many, many manga like that. Others are outraged that the characters are percieved to be "cute", and by way of illusory correlation associate "cuteness" with pedophelia. This despite of the fact that the characters are full figured and currently taking university entrance exams.

The problem may lie with the detractors emotional immaturity, alternative sexual frustration (see teniki's comment), confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance; but these traits still don't completely explain the raw emotional furor displayed over something so light and innocuous.

If you're a normal person (male or female, of any age) and looking for something relaxing and enjoyable, give this a read.
