I tried

I tried to like this, I really did. This is my second time reading it and after 5 volumes I finally remember why I dropped it the first time. It's dull. That's it. There is literally nothing to care about in this.

Plot: The story is entirely driven by the antagonists, everyone else just sort of stands around and waits for them to do stuff. Right off the bat they're introduced as government exorcists except there's this whole conflict over people wanting to revive/control the kyuubi or whatever for some reason that's not really explained. All the conflicts are completely uninteresting and who wins is never a question of skill. It's on the level of "my rock is bigger than your rock".

Characters: MC can see ghosts, but so can all the main characters so he stops being special by chapter 2. They mention that he's from a family of swordsmen in passing and then never bring it up again. So that's the most development you'll get from him. The female lead is just really stupid. She does all sorts of things that are likely to get her killed and just gets lucky. The two of them are supposed to like each other, but I must have missed that part because I see no reason why they should. I'm the hero and you're the heroine so of course we love each other! *sigh*

Art: I HATE the artwork. The characters have no definition and the mangaka likes to do give them stupidly comedic expressions during tense or emotional moments that just comes off as lazy. All the female characters' faces look exactly the same. Seriously, how did this get published!?!

It was an interesting concept I'm kinda disappointed. But really, you can skip this one.

Overall good, but...

First half, or even two thirds were good. Nice pacing, good characters etc.
Last arc screws up whole picture. Yes, ending was good enough, but the plot wandered off in weird direction, pacing got thrown off and romantic sub-plot was crippled.

If I didn't know any better I would be able to swear this came from Shounen Jump. I don't understand all the high scores but maybe people just like this same generic formula that Jump has trademarked.

The main character is one of those love at first dolts who does anything for this girl he just meet because she is pretty and from there he becomes the generic hot head that will protect her no matter what despite not even knowing her and his main character powers allow him to do it.

There is no character development for anyone in this which is what ruins it, aside from the lame main character, and the girl is pretty lame as well. I really don't know what to say to describe this without getting long winded, but if you know the main character I described then you have read this 1000 times over.

Well, it's over but ended was way too anti-climatic. Series started great, liked the background story, action popped off the page and few chatacters that you can take interest in but around volume 6 i wasn't feeling it anymore, like the magic disappered from the manga somehow. Well, the only thing i can't complain about is the art, loved the details the author had in the art.

In any case, i can only recommend this manga if you like exorcism of demons and the supernatural but your interest might go down.

this new yomi chick really pisses me off. "oh, he killed my daddy, they were people once too, oh woe is me" they're fuggin ghosts now, get the fuck over it. And whats with the lightsaber? other than that, pretty decent.
oh and yet again, another writing that discriminates against the darkness.

good at first, dropping off now

IMO this was great, until chapter 32 anyway.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
After Kagura loses her memory the manga seems to drop off. Kagura goes from being a strong female lead to becoming an unstable easily manipulated moron.

I feel that what happens in chapter 32 and the chapters following it put the manga into a 'milk it for all it is worth' style. Chapter 32 would have made an awesome ending to the manga and instead it is continued in such a way that makes you hate one of the main characters.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Kagura is slowly regaining her memory but only because she is being manipulated by some new obviously shounen-esque cliche 'stronger that the previous bad guy group bad guy group.' She also seems to be willing to risk the lives of millions so that she does not have to suffer the pain of losing a friend, even though she is aware of a potentially 'perfect ending' situation.

I really hope this series turns around and fast because it is going from good shounen to cliche/standard shounen very fast. Also considering the main character of the manga is Kensuke and not Kagura, it is kind of annoying how he has taken the back seat for almost all of the manga.

I am rating this a 5 but I will continue to follow it in hopes that the author realizes he is killing a good manga and replacing it with one that serves no other purpose but to have a spot in a weekly magazine till the end of time.

Yo this manga is very good and i tell you, just try it.
Even though Kensuke the main is weak (NEED TO GET STRONGER....THE MANGAKA SHOULD LET HIM LEARN THIS DIMENSION CUT THING) its still a very good manga.
The Anime is also very good...(pretty art etc.) but i think they should make a anime of the actual manga that would be great

and for the guy that's below me, Yomi came back or not is still a mystery. the girl who looks like her is called Izumi, though she has some connection with Yomi, but there hasn't any proof for her to be Yomi yet.

and that's not the famous seven blade sword or whatsoever, that's just a double blade sword or a twin blade. (Serge from chrono cross used something similar). also, seven blade is no where famous, famous would be considered legendary, like murakumo or kusanagi. murakumo fits ga-rei more for spiritual stories.
