The works by this mangaka aren't some superficial stuff with extremely flat characters. It is so refreshing to read things where the couple actually DOES have chemistry, and their love is beliveble, and tbh this is the reason why I read romance; it is to satisfy this romantic heart of mine, but when the romance is forced or the characters are too flat, it can kinda ruin the experience for me.

WERE LIT!!! (Tho i don't like the first story in the part where they're cheating behind their gfs, but fk it the story was great still)
THE STORIES WERE FULL OF EMOTION. I DIDN'T EXPECT THE STORIES TO BE THIS GOOD I SWEAR. IT IS A MUST READ!!! I LOVE ALL THE ONE SHOTS IN THIS MANGA BC THE SEMES WERE REALLYYYYY KIND AND THOUGHTFUL (And their love for the uke was realllly evident, unlike most yaoi mangas where lust is present instead of love) AND THE UKES WERE NOT ANNOYING.
THE LAST PAGE OF THE FIRST STORY, YOU COULD HONESTLY FEEL WHAT EMOTION THE MANGAKA WAS TRYING TO CONVEY, AND THAT'S THE FEELING OF NOSTALGIA. IT HONESTLY HIT ME HARD AND I JUST CAN'T--!!!
The second one shot was not really satisfying at first, BUT IT GETS BETTER I SWEAR.
The third story was okay, I guess (maybe bc I lack undestanding with the situation they were into? idk) BUT STILL GOOD THO
And the first story was seriouslyyyyyy cuuuuute!!! At first I thought that it was going to be a typical tyranny between a tsundere uke boss and a bully seme subordinate, BUT I WAS IN FOR A SURPRISE!!!!
A MUST READ!!!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It started as a guy not wanting to be judged by his environment. He kept on denying his feelings for the other person involved. In the end, it all worked out well. But his last words were what hooked me. HE SAID <in his thoughts> THAT HE JUST WANTS TO <intimidate> //what he said was bully but I really don't like the word// THE UKE FOR NOW, BECAUSE HE'LL SPOIL THE UKE ROTTEN LATER (and he EVEN SAID THAT HE WILL BE WRAPPED AROUND THE UKE'S FINGER, AND THAT IS HONESTLYYYY SOOO CUUUUUUTE) AND I JUST CANNOT >///<
The third story was okay, I guess (maybe bc I lack undestanding with the situation they were into? idk) BUT STILL GOOD THO

Bónd(z) is one of the very first yaoi I ever read and it is one of the few I like to read again: every time the same intensity. I like very much Overdose and Cut too, but Bónd(z) has that kind of passion you won't easily find in other mangas, expecially one-shots. Read it. Then read it again and again.

Damn the title story is good

I love the first a.k.a title story so badly that I just can't help re-visiting it once in a while. It's not exactly your standard feel-good type of story that you'd normally come back to so as to boost up your energy and self-esteem but rather the type that's strangely addicting and gripping, so much so that I for one can never leave it alone.
Other than that the rest of the stories are just -Meh- I guess. Didn't quite offer anything to me to say the least. Mediocre is a stronger word to put it. If I could rate this based on the first story alone I would definitely give it a perfect 10, but because this is for the whole volume I can't really be so biased, so unfortunately I'll just have to leave it unrated .

Supreme Narration

The art is clearer than most of Kawai-sensei's works and the story is simple, as are the characters, but the narration--oh the narration!--of this story is absolutely driving. Much of it is owed to the translators for keeping the artistic, fluent voice in which it was written, but the fact remains that this story's key element, what keeps it all together, is the narration.
Generally, we think of manga as being centered around plot and art, but Kawai-sensei proves that's not necessarily the case in this poignant and beautiful one-shot.

the first story make me breathless. i feel the burn of summer in this cold winter while reading it. my heart just speed up reading about their spiral onto themselves. gah, i want that kind of burning love too!
second story is very sweet. the third story is even more so, but tinge with melancholic air. such despair. the fourth story have a feel good vibe in it. put a smile in my face
all in all, they are good stories. the art may be below average and look a wee bit unnatural, but the stories will carry the manga gracefully.

I really liked the first two stories. The third wasn't my thing at all (I don't like fantasy/fairytale stuff much). The fourth wasn't one I liked much either. For some reason, on the last two stories, the art lost a lot of its emotive qualities and the stories got stiffer. I don't know why, and I didn't like it.
Okay, in the second story, if my kid's teacher said something like that to him, we would have WORDS. Big fat words that could end in her working at Target away from children. That made me so mad and so sad.
For the first two, I give them a 9/10.
For the next two, I give them a 6/10.

WHAT? How come haven't' reviewed this yet?! As many others of Kawai-sensei's, this is one of my favorite manga of all time. I've read it countless times, know the exact words from each dialogue, and it still makes me cry every time.
While the first two stories (Bónd(z) and Situation) make you cry as hell, the third one (Fairy Garden) touches you and leaves you with a broken-hearted/happy feeling at the same time. The last one (Sakura) is my least favorite but it's only because I don't like younger ukes when they're totally inexperienced and way more naïve than the semes.
I will only properly review the two first stories since they're my favorites.
Anyways, Bónd(z) is, in my opinion, the best one shot I've ever read. It doesn't have to be longer or even show more for the story to be just perfect, because their emotions are just on the surface and astonishing even without so many pages. I actually don't know quite right how to describe such a beautiful title, but I can say that their love is everything you need: obsessive, lustful, full of angst, deep and intense.
Tomo is probably one of my favorite ukes of all time: even though he's actually able to provoke Keita, which isn't very common in the yaoi world, he's also just as insecure as every uke, and that leads him to end up basically causing all the twists to the plot. He's the one who can't stand being just friends with Keita after they've slept together and kissed him. He falls in love with him and gets terrified by the thought of jealousy. He finally runs away from everything and leaves their relationship hanging. Have you guys ever though about what would happen if they never got to meet again? They'd be both in love with each other for life and unable to EVER say that clearly. This misunderstanding is just too beautiful, because even the thought that they were in love but wasted two years apart is full of pain. For me, they've been in love way before having pierced each other's "ero parts". From the first time they have sex already, they couldn't seem to forget the feel of the other's body. And even though we don't get Keita's point of view in all of this, to me it's pretty obvious he felt the same from the beginning. Right from that part where he kissed Tomo after the first time they've slept together. But, as he said it himself, he couldn't get to express it. He was just as afraid as Tomo. The final scene is just perfect and amazing. Of course, we all wish it was longer, but every good manga leaves things subtle and that's what makes it special.
What I like about "Situation" is precisely that they're in love with each other since FOREVER but can't say it. Akira's a little bolder, but even him is afraid of screwing their friendship because Yoh never send any signs that he likes guys too. What's more impressive about that story is the way Kawai-sensei makes Yoh go insane with his feelings for Akira. He can't stand them and it's just too sad. And the ending is really something! I love this paring, they're so cute and it's such a touching story! I love it.

I've been looking for something like this for a very long time. It's one of those few manga that rely on good stories and great characters to keep you interested. It's very hot, and touching in places, without having to include really any graphic images at all. I was hooked from page 1.. give this a shot if you're looking for a great read.
